NBC’s Heroes followed a group of ordinary people who come to find out they possess superhuman abilities. Although the first season propelled the series to fame among critics and fans alike, following seasons suffered from poor storytelling and an overall lack of quality. Despite its reception and cancellation in 2010, NBC has revived the heroic property for the 13-episode Heroes Reborn, which will debut this fall.
Tim Kring, creator of Heroes, returned to the project along with many fan-favorite characters, who will join plenty of newcomers in Heroes Reborn. Now, a recently released promo for the new series offers insight into the return to the world of Heroes. Plus NBC has announced their plans for San Diego Comic-Con – which includes Heroes Reborn.
The new promo (above) released by NBC posits the question “Where Are the Heroes?” and depicts a world that is seemingly in disarray due to its lack of saviors. Additionally, the network announced that they will be bringing the event series to Comic-Con for a Q&A panel featuring Kring along with stars Jack Coleman, Zachary Levi, Robbie Kay, Ryan Guzman, Gatlin Green, Henry Zebrowski, Judith Shekoni, Danika Yarosh and Rya Kihlstedt.
Fans unable to attend the panel, though, will be treated to other attractions at SDCC including a Heroes gallery full of photos and props from the original series that attendees can tour. Plus, there will be a 4-D interactive experience in which fans will be able to use pyro-kinetic abilities to escape a dangerous situation.
In addition to Heroes Reborn, NBC is bringing other fan-favorites to comic-con, along with some new serie. The network will premiere the pilot of Blindspot, starring Jaimie Alexander (Thor: The Dark World) and executive produced by Greg Berlanti (Arrow, The Flash). Additionally, panels for Blindspot, fellow new series The Player, the recently-cancelled Hannibal and Grimm will be held throughout the weekend.
Aside from its lengthy cast list, little is known about Heroes Reborn; according to the official synopsis, the main conflict will arise between the heroes and “those with nefarious motives to hunt and harness their powers.” Similarly vague, Levi spoke about his character Luke Collins and added hints toward the journeys each character will undergo during the course of Heroes Reborn.
That being said, SDCC will be a good opportunity for Kring, Levi, and the rest of the cast to elaborate on their characters or offer a better picture of what fans can expect from the limited series. Although the panel likely won’t answer the question posed by this newest promo, it will hopefully give viewers a better idea of – and hopefully gear up some added excitement for – Heroes Reborn before it debuts this fall.
The Heroes Reborn comic-con panel will be held in Hall H on Sunday, July 12th from 1:45-2:45PM.
The Player comic-con panel will be held in Room 6A on Thursday, July 9th from 11:15AM-12:15PM. The Blindspot pilot screening and panel will be held in Room 6A on Saturday, July 11th from 11:15AM-12:15PM. The Grimm comic-con panel will be held in Ballroom 20 on Saturday, July 11th from 3-3:45PM. The Hannibal comic-con panel will be held in Ballroom 20 on Saturday, July 11th from 5-5:45PM.
Heroes Reborn debuts Thursday, September 24th @8PM on NBC.
