Ford, Spielberg & Lucas Decide on ‘Indy 5′ Story

indiana jones 5 on the way Ford, Spielberg & Lucas Decide on Indy 5 StoryFor some, the thought of a new Indiana Jones adventure fills them with dread. However, for some (like myself) it’ll be the return of an old friend.

Well, according to Harrison Ford it would appear that Indy 5 is one step closer to having him cracking his whip once more.

The star has revealed that he, George Lucas and director Steven Spielberg have agreed on an idea for Indy’s fifth adventure and that the ball is now in Lucas’ court to develop the plot.

While in the UK promoting his new film Extraordinary Measures, the iconic action star said the following to the BBC:

“Steven and George and I are sort of agreed on a germ of an idea and we’re seeing what comes of it.”

He went on to talk about how the process for getting a script (that satisfies the trio) works:

“We come to some basic agreement and then George goes away for a long time and works on it. Then Steven and I get it in some form, some embryonic form. Then if we like it we start working with George on it and at some point down the line it’s ready and we do it.”

Sadly, Ford doesn’t go into any specific plot details.

It’ll be interesting to see how long this process takes; It took almost 20 years for Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull to make it to the big screen! Ford, Lucas and Spielberg aren’t getting any younger. Ford is now 67 years old and while I felt that he believably kicked ass in Crystal Skull, I don’t think that he’ll be able to do the same in another 20 years. Having said that, rising star Shia LaBeouf will only be in his forties by then. Just thinking aloud.

I’m sure that there’s enough of you who want to say that Ford should hang up the Fedora for good and that his days as a reliable A-list star are past him.

I’ll just say – roll on Indy 5 and await your backlash!

  1. Two words:Nuke Fridge!!

  2. Oh god not again..

  3. You have to say it with all capitals and at least a double dose of exclamation points to afford it the full level of awesomness it deserves:

    i.e. NUKE FRIDGE!!!

    …see?
    Can't wait! :)

  4. reboot in 4 or 5 years

  5. Really, though? Like jumping out of a plane in an inflatable raft & sledding down a mountain top to survive the crash is that much more of a stretch? It's an Indy movie. Sit back, relax & enjoy.

Anything can be nitpicked to death.

  6. I predict that Indy will trade in his whip for a cane…giving the movie hilarious moments of alzheimer's disease when Indy forgets that he has a cane and not a whip. Oh look out for that chasm Indy. It will be like Mr. Magoo and Indiana Jones combined in wonderful bliss. I can't wait!

  7. Though crystal skull did not satisfy as well as it should, there were definitely Indy moments that made the whole thing worth while to me. Call me nostalgic, but I love Indiana Jones so much, and Harrison Ford will forever be my favorite actor. Make as many as Harrison Ford physically can, if Harrison Ford is not the start of the movie however, do no, I repeat DO NOT make anymore.

    God I love Indiana Jones.

    • I am with you !
The age doesen’t matter, the script and story can always consider that !
And anyway..Indy drank from the Holy Grail..that keeps him young..in a way :)

Can’t wait for another one..just hope they hurry up a bit !
Bermuda Triangle Story..ala The Void..or meet Dracula in Transylvania !
      Castlevania say Hi !:P

Anyway…make another I am on board!

  8. Precisely. I actually mostly enjoyed crystal skull, though I will never forgive the monkeys and LaBouf swinging through the trees only to land on a speeding car and the monkeys attack the Russians. That part was not so much unbelievable as just plain stupid.

  9. I'm looking forward to one last adventure with Indy, Crystal Skull had problems sure but I couldnt help enjoying the hell out of it.
    I like that Ford, Lucas and Spielberg all have to agree on the plot, they all love the character so much, it is a good collaborative process. I remember hearing all the titles Lucasfilm had come up with a few years ago, and one always stuck in my mind;

Indiana Jones And The Destroyer Of Worlds.

  10. Please make it about the Lost City of Atlantis!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. whatever they come up with I am so there…………

  12. I enjoyed “Crystal Skull”, nuke fridge, monkies, and all
I am SO seeing the 5th

  13. I hope they use something a little more epic than the Skulls that know everything, like an artifact that has to do with time travel perhaps. That be a good adventure.

  14. Oh for the love of Cthulhu, hang up the hat & pass the bullwhip on to the next generation, Harry… (And pass it to a *real actor, not that LeBouef twit!)

  15. Oh for the love of Cthulhu, hang up the hat & pass the bullwhip on to the next generation, Harry… (And pass it to a *real actor, not that LeBouef twit!)

  16. I just hope to god they get Harrison Ford to play the part and don't focus on shia labarf.

If Lucas and Spielberg like that kid so much, give him his own damn movies and keep the indiana jones franchise where it belongs – with ford.

  17. Lucas and Spielberg have been outside their element for a while. They’re has-beens and refuse to admit it. I hope either the ball goes into someone else’s court or that they put the series to rest gracefully.

Lucas has killed any desire I have to see his films after he de-made the star wars prequels and the new indy film. Feel sorry for him. He needs somebody to stand up and say “No.” I get the feeling it’s always “YES!”
