Empire tricked me into thinking this was Heat II.

But this looks even better. Fantastic actors, a great story, what more do you want?

I’ve got my eye on this one.

Bale, alright, Depp, eh, hopefully he won’t act like a gay pirate or a crazy chocolate man, but Leelee Sobiesky… Come on, get someone who actually understands that the point of acting is to NOT look completely fake…

I also love these kind of films. Great cars, great time, great guns - TOMMY GUNS. As a matter of fact, please go with the drum-magazines, way cooler and more ganster than normal magazines :).
And you can’t go wrong with Bale an Depp!

Being a fan of both Bale and Depp, as well of the era the film takes place, I am totally exceited about this.
@Ken J
What is exactly that you dislikeabout Depp as an actor?? I believe that he is a very talented actor, You have to look at his films prior to him becoming a huge star. I find that there are too many 1-dimensional actors in movies today (by that I mean, play the same charactor in different movies,Such as Keanu Reeves or Orlando Bloom) with Depp, you expierence all sorts of charactors portatyed differently by Depp (Secret Window, Sleepy Hollow, and yes even his gay pirate and crazy chocolate man are all differnt charactors, with no real simularities, other than Depp). One film I will recommend seeing that I belive everyone should see if they lack faith in Depp’s acting abilty, is Finding Neverland. Phneominal movie with a top nitch cast and the acting was superb.

Everyone has their own acting style. Whether it is the same or different from one movie to another is not really the point. His style tends to be on the flamboyant side and I am not a fan of that style of acting. Robert Downey Jr. is about the limit to that end that I would enjoy, and even with him he ventures a bit out there sometimes. And I think RDJ is an excellent actor, but I simply don’t like his style sometimes. That’s just my opinion. But I think you know that I thought he hit Tony Stark square on the head of the nail, and I thought his character in Tropic Thunder was a riot. But anyway, that’s kind of the way I feel about Depp except he’s a few miles past my limit in terms of that…

Also not helping the matter is that I have a friend that is completely obsessed with him. It’s like everytime he’s in a movie, or he appears on the tv, or someone mentions his name, it’s like “OMFG IT’S JOHNEEE DEPPPP I LUUUVVV HIMMMM, OMG THE WORLD IS EXPLODING, r0×0rz!!!!!!!111″ Alright, I made all of that up, but that’s how it seems to me everytime she freaks out about him. It’s like the 50’s and the Beetles are in concert. I laugh at those fans too.

But I also don’t understand it. Out of all of the major male actors I can think of, Depp is one of the most feminine looking ones I can think of… Maybe that’s what they like about him, who knows… Anyway, guess I’ll never understand women. lol

This looks like it could be a pretty good story-line here. It could be similar to “The Untouchables” only with a few more bad-ass actors.

Thats a pretty fair and reasonable statement.

Well, I’m sure there are some actors that I like that others might consider too plain. I tend to lean away from the more colorful actors. But they definitely have their place. Like basically almost all of the actors I like would not have been able to pull off the role of Jack Sparrow like Depp did.

I tend to lean more towards actors that can diversify and step away from anything that they peviosly had done. Actors Like Depp, Gary Oldman, Christian Bale, Christopher Walken, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Robin Williams and Bill Murray.
Actors that really get on my nerves are ones like “Action Star” Tom Cruise (I am sorry but when ever he is any action flick, he almost always plays the same charactor, when he does th more serious roles he generally pretty good.), Keanu “Whoa” Reeves, Shia Lebouf (i have not seen Eagle Eye yet, so he is somewhat pending until i see it).

I’m all for diversity, but I’m sorry, I don’t consider Depp one of those. He might be different, but the style is always the same or very similar. I liked Edward Scissorhands, but that was way back in the day and he didn’t talk, lol.

Morgan Freeman is an actor that I like even though he basically plays the same character in every movie.

Keanu Reeves is typecasted in my brain. Everytime I see him I think he’s in Bill and Ted’s Excellent Matrix Adventure or something, lol.

I absolutely hate Shia Lebouf, I don’t get the hype behind him lately, he was annoying as heck in Transformers, which wouldn’t have been so bad except they focused more on him than the transformers…

Gary Oldman I do like. He does pretty well playing different types of characters, but I’ll have to say, he’s much better as a villain.

Tom Cruise… I don’t know, there’s a split. There’s like a pre-Collateral and post Collateral split. pre-Collateral, I would agree, I don’t like him in any action roles. But as an avid shooter of over 15 years, I tend to notice how people handle weapons and other things to do with shooting. Before Collateral, he was just another typical actor. Has absolutely no clue how to properly hold and fire a weapon. So it was down to his acting to win me over, and I didn’t really like his acting. So I didn’t really like most of his movies before then. Now, for Collateral, he must be a fast learner, because he OBVIOUSLY received some real-world firearms training for that film, AND IT SHOWS. I don’t think I’ve seen a transformation like that. He really absorbed the training like a sponge, it looked natural. He handled weapons like a pro in that film. The film itself was only OK though, I loved the action scenes, but that’s about it. Then came Mission: Impossible III. He got to use so many different weapons in so many scenes in that film, so I really liked it. So for me, I especially like him in action roles now because he employs what he learned from Collateral in all of his films now apparently. I loved his part in Tropic Thunder though, lol. The guy’s a loon in real life, but I can’t help but like some of his movies.

That’s one of the main reasons why I enjoyed Punisher Warzone. Other than the times he used two weapons at once, he holds the weapons and moves correctly.

Anyway, enough about guns, you don’t want to get me started on that topic, lol.

I screened the 2 hr. 40 min. working copy of this film a few days ago. I expect Mr. Mann will edit it, but I don’t know how he can edit more than 30 minutes out…Currently there are at least a dozen well-known actors in it. All but four are very small cameo roles that could end up cut (2 examples: Steven Dorff has about 2 minutes on screen now and his only lines were during a shoot out (when everybody is shouting, he shouts too); and Emilie de Ravin is a bank teller/hostage who is on screen less than a minute & screams once. Depp was bad (I’m sad to report). He did sullen gangster well before in Donnie Brasco; here he was bland and without emotion (I believe Robert Downey Jr would have nailed the role). The plot is muddled and directionless (is it a love story? Is it about the mob and FBI killing gangsters? Is it just about Dillinger? Yes. To all three.) If all you want is to see Depp and Bale on screen, then by all means this is for you. Otherwise, pass on this one.

Ken J I assure that Johnny Depp doesn’t have to dress weird to be a good actor. I have possibly watched every movie Johnny Depp has ever made and I assure that he is the best of his generation. I will ask you to do something and please do it. Rent Pirates of the Carribean, Finding Neverland, Sweeny Todd, Donnie Brasko, Blow and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and try to watch even scenes from them right after the other and you will know why people love Johnny Depp. Yes I am a girl and I think that he is the sexiest man alive even when he is a gay/drunk pirate. But seriously there are scenes in his movie that juts blow me away like the last scene in the movie Blow please watch it and tell me what you think. Johnny Depp likes to experience and have fun with his acting that’s why he is open to dress weird or look ugly and scary but at the same time when he dresses normally he is still as talented and unique. I chose those movies for you to rent because they are mix between his normal roles and the crazy ones just to show you the kind of actor he is.
