With just four weeks left until the release of X-Men: Days of Future Past in theaters, the worldwide press tour is beginning for Twentieth Century Fox’s latest mutant superhero adventure. And no expense will be spared for the studio’s second most expensive production to date (second only to Avatar), the most expensive comic book film ever.
The final full-length X-Men: Days of Future Past trailer – the best one yet – debuted two weeks ago and Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters this week and even features a button during the credits teasing the X-Men. The movie’s cast – one of the X-Men’s best selling points – will be doing the press rounds worldwide and franchise star Hugh Jackman will unsurprisingly doing most of the leg work.
He even made an appearing at last night’s WWE Monday Night Raw. Jackman stepped into the ring in front of a live audience with Dolph Ziggler, and Damien Sandow came in talking a big geeky game, dressed up in a cheap classic Magneto costume. Needless to say, Jackman’s theatrical experience and mindblowing physical workout regiment both came in handy. He is the best at what he does, right? Ziggler and Jackman weren’t always on the same team though:
The only way to slice and dice through that awkwardness was to have Hugh Jackman take someone out. And he did. As always, Jackman’s a good sport about it all and this just goes to show how challenging it’ll be for Fox to recast Wolverine one day. Then again, Marvel Comics just announced that they’re killing off Logan in the comics. Read about it here.
Fun fact: Jackman called up Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson for workout tips when preparing for The Wolverine.
Bryan Singer directs X-Men: Days of Future Past with newcomers Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Boo Boo Stewart, Fan Bingbing, Evan Peters, Adan Canto, Josh Helman, Evan Jonigkeit along with returning stars Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Halle Berry, Lucas Till, and Daniel Cudmore.
X-Men: Days of Future Past arrives in U.S. theaters on May 23rd, 2014, followed by Fantastic Four on June 19th, 2015, X-Men: Apocalypse on May 27th, 2016, The Wolverine 3 (not the official title) on March 3rd, 2017, Fantastic Four 2 on July 14th, 2017, and an unspecified Marvel film on July 13th, 2018.
