Like his 1997 debut Gattaca, I’m.Mortal, the new film from director Andrew Niccol, offers an intriguing premise. What if everyone on the planet simply stopped aging? In I’m.Mortal, time itself is a commodity. If you’re rich, then you have lots of time and you get to live forever. If you’re poor, well…good luck.
Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried star in the film – and today we’ve got pictures of the pair on set.
Actually, on paper, this film has everything going for it. Amanda Seyfried is a star on the rise, Justin Timberlake is slowly gaining respect as an actor (thanks in part to his turn in this summer’s The Social Network), and director Andrew Niccol’s track record, while limited, is quite good. The movie also co-stars Olivia Wilde (Tron: Legacy) and Cillian Murphy (Inception), who also had a big year.
Judging from these first set pictures, the movie will look good too (or at least the people in it will). Sporting a cute new hair-do, Seyfried makes a striking red head. Likewise, Timberlake lives up to his former boy band legacy by looking sharp in a nice black suit. Come to think of it, a world full of attractive 25 year olds may not sound too bad, if it weren’t for that little problem of population control.

We’re not sure why JT is covering up Amanda’s mouth, or why she’s making sexy eyes down the street, but I’m sure it will all make sense in the context of the film. Here’s a guess: JT shows up to tell Amanda something important, she tries to shrug it off as nothing, then he covers her mouth and points to some nefarious person who has been following him.
Whatever the case, the sexy young stars look good on set and I’m hopeful that this movie turns out well. As I mentioned before, the movie has a lot going for it. Plus, since quality sci-fi is so in demand in the theaters these days, if it does turn out to be good, it will likely find an audience (even with its inexplicable title).
I’m Mortal is currently scheduled for release in 2012.
