Yeah, that’s a seriously cool pic.

Surma says:

If they screw up Ironman I will be pissed beyond anything. This gives me more hope than I already had. He’s been my favorite Super hero since child hood. Which is part of the reason I started visiting this site, is because I knew you were such a big Ironman fan

adrian says:

Truely a masterpiece! Wouldn’t know if I’d run or stare in amazement. The masses are predicting DK to be the king of 08′, but wait til they see Tony in action!

KEL says:

Check it. Another great and realistic looking superhero suit that’s respectful of the comics. Dammit why can’t they be as kind to Batman?!!

Ah well. I’m not gonna start another rant about the batsuit in this thread,so don’t worry folks. ;-)

The picture is nothing short of awesome,I can’t wait to see another trailer for the movie. This film,IMO will emerge as next year’s “Spider-Man”.

Adrian says:

I’m with you Kel. Both IM and Hulk look to be equal to Spiderman quality.

Adrian says:

Also seems to be a rumor floating around about Hulk and IM showing up in either one or both films. Same rumor said that Nick Fury will be in both films. Crossing fingers for both.

John Taylor says:

Looks great! And I don’t think they should show us anymore trailers. Our appetites have been wet enough just seeing IM fly with those jets. Sometimes I feel action movies show too much of the film in these trailers.

Adrian says:

I agree, Too much given away leads to a predictable film. Looking forward to surpises.

Bishop says:

Because of the trailers and images like this I have a renewed respect for Iron Man.

He is also my character of choice for Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. ;)

Hirogen says:

I tend to agree with John. While it has been awesome to see the pics and videos thus far, I think enough is enough. I mean I would kidding myself if I said I didn’t want to see more, but then sense sets in and tells me that there will be no surprise left in the movie if much more info/pics/videos are released. That being said, I’m also looking forward to the video game as much as I am the movie after seeing the videos that are getting around the internet at the moment.

That’s the problem, isn’t it? We’re all hungry for more info, images and video but every new bit we see takes away from the wonder of seeing the film for the first time.

I think this is the problem with seeing so much of Heath Ledger as the Joker in The Dark Knight. Plus, the new poster would have been MUCH more effective if we hadn’t already seen the Joker in such detail.

Vic

steve adams says:

Yeah this film is looking better every clip we see.
I’m also really glad they cast RDJ as Stark. I only hope he comes back for the sequels that are practically guaranteed at this point.
I’m already. declaring “IRONMAN” the biggest superhero film of 2008. Barly beating out DARK KNIGHT based on its shear believabilty factor and terrorist connections. I believe Vietnam was the local in the comics. Seems they have changed that to reflect our times.
^
On previews):)
Think of how much the fans are going to pick apart the new Trek when the pics start coming out. Increase your bandwidth now Vic !!!
^
Also in my lame opinion, for the Justice League film to be successfull they need to cast the actors that allready play them.
^

I’m talking Bale, Routh, Downey Jr,,,if they cast them it would be a massive success.
I see a trend here with the Justice League film and there copying the new trek theme “recast with youngins”. Aaaaaahhhh
^
Lame I say ,lame!!

It’ll be interesting to see how a relatively unknown character like Iron Man does as far as box office. I don’t see it beating TDK unless it just breaks out like crazy. I also don’t know if the terrorist angle will help or hurt, but I’ll be happy to finally see a movie where the bad guys are Middle Eastern instead of U.S. soldiers. :-\

“Check it. Another great and realistic looking superhero suit that’s respectful of the comics. Dammit why can’t they be as kind to Batman?!!”

For that matter, why couldn’t they have been as kind to the Transformers. Even I, someone who doesn’t know much about Ironman’s history and origins, know this looks right. I have to say this is definitely a movie I’m looking forward to seeing.

Vic says:

Flame, the movie armor is almost a dead-on replica of the armor in the comics right now.

