Wow, just wow, can we get instead of these either
A.) A decent D&D film (wizards being associated with hasbro)
B.) Heroscape the film, orginally a board/war game of hasbro’s now owned by wizards,
At least those films could have a plot, monopoly really?
My prediction it will be an epic trilogy that, wait for it, covers just one game of monopoly.

Monopoly? Monopoly? Seriously? Is there a shortage of creative minds in Hollywood? Why not come up with something original instead of making a movie about a board game. It’s silly.

I’m fine with Hot Wheels. Sure to bring my inner kid out just like speed racer did for me (yes i liked it, so what?) But just thinking about Ridley Scott doing Monopoly makes me want to fall over and cry. Such a respected director should be able to think of a better concept to spend millions of dollars on. Grr

I don’t dismiss any idea as un-filmable, but that said, when a studio decides to back a film off of something as flimsy as a toy product, without a script to sell it, then odds are that the result will be bad, not because that good films cannot be made from these things (honestly, if you just read the summary set-up for Ratatouille, you’d never guess a hit was in there, same with Pirates of the Caribbean), but rather that the desire to make a film came before there was a good idea to justify it being made.

It’s not: “Hey, we’ve got a hot toy product. Let’s make a movie about it!” It’s: “Hey, this toy product is really cool and it’s inspiring all kinds of great story ideas which can be put to film!”. The latter has a shot at being good. The former, not so much.

I thought GI Joe were toys from the 50’s and that they relaunched the toy line in the 80’s with the TV series as well to coincide with the toy launch.

Geez, most of the toys I used to play with as a kid are all movies now anyways..Star Wars, Spider-man, Superman, Six Million Dollar Man(Ok not that one), Scooby-Doo, Flinstones, etc..

No talking cars though huh Mattel..Right Pixar already did that and are doing it again in 2012 with Cars 2..It has been a huge merchandising winfall for Pixar and Disney..

We are on the brink of the apocalypse because they (Hollywood) have run out of ideas and not just good ideas but bad ideas too. They have tapped the comics genre and that well will soon be exhausted..the video game genre been done to death badly, any book that is worth owning the rights too has been snatched up, they have already started to rape cherished classics for remake like TDESS with disatrous results..

Hey lets start making full length features of all our favorite commercials from the 70’s and 80’s..They don’t have to be good because these people in Hollywood have already shown us they will make anything into a movie..

M+M’s= Murder and Mayhem with a candy coating!!
Pampers DXL- about rich socialites who have lost control of their bladders and bowels but still find time to look down their noses at everyone..

Nothing from Hollywood suprises me anymore..

Unbelievable!! A sure sign that hollywood has completely run out of original ideas!

The casting call for Battleship will require perspective actors to be able to call out spacial coordinates accurately (bingo callers encouraged!). Candyland will require a color blindness test for all cast and crew.

Magic 8-Ball may be do-able though. Some poor sap’s life turned upside-down by one of those vague prognosticators. Think along the lines of ‘Lier Lier’.

The Barbie DVD’s are actually pretty good. Mostly classic fairy-tales with updated slants and decent animation. The last one ‘ A Christmas Carol’, aimed at young girls was done well, (in my opinion).

What I can’t wait to see is what actually comes of these lame ideas!

Transformers and G.I. Joe were TV shows as well. I don’t think they started off as toys. I am much more receptive to them than I am to moves about toys that have never been anything more than toys. Besides, I enjoyed the first Transformers, and I’m hyped about the second.
