Hollywood Wax Museum & Hollywood Props Auction

If you’ve ever been to the Hollywood Wax Museum, you know it’s a rather interesting static display of things cool, memorable, and waxy.

For the first time ever, The Hollywood Wax Museum is offering up over 200 different items for auction. The items aren’t just hand-sculpted wax figures, but they’re also auctioning off some original costumes. These wax figures are the same ones that have been seen by millions of visitors to the Hollywood, CA and Branson, MO museum locations, since the 1970s to present day.

The auction will be conducted by the venerable auction house, Profiles in History, who is the world’s leading Hollywood memorabilia dealer.

Profiles in History have had some cool auctions in the past, but you do need some serious play cash stashed for some of the incredible goodies they auction off.

Some of the costumes they are auctioning off include

• Robert Englund’s Freddy Krueger costume;
• Jason Voorhees’ costume from Freddy vs. Jason;
• Irene Ryan’s “Granny” hat from The Beverly Hillbillies

• Presidents Washington, Lincoln, Kennedy, Nixon, Ford, Reagan and Clinton;
• Princess Diana

Each of the figures come with a signed certificate of authenticity from the Hollywood Wax Museum.

Proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to help the preservation efforts to the historic Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Of course, if this wax sale isn’t up your alley, maybe you want some cool props or gadgets to accent your budding collection!

The day before the Hollywood Wax Museum items hit the auction block, there’s a collection of seriously hot goodies being put up for auction.

Does this blaster look familiar?

The Harrison Ford “Rick Deckard” hero blaster from Blade Runner is estimated to end up sold for anywhere from $100,000-$150,000. It is considered the “holy grail” of Sci-Fi weapons, so I wouldn’t be too surprised what that goes for.

Of course, who else might be able to boast about the latest in home protection, when you have the Ray Park “Darth Maul” fighting lightsaber from Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace. That’s estimated to leave the block somewhere between $40,000-$60,000. Dang… I almost can.

Of course you’d be all the rage at Halloween if you stumbled after people wearing this nifty little bit of Hollywood history. It’s the original Creature from the Black Lagoon hero “Gill Man” mask from Revenge of the Creature. Of course, I think you’d be extremely nuts if you were to stalk around in a mask that might cost you between $60,000-$80,000, but hey, we all have our quirks.

Among the 1,100 items going up for bid are

• Johnny Depp’s and Christina Ricci’s hero costumes from Sleepy Hollow
• Harrison Ford’s “Rick Deckard” “Voight Kampff” costume
• The original battle display from Small Soldiers
• Two Velociraptors feeding on a Triceratops display from Jurassic Park
• A ring worn by Bela Lugosi as Count Dracula
• Bela Lugosi’s robe from The Raven
• A full set of screen-used Pteranodons from Jurassic Park III
• A screen-used Hunter/Killer Tank from The Terminator
• Hugh Jackman’s “Wolverine” hero claws from X-Men: The Last Stand
• Ewan McGregor’s “Obi-Wan Kenobi” lightsaber from Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace
• Arnold Schwarzenegger’s “T-800 Terminator” stunt Gatling gun from Terminator 2: Judgment Day
• John Belushi’s prison employee identification card from The Blues Brothers
• Dominic Chianese’s “Uncle Junior” revolver used to shoot “Tony Soprano” in The Sopranos

The above items are expected to net anywhere from $6,000 to $60,000, depending on the item. All of these items will be going up for bid on April 30 and May 1, 2009. Worldwide bidding begins at 12:00 PM (noon) April 30 and 11:00 AM May 1. The Hollywood Wax Museum auction starts on May 1.

Profiles of History is a high profile auction house that helps auction off some of the neatest things from Hollywood. Of previous auctions, they’ve helped sell a full-scale model T-800 Endoskeleton from Terminator 2: Judgment Day ($488,750); a King Kong six-sheet movie poster ($345,000); the Command Chair from the “U.S.S. Enterprise” ($304,750) and some seriously other cool things. I would have loved to have a full scale T-800 in my home. My wife on the other hand, would probably pull the arm off and come after me with it for spending that much money!