Vic

Hirogen says:

Iron Man is an unknown? Umm, I live in Australia, hardly the worlds comic book centre, but most people are at least aware of Iron Man…are they not? Obviously I could be wrong, I mean I have no idea of his level of popularity in the states.

Vic says:

I’ll tell you what. Go to your local mall or mega shopping center and at random ask people if they’ve ever heard of Iron Man.

Report back with your results. :-)

Vic

steve adams says:

Adrian that would be awesome if IM and Hulk were in the same films!!!!

Hirogen, I love Australia, Farscape is one of my Top 10 favorite sci-fi shows!!!

Endri says:

IT LOOKS PLASTIC

Adrian says:

Endri, IMHO, when IM on the screen, I believe he’ll look heavy and solid like metal, and also sound heavy and solid like metal. But not to sound touch like a “wise guy”, this suit is mostly plastic because of the weight.

KEL says:

Vic,I actually went around and asked some folks if they’d ever heard of Iron Man,and the majority of people who were familiar with anything called Iron Man were talking about the song, not the superhero.

But still,Transformers wasn’t that big a thing, and neither were X-Men,and both emerged as box office successes. Heck, even Spider-Man wasn’t that popular a character, and it’s the biggest superhero movie of all time! So I don’t think IM will have any problem ruling next year’s box office if hyped right. He’s got a colorful costume, becuz he’s kind of unknown he might be this generation’s hero cuz he’s not bogged down by so many different versions like Batman or Superman, the film looks action packed and you know that’s a money grabbing ingredient, and the film gets pretty much 100% approval from comix fans. The only thing,IMO,that might stop people from seeing it (the reg movie audience, anyway) is the casting of Downey as Tony Stark/IM. I think it’s a great choice, personally, but there are some people who say things like “he’s too short”,and “isn’t he a drug and booze guy”,I’ve even heard a guy say he doesn’t like him cuz he’s “weasily”,there are also people who can’t seem to seperate the actor’s personal life (any actor or actress in any movie, not just IM) from his film career and the character he plays that won’t go to see the movie just because of that. And there are people like that for every movie, you know? But I ultimately think the film will be a huge success,I have grown to like everything about the film so far,I’ve even grown to like the armor they’re using (even tho I originally wanted to see the classic suit, through my conversations with Vic and other IM fans {like myself},I’ve come to the conclusion that an armor more in line with the current comix style armor would work better on screen). The only thing that I’ve found with the movie that could possibley give me a reason to doubt so far would be the line from the trailer “You have till tomorrow to assemble my missile”,as I believe Stark had a week to assemble some lethal device in the comix, making the idea that he could create an electronic, life sustaining suit of armor out of spare parts and transistors in a wounded and captive state much more plausible. But,eh,it’s not that big a deal, right? I mean,if anything,it means more time for other things in the movie, like IM battles and stuff, right? And who knows? Maybe Stark was given one week to assemble the missile and the scene in the trailer is day 6.

Steve Adams, you mentioned Downey Jr. when you were talking about the cast of the JLA film. You do know Iron Man isn’t part of the JLA,right? He’s not even a DC comics character. ;-)

FlameStrike says:

Vic: I knew it was accurate and respectful of the comics look, but I didn’t realize it was that accurate. Very well done by the movie-makers.

Niall says:

I really want to see this, but The Dark Knight is still top of my list. I’m a D.C man.

KEL says:

I’m more of a DC guy too,Batman’s my favorite superhero and has been since I was a lad,but I am honestly looking forward to IM more. Cuz,to be honest,we’ve seen Batman on film before, but we’ve NEVER seen an Iron Man movie before,so that’s got me excited! And besides,IM might just be the best comix adaptation yet! IM is my most anticipated film of 2008,even tho IM comes in 3rd on my list of favorite superheroes. Which,I don’t know why,I feel compelled to list for you:

1.Batman
2.Superman
3.Iron Man and Captain America (Steve Rogers)
4.Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) and Flash (Barry Allen)
5.the Atom (Ray Palmer)

