Heroes took a giant leap in the right direction with Volume 4: Fugitives, and it helped erase some of the bad memories many of us had with the previous two volumes which were really bringing down the show.

The series, which had been subject to a lot of negative criticism, was back on a high note and those of us still watching were looking to be in for a treat the next season, thanks to some awesome additions to the cast and some much-improved storylines put into play where the show left off.

Today, we have a brand new video for you today which features one of the newest and coolest additions to the cast of Heroes, Ray Park.

This latest video showcases Jack Coleman’s character, Noah Bennet, watching Park’s super speed ability in a little fight sequence with Milo Ventimiglia’s Peter Petrelli. It is titled “Blurring Blades.” Watch and see what you think:

UPDATE: Thanks to Screen Rant reader Jimmy, here’s a Youtube version for our foreign friends:

I love Ray Park and I really enjoyed the latest volume of Heroes. With the additions of Ray Park, Ernie Hudson and Robert Knepper to the cast, I thought things were going to be even better with this next volume.

That being said, this video is not that good. The sound is okay but the music they chose for it doesn’t fit at all. Where’s the intensity and cool factor? The fight looks weak due to the emphasis of their speed power and it wastes an opportunity to showcase some amazing choreography from Park. It’s simply not that cool which it damn well should be with Ray Park fighting Peter Petrelli in it… with knives!

What happened here? There’s some pretty easy fixes for this scene and I hope it’s improved when the episode airs.

I’m not too worried though because the full preview for Redemption we saw a few weeks back looked great and I still have high hopes for this upcoming season. I hope some of the new cool characters stick around for a while. These additions represent some talented people and I expect their characters to be very entertaining.

What did you think of the video and are you excited to see the show return?

Season 4 (Volume 5: Redemption) of Heroes debuts with a 2 hour premiere on Monday, September 21, 2009.

If you’re a Park fan like me, make sure to check out our post on him wanting to play Iron Fist in a potential Marvel Studios film.

  1. What I find most encouraging about that clip is that they don’t have a lot of pointless chit chat between the characters fighting. They kept it to the action, as it would really be in such a situation. Nicely done. I’ve been a patient fan throughout all the seasons of Heroes. I will admit to concerns to the whole plot twist at the end of last season involving Nathan and Sylar. That felt a bit too plot-driven versus character-driven for me. I just don’t believe that the folks involved would have done what they did. Seemed quite foolish really.

  2. check your e-mail vic/rob/whoever does it at screenrant :D

  3. @Bill

Seeing as Peter and Hiro have lost a substantial amount of power while sylar remains a comlete badass, the writers had to find some way of taking sylar out of play unitl the aforementioned “good guys” are fully repowered. I for one LOVE the nathan/sylar twist I think it will play out really well :)

Also, am I the only one who didnt hate volume 2? Adam remains one of my favourite characters and I loved that volume which was pretty much centred around Adam… the only negative criticism I had with it was the lack of Sylar and the two mexican twins.

Im excited for volume 5. when does it begin?

  4. Sorry, but last season left a very bad taste in my mouth, and with no Bryan Fuller,I just think that we’ll get the same ‘ol contrived mess of a show.

  5. Thanks to Jimmy, we’ve added a Youtube version for our non-U.S. readers. :)

  6. I love heroes!!!!!!!!!!! This should be good

  7. Ray Park is so bad-ass, he played Chuck Norris in a movie. :D

  8. Thanks Jimmy!

  9. I saw the full version of this clip they showed of this at SDCC (bootleg from a cell of course) and it starts to look better. A thing to keep in mind though it that NBC chopped their budget.

  10. no probs. glad to help. i’ll send you the bill later ;)

  11. I stuck with Heroes through the entire run so far, but marketing this season with the fact that Claire kisses her roommate (with the possibility they’ll make the character a lesbian depending on fan reaction) has completely turned me off the show. I enjoyed it, but I just hate that shows like this go into unnecessary directions just to attract more viewers.

  12. who cares if she’s kissing guys, girls, horses or meatball subs… i really dont see the distinction… we watch for the action and the drama, i dont think the audience will care who claire kisses…i do hope they kill her off soon though

  13. What I don’t understand is why they refuse to let the actual “heroes” unite. Season two ended with something of a promise that we might see just that, and then… NADA. That was a logical progression, and they totally ignored it. They need to let the characters just be who they are. Claire could be such an interesting character, but they keep holding her back. That’s the main problem I see with the show right now.

  14. I also thought Volume 2 was good, defintely not as good as the first volume but not bad by any means. Volume 3 was TERRIBLE and volume was not much better but at least it wa a step in the right direction. I dont think they will ever get the show back to the way the first 2 volumes were. To be honest I dont think that I am going to follow this season even though I am sure it will be better than the last but at this point I just dont care anymore.
One good thing coming is the the Silar/Nathan combo…very cool ending to last season, but we all know what what will happen….

  15. @ Bill Blume

    good call my friend,

I’d like to see them unite to and have always wanted that. I think for scheduling reasons, it’s easier for them to film small groups of character separately/at the same time and follow differetn intertwining story arcs. That and they want to avoid the X-Men team-up idea :(

I want to see the “Heroes” actually act “heroic”. When is this conspiracy/cure/everyone’s powered stuff gonna take a break. I want to see ppl with abilities occasionally save the day and be heroes for regular folk, something the show has seemingly abondoned.

  16. @Rob… that’s an interesting point about the scheduling issues. I’ve never really considered that, and I can see how that would make things a bit more difficult.

I just think it would be fascinating to see these characters follow in their parents’ footsteps. These characters are so intent on fixing what the previous generation did wrong, and yet doing that requires them to do so many of the same things. Power corrupted generation one, and I can see how easily the second generation could end up the same.

I have to echo one of the earlier comments about Adam. I was very disappointed to see him taken out in Season Three. That was a huge mistake, in my opinion. Still, I don’t suppose it’s impossible for him to come back. He is a super-healer, after all.

  17. I love Ray Park, and I’m also a fan of Heroes, but I’m not crazy about the effects here.

I get the whole ‘I’m moving slowly even though I have super-speed’ for effect and because he’s probably bored and sadistic, but to actually blur the characters makes it look a little fake, even though it’s sci-fi and a certain degree of ‘fakeness’ is in order.

Maybe if they just slowed it down like bullet-time or something.

But hey, Ray Park with Kukris, can’t complain too much.
