[UPDATE: We now have a version of the trailer viewable outside the U.S.]

If you were following our coverage of the 2009 San Diego Comic-Con then you probably caught my report on the Heroes panel, which featured cast and crew from the show coming out to promote the upcoming fifth volume/third season of the Heroes saga, titled (appropriately enough) “Redemption”.

Heroes indeed has a lot to redeem itself from (ridiculous story lines, shoddy scripts), and though last season’s “Fugitives” was a step in the right direction for many fans, it did not quite fully restore the show to its former greatness.

Will Heroes find “Redemption” this season? Check out the teaser trailer for the upcoming season and decided for yourself:

.

.

UPDATE: For our International audience, because you demanded it, here is another version of the Heroes: Redemption preview (VIEWABLE ANYWHERE)

.

Now this trailer contains a lot of the footage that was shown at Comic-Con – but not all of it. It looks like some of the more SPOILER moments (read my review of the panel to see which ones I’m talking about) have been stripped away and only a vague idea of overarching story is provided here. The footage at Comic-Con was much more in-depth.

If you didn’t catch it in the trailer, two big names joining the cast season are Robert Knepper (“T-Bag” from Prison Break) as “earth-mover”/carnival ringmaster, Samuel; as well as Ray Park (a.k.a. Darth Maul, Toad, Snake Eyes) as a super-speedster henchman with a penchant for knife-throwing. Both actors attended the Comic-Con panel and their roles look pretty interesting to say the least. Park in particular has an awesome super-speed knife-fight with Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) in an upcoming ep.

Oh, and in case you wondering: all the footage shown in this trailer (and subsequently at Comic-Con) all takes place in the first 3-4 episodes. That’s a lot of action crammed into a little bit of time.

Heroes: Redemption premieres on September 21, 2009 @ 9/8c on NBC.

  1. I’m not holding my breath until it comes out.

  2. I agree

  3. im holding my breath :)

  4. I must be some kind of idiot because that actually looked really good. What’s wrong with me? Why can’t I quit watching this stupid show?????

  5. Damn, it doesn’t play for us Canadians :(

  6. why does Hulu hate Canadians ?
what did we ever do to you ? :(
    :)

  7. Looks good. Fugitives was really well done and I hope they can keep up with those standards. Though sadly it looks like they are gonna drop the Nathan/Sylar thing way to fast. I was hoping to see that last awhile and slowly break away instead of rapidly.

  8. And here I thought Screen Rant was for people all over the world… and yet you pick on Australians and anybody not from the USA by putting up stuff that only Americans can watch…

  9. @Jimmy

You’re joking, right? It’s not our fault Hulu won’t show in other countries, plus Kofi and I are located in the U.S. so how would we KNOW it wouldn’t work in other countries when we can see it?

    Sheesh.

    Vic

  10. i’ll be there, most the rest of tv sucks anyways

  11. Hey guys I think it’s on NBC.com, not sure how they feel bout Canadians though lol

  12. @Vic
It’s not you. All over the net you’ll find posts with Hulu videos followed by lamentations from non-Americans who can’t watch them. It’s one of the laws of the internet.

  13. I think the only reason that trailer looks somewhat good is because of the background track.

  14. @Vic… How would you know Hulu doesn’t work for non-americans??? Well you guys have had non-americans telling you hundreds of times that it doesn’t work…

  15. @ Vic

Hulu vidoes can’t be seen anywhere else but in USA, so us European guys can’t watch it. Maybe in future you can avoid using Hulu so everybody on Screenrant can watch the video. Just a suggestion! Thanks.

  16. hey anyone have another link? it says anyone outside the US cant veiw it, so me being in london doesnt help that much.

  17. Hey Guys, If there was a video that DIDN’T have U.S. only restrictions then we would post it here at Screen Rant.

We are fully aware (and appreciative) of our International audience.

Problem is: right now only NBC seems to have the video so we can only post it through them. THEY don’t play to international audiences. Has nothing to do with us.

Instead of beating up on us, perhaps the international readers can provide a link to a LEGAL video source that plays internationally? Otherwise we have to go with what NBC/HULU gives us.

    Sorry.

  18. Seen the video and it looks pretty good, but then again so did last seasons preview for “Villains” and that turned out horribly.
Heroes has really dug itself a big hole over here and has introduced way too many unnecessary characters. It is stil salvageable but they will need to focus the story on 3-4 characters rather than 10-15. Peter, Hiro, Claire, and of course Silar are the popular ones and should be involved with every episode. I am glad to see that they have more action involved in the upcoming episodes and that Claire’s father MIGHT die. We need BIG and PERMANENT things to happen in the show so it can create a buzz and the show itself can find its own “REDEMPTION”, so to speak

If they revive Nathan Petreli again I WILL NOT WATCH THE SHOW

  19. What Kofi said.

When we can host videos or provide an embed that everyone can see we do. I’m not going to avoid posting a video if it’s the only one available and it’s only viewable in the U.S. So the suggestion is that if it can’t be seen outside the U.S. we shouldn’t post it at all so NONE of our readers will see it?

    Come on, now.

    Vic

  20. lol doing all your work for you :P

  21. one sec will e-mail you with the embed code…

  22. From Jimmy, for you out of towners:

    Vic

  23. Wow you guys get blamed for things not your fault. I think the Black Plague is Vics fault just so everyone knows.

  24. Nah! I think the Black Plague was Bruce’s fault. Vic should be blamed for WW2. :-)

  25. Sorry Kofi. For some reason I thought Bruce wrote this article. He isn’t to blame for the Black Death….you are. I’ll blame Bruce for Battlefield Earth. :-)

  26. No one deserves blame for Battlefield Earth.. That’s just goin to far.

  27. Season 1 was cool, Volumes 2 and 3 sucked so bad I didn’t even bother with Fugitives(I watched like the 1st 2 episodes and was done). I might give this one a chance, if worse comes to worse, at least we are gonna get some girl on girl action this season, that can’t hurt.

  28. Skyk1ng You are the exact reason why we get crappy convoluted stories that make no sense. “What did some one say to girls are gonna kiss ? ” Unzips pants “i’m watching this season.” It’s really sad that this is how pathetic our TV audiences have gotten. No wonder we can’t get good shows on TV often enough.

  29. @ Vic

Thanks for listening to us, it’s cool that you posted another video that can be seen in Europe. Cheers!

Regarding Heroes, I have a feeling this will be the last season. When Heroes first started, all my friends used to watch the show. But as the series progressed, it became confusing and repetitive, so a now i’m the only one that still watch it.
