Comic-Con 2013 is just around the corner, which means that the major studios, television networks and comic book organizations have started to announce which of their big projects will be featured at the international geek convention.
So far, we have learned that there’s going to be a Walking Dead comic book panel to mark the 10 year anniversary of Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore’s graphic novel. Meanwhile, upcoming television shows like Joss Whedon’s Agents of S.H.I.E.LD. and future installments in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe will be present and accounted for (to help drum up interest amongst their primary fanbase).
Lionsgate has announced that the lineup for its 2013 Comic-Con panel will include a pair of geek-friendly projects: the I, Frankenstein comic book film adaptation and – of course – the second installment in the YA sci-fi novel bestseller-turned blockbuster franchise, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Naturally, previously-unreleased footage from both films will be featured at the panel (which includes the brand-new trailer for Catching Fire).
Here is an excerpt from Lionsgate’s official press release, with more information:
Lionsgate announced today that Fandango Chief Correspondent Dave Karger will moderate a panel on Saturday, July 20th at the San Diego Comic-Con, featuring talent and exclusive footage from two of the studio’s upcoming films THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE (opening November 22, 2013, the film stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth) and I, FRANKENSTEIN (opening January 24, 2014, the film stars Aaron Eckhart, Yvonne Strahovski and Bill Nighy).
Talent from both films will be in attendance for the panel during which the studio will debut an exclusive new trailer for THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE and never-before-seen footage from I, FRANKENSTEIN.
There’s good reason to suspect that Jennifer Lawrence will be in attendance at Comic-Con 2013, given that she will appear in two hotly-anticipated geek projects on the horizon (Catching Fire and X-Men: Days of Future Past). Similarly, the main cast of I, Frankenstein is composed of geek fan-favorites; which is to say, if they all make an appearance, then the Hall H crowd will definitely give each one of them a thunderously-friendly reception.
