I certainly hope the show get a fresh new look ... I wonder if even though there was a strike officially they couldn't be writing but I I was a witter on strike I would be tempted to keep writing secretly.... Maybe the first ones will be real good due to that fact the writers had more to to work on them... or the first few shows will be terrible having to be thrown together fast... I hope the Heroes seris writers worked secretly while on strike.

That's why Joey lasted 2 years--paying the star was more expensive than paying the cancellation fee.

Well...the only real reason I can imagine BACK TO YOU sticking around (for now) is because Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton are being paid so much $$$ for a certain number of episodes.

As crazy as it sounds, it'd cheaper for Fox to just continue on with the series instead of flat out killing it. Because either way, those two are going to be paid. Same thing happened with STUDIO 60 and JOEY on NBC.

As for TIL DEATH, sticking it right after AMERICAN IDOL last season really picked up the numbers. So Fox is hoping that those who stayed to watch earlier this year will do so when IDOL isn't around.

I hear Back To You is pricey as hell, and the stars hate each other. Ah, well...another expensive Fox sitcom with former major stars (Til Death, anyone? Anyone??)

Jamie,

Ah, the mathematics of the entertainment industry. :-)

You make an excellent point. That's a large part of what killed "Star Trek: Enterprise." Yes, it sucked for three seasons but things were turning around under the leadership of Manny Coto, but it was too little, too late especially with the high production costs.

I think you're right, Jamie. Ratings combined with fans and critics lambasting it is probably killing it. Or its hurting itself.

NBC won't keep HEROES around if their numbers continue to go down-hill like they are. Why? Because it's an expensive show to produce.

Even though it actually did better ratings than 30 ROCK and FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS last season, STUDIO 60 ON THE SUN-SET STRIP was cancelled because it was such a costly series to make. Their numbers had to be GREY'S ANATOMY/CSI big in order to stick around...and they weren't...by a long shot. Where ROCK and FNL were substantially cheaper to produce by comparison. This is what will ultimately happen to BIONIC WOMAN; expensive show with shitty ratings. It's toast; only a matter of if NBC will give it a full 22-episode order.

As for ORIGINS. I don't care what the trades are saying. If HEROES was doing good numbers, ORIGINS would have moving forward. I don't doubt that the WGA strike played a factor, but no way was that the number 1 reason to abort said spin-off.

It took a number of episodes to reveal the story; and since they say there will be a volume 2 and 3 this season (season 1 was a volume 1), I'd say they're WAYYY behind.

Also, speculation is running rampant the writers strike has one thing to do with it, but also how bad the show is doing with fans and critics. I'm going to see how ratings are.
