Fans of The Hunger Games franchise don’t have much longer to wait for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2. The film – which adapts the second half of Suzanne Collins’ final novel in the trilogy – promises to deliver a thrilling conclusion to the story of Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and her struggle against the Capitol.

Perhaps one of the movie’s greatest strengths has been building up the increased presence of President Snow (Donald Sutherland), and the final chapter in the franchise is certainly honing in on the personal rivalry between him and Katniss. Case in point, the latest footage for the film specifically highlights Katniss’s story and the road leading her to that inevitable showdown.

Lionsgate has just released a new TV trailer (see above) for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, and while the footage is largely comprised of previous films and existing trailers, it accomplishes what it needs to. The spot centers on the evolution that Katniss has endured over the course of the first three films before giving viewers a taste of the upcoming adventure that is on the way – serving as the logical culmination of the narrative that director Francis Lawrence has developed with Catching Fire and Mockingjay – Part 1 (after director Gary Ross established this world with the first Hunger Games).

Although reports have swirled that The Hunger Games franchise may live on after Mockingjay – Part 2, there’s no doubt that big changes are in store for Panem in the next – and (for now) final – film. Those familiar with the books may be anxious to see Collins’ novel adapted for the screen, while moviegoers who haven’t read the series are still reeling over the cliffhanger ending of Mockingjay – Part 1.

In any case, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 has earned the right to take the story to new heights, as the film will undoubtedly end up among the year’s biggest hits. Moreover, moviegoers who have stuck with the movies deserve to see how the conflict between Katniss and Snow finally comes to a close (as well as the final big-screen performance for the late Philip Seymour Hoffman).
