Day-Lewis and Del Toro May Star in Scorsese’s ‘Silence’

Day-Lewis and Del Toro May Star in Scorsese's 'Silence'

It seems for Martin Scorsese being in post-production in one movie (Shutter Island) and shooting another (apparently - a documentary about George Harrison) doesn’t stop the man from thinking ahead. He is hoping to make his next movie, Silence, an adaptation of a book he’s had his eye on for eight years now.

What's Happening With The Gears Of War Movie?

This is not exactly breaking news, but due to some reader feedback, we thought we’d touch on the Gears of War movie project and give some information on the latest updates.

At the red carpet premiere of Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, the good people over at Bloody Disgusting got a chance discuss the Gears of War project with Underworld creator and producer Len Wiseman. Wiseman revealed that in addition to writing the screenplay with fellow writer Chris Morgan (Wanted, Fast & Furious), he will also be occupying the director’s seat.

Heroes ‘Fugitives’ Chapter: Back To Basics?

Heroes 'Fugitives' Chapter: Back To Basics?

So Heroes is back with the next chapter: Fugitives. Right from the opening scene the opening episode, “A Clear and Present Danger” had a different feel than last season’s “Villains” arc. It seemed more… quiet.

This was fine with me as it seems (at least in the season opener) that they’re paying more attention to and focusing more on the characters as people. Last season was all about crazy action and characters acting… well… out of character.

There will be season opener spoilers below…

Skynet Is Coming

IESB.net has found what looks to be the first “viral” website for Terminator: Salvation: SkynetResearch.com.

There’s nothing much there except for a larger version of what you see above, including a sign-up form for updates. The site seems to be legit, with a link to Warner Bros.’ privacy policy (due to the fact the page asks for an email address).

Keep an eye on it and let us know if anything changes.

Eagle Eye Blu-ray Review

Eagle Eye Blu-ray Review

I don’t have a standard format or a catchy heading for Blu-ray/DVD reviews so I’ll just get right into a short review of Eagle Eye on Blu-ray (or BD as the studios call it, though I don’t think that’ll catch on). Overall Eagle Eye was an entertaining popcorn action flick which stated out strong but became progressively more ridiculous as it went on.

Super Sneak Preview: Sam Raimi's 'Drag Me To Hell'

I had the pleasure of seeing an early test screening of Sam Raimi’s new film, Drag Me To Hell this past week at a super secret viewing in Burbank, California.  It was a rough copy to say the least, which was announced to the audience before the start of the film, but I didn’t care.  I’ve been a fan of Raimi’s since his original foray into horror with Evil Dead so my excitement and anticipation was hard to contain.

Big, Mean T-600 From 'Terminator: Salvation'

Check out this cool image of the T-600 Terminator from the Terminator: Salvation video game. It comes from GamePro.com in a story describing the features of the upcoming movie-based game. I’m not into video games myself, but the image below is photo-realistic and is probably exactly what the pre-Ahnuld Terminator will look like on the big screen.

Slumdog Millionaire Star Cast In The Last Airbender

Slumdog Millionaire Star Cast In The Last Airbender

Yesterday, it was announced that Dev Patel, star of the hit Oscar-probable movie Slumdog Millionaire will be joining the cast of M.Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender. Just to clarify, the word “Avatar” was removed from the title to avoid confusion with James Cameron’s Avatar due out this December.

The good news is that Patel will be replacing singer Jesse McCartney to play the part of Prince Zuko, exile of the fire nation. As it turns out, young Mr. McCartney had scheduling issues that conflicted with shooting which is planned to begin in March. This I am sure, is a big relief to the many Airbender fans out there who made their outrage known about many of the initial casting decisions.

Are You Looking Forward To 3D Movies?

3D.  I remember the 1D headaches from watching some older 3D movies.  Yet the entertainment industry thinks 3D is the new tech that will help sales.  Not only is it coming to a theater near you, it’s coming to computer games and some TVs that are already set up for 3D movies.  Or will this newest effort end up in the warehouse with the massive unsold collection of 10,000 Segways?

Superbowl Star Trek Trailer = More Adrenaline

So here’s the deal, if you’re a long time Star Trek fan you’re either going to love the upcoming Star Trek movie or you’re going to hate it. I’m betting there will be no middle ground on this one. But I’m betting that if you’re NOT a Trek fan, this movie is going to rock your world.

While I’m still having a bit of a hard time wrapping my head around Chris Pine as Kirk (especially his use of the word “man” 200 years from now in the following trailer) I’m leaning towards the “gonna love it” camp.

Enough yakking, check out the latest trailer, which will premier on TV during the Super Bowl…

Finally! Check Out The G.I. Joe Teaser Trailer

We’ve been waiting for months to see the first glimpse of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra footage, and Paramount has released the Super Bowl teaser trailer ahead of the big game.  We kept getting official and unofficial images, but no footage.

As you may recall, there’s been speculation for months that the first teaser would be coming, even as early as the fall.  But when reports surfaced that a teaser that was tested for audiences did horribly, fans started to get nervous.

Then we got word that a teaser would premiere during the Super Bowl.  And as I mentioned above, we can see it officially now!  Check out the teaser after the jump.

First Look At The Twins From Transformers 2

Those of you following news and updates for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will no doubt have seen some of the set images showing some of the new vehicles added for the sequel. Many of the pics featured the “Twins” which are two new unique additions to the Autobot cast taking the vehicle forms of the Chevy Beat and Chevy Trax concept designs. This of course, is because Transformers is partly a big GM advertisement.

Activision, the company behind The Official Transformers video games, released some new promotional images on their website and these included our first ever look at the two brother bots.

In a recent interview, Masi Oka, better known as Heroes‘ time-hopping lovable geek Hiro, assured fans (what few of us are left) that the Heroes‘ fourth volume “Fugitives,” which premieres on February 2nd, is going to bring the show back to the first season roots that made it a hit with fans and critics alike.

(Wait, didn’t they promise the same thing about “Villains?”)

But today Fox released the first official poster for X-Men Origins: Wolverine, although they’re counting on Hugh Jackman with mutton chops and his trademark claws to tell you which movie it’s for.

Stallone To Do Another 'Rambo'?

Just when we thought the legendary action character John Rambo was put firmly to rest last year with Rambo, it seems that Stallone wants to give the character yet another outing.

He had this to say:

Yeah, we are doing another ‘Rambo,’ but the conflict is whether to do it in America or a foreign country.
