Heroes was a superhero television series that ran from 2006-2010, well ahead of the current superhero pop culture craze in TV and film. Now, NBC is attempting to revive the show with a 13-episode event miniseries titled Heroes Reborn.

NBC has partnered with YouTube and Vine sensation and brand promoter Zach King to promote the two-hour Heroes Reborn premiere this upcoming Thursday (at the time of writing this). The result, as you can see above, is a 360 video of Zach and his pals displaying their super powers through the magic of special effects.

Here is an official description of the 360 Video from NBC, explaining how to watch it properly:

YouTube star Zach King proves that ordinary people can have extraordinary abilities with the debut of an innovative 360 video tied to the premiere of Heroes Reborn on NBC September 24th. This project was born out of an effort between Google and NBC to use 360 video technology and creative visual effects to deliver an immersive Heroes experience to digital audiences. Zach King – along with fellow creators Sam Wickert of SoKrispyMedia and Aaron Benitez of VFX Bro – conceived and produced this video featuring each YouTuber one-upping each other on their own hero-worthy abilities.

Experience the video in 360 today in the YouTube app on an Android or iOS device, where you can pan by simply moving your phone. You can also watch via a Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox or Opera browser, and then tapping and dragging to look around.

Heroes Reborn is going to explore a new set of characters that are just discovering their super powers, similar to the format of the first season of the original Heroes series. The show takes place one year after a terrorist attack in Odessa, Texas, where those with powers were blamed for the destruction of the city. Fans of Heroes will remember Odessa as the hometown of super powered cheerleader Claire Bennet (Hayden Panettiere). A prequel web series was also released to re-engage fans and bring them up to speed on the new timeline.

Fans of the original Heroes series need not worry; Heroes Reborn won’t focus only on the new cast. The Heroes Reborn miniseries will feature some returning fan favorite characters from Heroes as well, like Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka), Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy), Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg), The Haitian (Jimmy Jean-Louis), Angela Petrelli (Christine Rose), and Micah Sanders (Noah Gray-Cabey).  This group of seasoned super powered vets will partner with the newbies to once again save the world.
