I’m still playing around with the concept of a regular Screen Rant column called SR Picks – where we recommend older or more obscure movies that you may not have heard of. I thought it might be a cool idea to expand that to other categories, like clothes, collectibles, posters, etc. (similar to what my buddy Pete does over at /Film with his “Cool Stuff” column.

If you’d like to recommend categories, please feel free in the comments below!

Anyway check out this brand new Iron Man statue sculpted by Bowen Designs and available through Sideshow Collectibles…

Here’s the official description:

The Hulkbuster Iron Man Statue stands over 14-inches high and weighs 10 pounds. This intricately sculpted statue is cast in high-quality polystone, a great addition to any Marvel collection!

Bowen designs always puts out high quality stuff and this looks like it’s right up there. I personally own a number of Iron Man sculptures and busts from them and I love ‘em.

In case you still have any cash despite the current economy, these are available for pre-order at Sideshow Collectibles. If you are seriously interested, you probably shouldn’t waste any time because stuff like this goes fast.

My question is how can I get one of these past my wife…

  1. “My question is how can I get one of these past my wife…”

You can’t. Don’t even try. She’ll know. They ALWAYS know.

    It is really cool though.
Although, to Hulk, it nothing more than a tin can to kick down the street. :)

  2. I think that Wizard Magazine is great at covering comic related statuary, toys, etc. All things comic book related. They’re really good at the heads up thing but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t room for one more. I’m just not seeing a connection to that type of topic here.

I like the older movie review idea. And not just good ones. I’d like to see reviews of movies to avoid. I watch a lot of old movies and sometimes I think they’re going to be good then part way through I think “I sure wish someone had warned me about this.”

And not an IMDB warning or recommendation. Although I love them too. They don’t spend much time breaking things down. And the people who do are fans which is great and of course I submit there as well but having someone whose taste you’re familiar with and trust, well that’s what you call a ‘reliable source’. :)

  3. Well seeing as:

1.I’m enough of a movie geek to run an entire site about movies.

    2. We focus on fantasy/sci-fi/superhero movies.

    3. And the fact that I *love* and collect movie related stuff.

I thought it would be of interest to readers as well.

    Vic

  4. @Vic in same format:

    1. WOO HOO!!

    2. I’m a dope as I truly didn’t realize this. Oh no, that means that I mostly watch fantasy/sci-fi/superhero movies. That’s not bad, right?

    3. You know, I was hoping you’d miss my first statement because when I saw Iron Man I thought comic statuary, then I go right to Wizard as a recommender and supplier but D’OH! I also collect movie memorabilia that isn’t all comic book related.

I have the T-Shirt that Matt Damon wore in The Bourne Identity although having moved and not found it, I don’t even want to think about how much THAT set me back. I got it directly from the movie studio when they were auctioning off Bourne items on eBay.

I have a Neo statue and a Constantine statue although that only shows my obsession with Keanu Reeves

I have a two-sided, theater display size poster from V.

I have quite the poster collection actually. So much that they’re all in tubes because I just can’t display them all.

I even have the poster from Interview with the Vampire where they forgot to have Tom Cruise wear his blue contacts for the picture. Although that’s probably not worth as much as I paid for it. It’s still a cool mistake.

I collect art work from comic book artists. Tom Flemming being one of my favorites. And my collection is almost exclusively of women. Vic, I own this one (http://www.flemart.com/soulArt.html), check it out and let me know what you think. I can’t figure out where to hang it. ;)

And you’re right, the readers are interested. I just had an “a-DUH” moment where my brain and fingers have a difference of opinion and the fingers won out.

  5. LOL, you were just in denial, that’s all. :-P

    Vic

  6. @Vic

And I try to spend most of my time there which is obvious judging by the fact that I didn’t even realize this site had a theme!

  7. Actually we don’t make it explicitly clear. We want the option to cover a wide variety of genres, but that’s what we drift towards generally.

    Vic

  8. And here you let me go on and on thinking that I was an unobservant dope! For shame, Vic! SHAME!! ;)

  9. I think it looks like the Juggernaut ate Iron Man and then broke out in an Iron Man rash.. Sorry Vic… :)

  10. @greenknight

Actually it’s VERY close to a design from the comic book, designed by Adi Granov. I’ve update the post with a picture so you can see for yourself. :-)

    Vic

  11. It looks just like the drawing but it still looks like the Juggernaut ate Iron Man and broke out in a gold and red rash…I think I’ll get me one !! :)

  12. LOL, I just wanted you to know it wasn’t some screw out of nowhere design. :-)

    Vic

  13. As much as I like ‘clothes, collectibles, posters’ (maybe less so with the clothes), I kinda like the specific scope that screenrant deals with.

  14. Kinda looks like the Juggernaut from X-Men.
it’s be cool to see those two duke it out.

  15. @arrell

Thanks for the feedback, it’s appreciated. Don’t worry, it’s not like it’ll be daily – probably once a week or less.

    Vic

  16. Yeah Vic, now that I think about it, it is rather nice to occasionally have a look what the world of collectibles has to offer (I long for the day when I have the budget to start my own collection :[). So good going.

  17. On one hand i’m glad i’m not into these things, it would cost me to much money I think, and I’m already bleeding money to try and build up a nice music collection.

If I ever win a lottery (small chance, I never particepate) I’m a get a nice bunch of these things.

The thing looks quite nice by the way, the one with the head popped oven even looks funny.

P.s. Like the SR Picks idea, keep it up.
    Greetings from the Netherlands :P

  18. Iron Man inside Iron Monger – what’s withe dual helmets, lol

  19. @Rob

Oh man, that just gave me the heebie jeebies! What would Iron Man be doing INSIDE Iron Monger? Is the story taking a new direction that I don’t know about? And if so, please tell me more! ;)
