Can I wear it?

How do i get the rights to use a Marvel Movie’s actual mold to make replica’s and sell them for rediculous amounts of money. What a scam

February 20th, 2008
LOL, Rob I guess you don’t own ANY collectibles of any kind.

No one forces you to buy anything and some folks (including myself) love this stuff.

I couldn’t help myself, I pre-ordered one.

I won’t have to pay for it until it ships this Fall. :-)

Ok I know sideshow stuff is always really expensive, but holy cow 700 bucks.

Mantis,

You think I actually have the money to PAY for this? LOL.

And I’m really glad my wife doesn’t read this site. :-)

Wow $700.
^
Is that because it lights up….
I’ve always thought if they would bring the price down on some of this stuff they would sell more?
^
Looks cool but they should have included more of his chest gear.

“Iron Man’s bust is hot.”

Vic, repeat after me. “I am powerless over this infatuation.”

If Robert Downey Jr.’s head is under there, I’ll definitely pony up.

Otherwise…

steve adams said,

Is this bust really $700 bucks?

I would maybe spend that much on a REAL size helmet and chest piece. Maybe.
^
I guess since they only make a limited amount of these things there trying to create a high end collectabilty factor???
^
If true,,,
$700 bucks,,,that’s just overpriced even with the lights.
Maybe if it also acted as a Wifi-router then maybe.
^
Looks cool though.

LOL, Jim… I guess I’d better bookmark thesaurus.com here pretty quick. :-)
Steve, yeah, it IS on the very high side. I’ll wait and see how many of these they limit it to AND just how crazy successful the movie is to decide whether I’ll follow through with the order. :-)
But this video makes me feel better about my decision…

This looks to be one of the best pieces Sideshow has created! Any Iron Man fan would be crazy not to buy this item (unless your lacking funds of course!). Depending on how limited it is you will see the price double in aftermarket for sure. Locked in my purchase and I can’t wait! Those that don’t buy now will be sorry. Judging by how fast all the rest of their stuff sells out this one won’t take long.

Vic, my porn blocker won’t let me see past the part when he says “flick the switch.” What happens after that, anyway??

steve adams said,
February 21st, 2008

Jim maybe your pornBlocker thinks Iron Man’s not fully dressed?

Jim Carey said,
February 21st, 2008

Steve, it’s actually a homage to a comment (can’t remember the author) from one of my first visits here. I think reacting to the first Iron Man trailer. They said, THIS IS PORN! Hilarious!

Marvel (etc.) knows that it’s porn, and they keep waving it in front of us. We really could use a 12-Step Program.

steve adams said,

Porn Blocker isn’t real? Sounds like a V-chip option.

Yeah Jim I remember a few years back there was a store in Burbank Ca. (where I live) called “Creature Features”. They had wall to wall superhero and sci-fi film busts of allmost every character you could think of and some really obscure ones.
^
Problem was they were all pretty expensive. You would think this kind of store would thrive in this town but after about 6+ years they folded up…
RIP Creature Features!

On the contrary Vic,

I have a room just for storing a vast collection of figures from Star Wars Action Fleet (only missing 3 vehicles), nearly the entire Marvel Legends Series minus some of the new Hasbro nonsense, Trek Playmates ships and figures from the early and mid 90s, Transformers from the new movie and Beast Wars, McFarlane Hockey and Jack Bauer Statues, and Toy Biz LOTR. I also have Binders for every Marvel Card Collection that came out between 1990-1997

not very ‘obvious’ that i dont own ANY collectables of ANY kind eh…way to make a wrong assumption jerk

I certainly down own any single item I paid hundreds for because they don’t have much a value for their price…It’s like buying one of them Star Wars Sideshow Collectables of an AT-AT…goodluck re-selling it on ebay, you make get a quarter what you paid.

steve adams said,
February 21st, 2008

You know come to think of it I’ve seen a Iron Man bust collection recently that had 3 different versions of Iron Man Armor.
^
They don’t light up but it was priced around $150.

steve adams said,
February 21st, 2008

Rob your 1st post reads like a guy that is upset with this collectable “scam” industry, then you reply that you have a whole fricken ROOM full of this crap and Vic is a jerk for replying to your post.
(I think your kind of self hating Rob). Deep down you know you can’t show anyone that room, (except for your close geek friends). That’s cool were all Geeks here. (But Vics no jerk, you kinda sound like maybe a ..?…).
How would Vic know about your room?
^
I envy your secret room Rob, I call mine Public Storage Facility space#246 up on the 3rd floor… Sounds kinda Starfleet-ish huh?

Ps
McFarlane Hockey? Haaa haaa (kid from Simpsons)

If it where up to me, I would charge 150.00 and sell a ton of them instad of a limited one that only sells a few. That’s why I stopped collecting when prices went way to high. The painting and details are great as well as the labor went into it… but there’s only about 20.00 worth of actual materials involved, not counting the packaging; add another 2.00. When you do it in bulk the costs are waaay down. Like CD’s are 15.00 and up and the artist only gets about a buck of that. Bring the prices down, sell MORE, make MORE money, make MORE loyal FANS that OOME BACK and buy AGAIN, and AGAIN. Making cents now? :)

steve adams said,
February 23rd, 2008

Yes Nkeg, reality strikes back!!

These fricken busts costs less then it does to buy them, BIG TIME.

I totally agree!

Hey Sideshow and Stan Winston!!!

Read this from Jon F from Wondercon (Talking about Iron Man)…

“… He (Jon) then pointed out that it is important that filmmakers maintain a dialogue with fans. The voices of the fans were responsible for getting “Iron Man” this far and keeping it a project that they would want to see.”

Does that sink in a little? We WANT to BUY ALL OF YOUR ‘Collectables’, but if you only make a few, you only make a ‘few’ dollars!

I can’t believe your Accountants (or whoever)presented this pricing for approval:

“We sell 500 at 700.00 bucks each and we’ll make $350,000 bucks!” I would have LOVED to have sat in on that PowerPoint presentation!

It should have been “We sell 5000 at 250.00 bucks each and we’ll make $1,250,000 bucks!”

Hmmmm… do you think that that ‘person’ would still be working for ‘you’ if you owned ‘Sideshow’? I doubt it. Sideshow… Stan… we truly love you but to ‘keep us’ and the ‘product/selling’ wheel turning please give us what we waht! (If it’s not sinking in, please read the beginning again.)

-A sad day at Stark Industries.

The pricing reminds me of this quote: “This is gonna feel like Sex… but it’s not!”

(Feel free to copy this and post it anywhere!)

Hey Pal!
Just be glad they are making such a beautiful piece.

They haven’t announced an edition size. For all we know they will make 5000 of these at $750 a pop! That’s $3,750,00. How’s that for your power point presentation.

So quit whining and just buy one before there all gone.

I pre-ordered this just cause I know i’ll never tire of owning it. I don’t care about resell value, don’t have any plans to part company with it, even though im not incredibly well off. Its just a thing of beauty.