List of fave teams:

1.JLA
2.Avengers
3.Fantastic 4
4.JSA
5.the original X-Men

Sorry. I couldn’t help myself. :-D

Yeah your right Adrian about IM in the JLA. It was late I had a few drinks,,I was thinking 52 weeks/JLA movie ,,,

Looking back what I meant was in general if they have Batman and Superman in JLA shoundnt they be played by Bale and Rrouth*

I was a fan of the animated JLA back when it was on Saturday morn I remember the wondertwins and that friken blue genie thingy.
^
It just seems lame to recast those superheroes. Maybe I’m way off on this thread but is this JLA going to be hardcore or for kids mainly???

Anyway I enjoyed your post!!! Nice to see all these IRONMAN fans supporting this film. !!!

Lastly,,, does anyone mention Plastic when Darth Vader is on screen?

I find your lack of faith in FX disturbing…::o Retraction !!!!!! :o

KEL says:

LOL,dude! It’s KEL,BTW,but don’t worry,happens to me all the time.;-)

Ahh yes,the “superfriends” show. Sheeeesh. Try not to mention that when we’re talking about the JLA movie.;-) :-D

And I think the JLA fim will probably take itself seriously, like Batman Begins or Superman Returns. The script I’ve seen certainly did. I don’t see why they’d have to do a “Sky High” style kiddie flick, but it shouldn’t be an “R”. It should be around a PG-13 level, like Spider-Man,IMO.

steve adams says:

Sorry Kel that’s like what the 3rd mistake after the Superfriends ref?
^
Anyone else turn 40 today? =€ (that’s how I look from know on).=>
^
JLA, what’s the deal Kel? Is it going to be current with the timelines of our Batmans and Supermans?? I think I’ve read that different actors are playing these roles… But I’m prob wrong again on something..=€ lol, cauf cauf.

KEL says:

Hey dude, that’s OK. I was joking about the Superfriends refference,LOL! :-D

Well, based on the reports I’ve seen the Superman and Batman featured in JLA are completely seperate versions from the ones seen in previous Superman and Batman films. And they are most certainly casting new actors for the parts of Superman and Batman. The actors rumored to be playing Superman are D.J. Cotrona,Scott Porter, and Josh Duhamel (slim picckens). So outa that crowd you’ve got a guy who’s under 6 ft.(Porter),a guy who,IMO,looks a little hispanic (Cotrona),and a guy who just doesn’t really strike me as Superman (Duhamel),plus,I have NO idea how tall Cotrona and Duhamel are, which has bugged the heck outa me! Oh,yeah, and an actor named Andy Whitfield was supposedly rumored to have been cast as Superman too. For Batman it sounds as though 21 year old unknown actor Armie Hammer has nabbed the role, not a bad choice,IMO,but the guy is 6′ 5′ (supposedly),which is actually taller than the actual character Batman (who is 6′ 2′). Superman is 6′ 4′ in the comix, and the guy playing Superman in JLA needs to be at least 6′ 3′,especially if the guy playing Batman is 6′ 5′! They could always make the soles (right word?) in Superman’s boots thicker, but then you still have to deal with the 6′ 5′ dude playing Batman who’s sure to have a cowl with at least 2 inch long ears. It all seems a bit glum,IMO right now. And I REALLY wanted to see this movie, what I read of the script was great, but the film could be ruined by the wrong casting. It would also ruin a dream that’s been mine since childhood,a JLA movie.

Oh,as for the rest of the cast,it sounds like we’ve got:

Adam Brody as Flash (not 100% sure which Flash, cuz both Barry Allen and Wally West/Kid Flash are in the movie, supposedly Barry is the Flash for the greater part of the film and Wally becomes Flash at the end cuz Barry dies {I’m extremely happy that they chose to use Barry Allen as Flash,he’s the best Flash in every sense of the word,IMO,and gets no fair treatment in the comix these days})

Common as Green Lantern (John Stewart, the african american GL,not the Hal Jordan GL that everyone, myself included, seems to like best)

Megan Gale as Wonder Woman

No word yet on who will play the Martian Manhunter, but according to superherohype.com Santiago Cabrera has been cast as Aquaman.

