While the bread and butter of the superhero genre is epic battles between heroes and villains, every now and then two good guys run afoul of each other as well, leading to a titanic brawl between two normally heroic characters. This conceit has been a big part of the comic book film world in 2016, with both DC’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War primarily focusing on what happens when two defenders of the innocent have a disagreement that can only be solved with outright fisticuffs.

With this type of one-on-one hero vs. hero movie proving to be a huge hit at the box office so far, one wonders just what the next combination of comic book icons to battle it out on-screen will end up being. While the world waits for the answer, it’s always fun for fans to speculate on the myriad of possible theatrical match-ups, both those likely to eventually happen and those not so likely to occur anytime soon.

One fight that fans did get a taste of recently is the Incredible Hulk vs. Iron Man. As MCU devotees will no doubt remember, last year’s Avengers: Age of Ultron featured an action-packed sequence wherein a rampaging Hulk – who had been rendered temporarily crazed due to Scarlet Witch’s mind games – posed an imminent threat to any civilians in his path, forcing Tony Stark to initiate his contingency plan for such a scenario: the Hulkbuster version of the Iron Man armor. For those who wish they had gotten to see that situation escalate even more, a new supercut fan trailer is here to offer a preview of what might happen if Iron Man and Hulk were to ever headline a movie of their own. Check it out above.

Hulk fighting Iron Man in Age of Ultron Hulk V Iron Man: Dawn of Avenging Fan Trailer

Incorporating clips from nearly every MCU movie to feature either Iron Man or Hulk, the “what if” trailer presents a possible storyline revolving around what appears to be Tony Stark’s attempt to remove the Hulk from Bruce Banner in what clearly turns out to be quite the misguided experiment. Naturally, things go horribly wrong, sending a wild and now completely unleashed Hulk out to rain destruction down upon the Marvel universe. Since it was Tony’s mistake, it of course falls to Iron Man to stop Bruce’s unwilling reign of terror.

Spicing things up is a touch that sadly might only ever be possible in a fan-created trailer. Seeing that Tony is outmatched, Nick Fury seeks out some back-up from another part of the Marvel universe, someone with arguably just as much rage inside him as Hulk: Wolverine. Via insertion of clips from FOX’s X-Men franchise, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine gets in on the action as well.

Will fans ever see a movie centered around Iron Man and Hulk facing off? It’s not an impossible proposition, but doesn’t seem all that likely, especially since Marvel Studios has been notoriously unwilling to have Hulk headline a film since the underperformance of 2008’s Edward Norton-fronted effort. Instead, fans will next see Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner in Thor: Ragnarok. Still, trailer edits like this one offer creative fans a chance to bring the fantastical just that much closer to reality, without the worry of what various studios might think.
