Warning! Spoilers ahead for House of the Dragon episode 7.House of the Dragon episode 7 "Driftmark" compels fans to share passionate reactions to Rhaenyra (Emma D'Arcy) and Daemon (Matt Smith)'s new circumstances on social media. The Game of Thrones prequel series has just three remaining episodes as the inaugural season hurtles towards its end. In episode 7, the show picked up considerable momentum by marrying Rhaenyra, the heir to the Iron Throne, to her recently-single Uncle Daemon.

A relationship between Rhaenyra and Daemon that is less like uncle and niece and more like lovers has been an ongoing theme in the series, most notably in episode 4 "King of the Narrow Sea" when they share a kiss. While the primary incestuous relationship in Game of Thrones between Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and his sister Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) was one most loved to hate, House of the Dragon viewers seem to feel differently about Rhaenyra and Daemon.

It's clear that in the eyes of some viewers, Rhaenyra and Daemon are Westeros' newest power couple. As relatives, their interests clashed, particularly after King Viserys (Paddy Considine) reorganized his succession line and placed Rhaenyra above Daemon in House of the Dragon episode 1. However, as a couple, Rhaenyra and Daemon share the same end goal: preserve their ascension to the Iron Throne. Reunited, it seems the two will have the adoration of viewers as they jockey for political respect.

Rhaenrya and Daemon are now bound in opposition to Queen Alicent (Olivia Cooke) in definitively drawn battle lines. Alicent, who once showed a hint of attraction to Daemon early in the series, drew Rhaenyra's blood in a public meltdown and is seemingly beginning to lose control of herself and her allies. Meanwhile, Rhaenyra and Daemon's union puts King Viserys in the impossible position of having to choose sides between his wife or his now-married daughter and brother. Based on the reaction to the episode, many viewers have decided who they hope to see be victorious in the Westeros civil war.

Ultimately, House of the Dragon will need to tee up a situation where viewers could plausibly see Aerys II Targaryen, aka The Mad King, on the Iron Throne in a few generations to solder the prequel series to Game of Thrones. Rhaenyra and Daemon, both traditionalists in the ways of Old Valyria, have fiery personalities and demonstrative ambition. If the two were to procreate, viewers could reasonably see their child become the ultimate Targaryen heir with pure blood and a royal calling. An inbred child of Rhaenyra and Daemon would be a sensible vessel for passing on the genes that led to the Mad King becoming who he was. Perhaps this will be explored before the end of season 1, or in the green-lit House of the Dragon season 2.