I hope that helped some, steve. Oh,and you can feel free to make as many Superfriends refferences you want, that show is just sorta infamous when it comes to the JLA,LOL! :-D

steve adams says:

Thanks Kel!
Wow I’m surprised there going that way casting wise.
Casting for Batman and Superman should be a main priority for those two and it looks well, kinda lame. I hate to see a possible train wreck before it happens.
^
Thanks for all the info… Certainly cleared things up for me and I’m sure a few other readers too.
^
^
They should turn the Marvel comic storyline “Civil War” into a film.
That would be a huge hit if done right with the original actors allready cast,..

Hirogen says:

Main problem there would be the length. To squeeze that much content from so many different characters would be a tough one…But I sure as hell would love to see it! Shame Iron Man kinda gets painted as an arsehole though…Poor Iron Man.

steve adams says:

Hirogen, they could make it the sequel to IRONMAN how cool would that be.
Shoot CIVIL WAR in 3 parts all at once. It could show Ironmans point of view and how he got screwed.
^
Also by that point there should be a sequel to CIVIL WAR and the resurrection of Cap America??
^
If DC is going to do a JLA film Marvel should do Civil War.

Hirogen says:

Or they could just do what they have said they want to do, The Avengers. Either way they can do the right thing and use RDJ and Edward Norton and whoever else they cast for future Marvel movies and I feel make it more “Proper” than what I have heard of the JLA movie. I do however like your ideas of combining a few different movies/sequels to form a Civil War storyline, very nice indeed.

Vic says:

Ack. I wouldn’t want to see the Civil War storyline on the big screen. Too depressing and too complex to fit into one film.

Vic

Adrian says:

With you, Vic. Even thought seeing superheros combating in live action would be cool, Civil War was way too depressing and long. Looking forward to maybe a total enraged Hulk taking on the rest of the Avengers(IM,Cap,Thor,Wasp,Antman)and S.H.I.E.L.D. with massive destruction. Now that should happen in the Avengers movie!

Alcadyzaar says:

This comment is a little behind….

KEL, you stated:
“Transformers wasn’t that big a thing, and neither were X-Men,and both emerged as box office successes. Heck, even Spider-Man wasn’t that popular a character, and it’s the biggest superhero movie of all time!”

I’ll trump you the Transformer’s statement, but what are you talking about with the others?? FYI… X-men and Spiderman and Fantastic 4 have been Marvel’s best selling comics since their inductions!!

Iron Man is NOT as well known as them, or Superman, or Batman. BUT I’m willing to bet that it is at least as well known as Transformers was and I think it will gain a ton of momentum and earn a lot of attention, and still be a block buster, probably bigger than TDK (I think TDK has hurt itself with a more gruesome Joker).

KEL says:

No,no,no dude, you misunderstood me. I meant to the mainstream movie audience, you know, the non comic book people are unfamiliar with Iron Man. I mean, anyone reading comix has defanitely heard of Iron Man,Fantastic 4 and X-Men,cuz,as you mentioned Alca, they’re some of comicdom’s best selling titles since their introduction, which is why they’re getting big budget movies now days. Sorry you had to type all that out,I know that’s always a pain in the ass, typing what someone else said, but I don’t think there’s a quote button tho (looks at Vic suggestively ;-) . And I agree,Alca,IM will probably out-perform Dark Knight for a number of reasons, one of wich is they kind of hurt themselves by making the Joker so DISGUISTING looking, with the cut face and stuff,it reminds me of what Burton did to the Penguin in Batman Returns, which is part of why the movie was the second least grossing Batman film of all time. Batman Returns wasn’t really a Batman movie anyway,it was more of a Tim Burton movie with Batman in its title if you think about it,Batman and Batman Begins were Batman movies though.

