I Disagree. what it takes to pretty much make a great movie is one heck of a plot, make the movie long enough so every character their fair share time in. X-men 2, Batman Forever were considered good films. Spider-man 3 and Batman & Robin were takin into the wrong direction, mostly because of the studios. Superman 2 had 3 villainsm 4 if you count Lex Luthor and people loved it just as much as the first film. Batman & Robin had 3 villains, but that wasnt the problem. it was how those villains were played out and film itself lacking the darkness as from the previous films. The Dark Knight had 3 villains. and made sure it was dark and gave enough screen time for the amount of time the movie ran. I remember people complained about Batman Returns being too dark. Mostly i just think films need the right plot and plenty of screen time for the main characters. If there was a super hero film 3 hrs long, id still go to the theater and watch it probly more than once.

I worry this will follow a pattern of stuffing too many heroes/villans in a single movie such as; Spiderman 3, Batman and Robin, Batman Forever, X-Men II. Character development takes a back seat to action and the film suffers.

One thing about the first Iron Man movie. All the actors were so good together, I forgot I was watching a Superhero flick. It’s a good formula and they haven’t lost anything without Howard. Although it will take a bit getting used to Cheadle playing a role that I had already associated with Howard. About TDK, even though I’m not a fan of Gyllenhal or Holmes, the Death of Rachel Dawes would have carried more weight for me if Katie was reprising her role. I still would’ve laughed though…heh.

good point. Once the armor is put on I don’t think we would notice a difference between the two of them though.

Umm, Rhodey/Warmachine are the same person whether he’s in the armor or not. In the first movie we saw how hard-headed he was as he was in the comics and if he were to be in the sequel, he would still be that guy. It does make sense if you think about it.

LOL I gave one of my friends crap about that scene cause he thinks she’s all that. I said to him that it could of been worse if the Joker stuck a carrot in her mouth like one guy did in the movie ( Secretary) before she died.

Howard didn’t play a superhero in the first movie so noone knows how he would be in that role. So to say that he would be better suited for it makes no sense.

While I thought Gylennhal was a thousand times better than Holmes was, I wish they didn’t replace her b/c then we would have gotten to see Holmes blow up instead of Gylennhal.

I agree with ya Phil about how Howard looked more like the super hero type. I respect Cheadle as a actor but after seeing Howard play Rhodes in the first film and knowing how Cheadle is, i Prefer Howard still but people surprise ya. I hope Cheadle can live up to what Howard started. As for TDK, i thought Katie Holmes played a better head-strong Rachel dawes.

Cheadle is a better actor.

However, Terrence looked more like a superhero. (Not that will matter much when he dons the armor.)

There’s good and bad to both guys, but meh. I’m sure it will be a good movie regardless. I had more of a problem with Katie Holmes not being in The Dark Knight than Cheadle replacing Howard.