Steve Adams: Civil War would be cool, but it would be impossible to make,IMO,anyway (an animated or CG animated flick like the PIXAR stuff would be neat tho),and to be honest,I don’t think I could take another “let’s make Iron Man a ‘facist’ ass” thing, that’s why I’m glad that the IM film will be seperate from the current comix,we can see more of the classic Tony that we all know and love that way,and I don’t think I could take another Captain America death (loved that character),and besides,I think the closest thing Marvel’s got to an equivelant of DC’s JLA film would be their Avengers flick (which I’m anxiously awaiting).

I’m glad the info I provided was some help,Steve, did you look up the pictures of the actors (bear with me,I just wanted to see some of what might be playing my favorite heroes) and actresses on Google Images like I did? The 14 page script summary that I read from UGO.com sounded pretty good,I’m just worried about the casting. I hope that when WB announces the cast they will pleasantly surprise us and put to death some of these nightmare rumors of short dudes playing Superman and stuff. If they screw this movie up,it will ruin the JLA and some of the characters for years, and no one will touch the team or any DC characters other than Superman and Batman for decades.

KEL says:

Oh yeah,Steve Adams, did I mention that the rumored runtime for JLA is
only 90 MINUTES?!! I’m REALLY MAD about that,I think out of everything bad I’ve heard about the film so far that’s the thing that’s got me ticked the most! Can you believe that?! A movie like that should run AT LEAST 2 hours and 15 minutes!!

steve adams says:

Yea 90 min is short for a film with all those characters.
Also Kel I’ll try to check out those pics later..
^
This JLA films really sounds like a disaster…!
^
Also
I guess from alot of the posts an Avengers film would be better than a civil war film/s.
I could go for that!!! Avengers I’m sure would really make this JLA film look bad, (I’m hoping we get to see it!)!!
^
Thanks again Kel for all the great info!!

KEL says:

Hey,anytime dude! Also,I just checked out the pictures cuz I’m a JLA freak, you don’t have to or anything,I was just saying that’s what I did. ;-)

Vic and the other good folks here at screenrant.com post a lot of JLA movie news here at the site, and what you don’t find here you can ususally find at supermanhomepage.com,superherohype.com,batman-on-film.com,voicesfromkrypton.com,IESB.net,and slashfilm.com. I can’t seem to get enough of what’s going on with the project,so I’m constantly searching EVERYWHERE for more news. :-D

KEL says:

Crap. I think I just turned this into the JLA movie thread. :-0 ;-)

steve adams says:

Haha Kel, we’ll I enjoyed the JLA info even if it wasn’t too incouraging…
^
=€

KEL says:

LOL! I’m glad I could be of service,Steve.

Kyle says:

I’m kinda bummed the Mandarin won’t be a major threat, at least at first. The Iron Monger is an okay villain, though. Who knows? I’d like to possibly see the Crimson Dynamo in a possible sequel.

Jae Senn says:

Oh man.. haven’t visited Screenrant in the past week and BOY, did I regret missing this!!!

The armor.. gosh.. THE ARMOR!!! It looks brilliant at this point!!! I sure hope the story is worth a damn and the effects are grounded in reality and not a stupid CGI orgy whereby the graphics designers are doing CGI scenes for the sake of doing CGI scenes (like those Star Wars Episode 1-3 flicks).

By the way, the armor isn’t really a replica of what’s currently in the comics.. the one in the comics right now (the Extremis armor) has a triangular/pentagonal unibeam and a much more different helmet. The arms and legs are less ‘busy’ too.

Nevertheless, I can’t wait to catch the movie..

Adrian says:

Have you guys seen the IM action figures? Very nice!!! A great look of the Mongel and Mark 2. Should visited Advanced Iron.org or the IM myspace group.
