Heroes Cancelation Not The End; Series Still Alive

Published 5 years ago by , Updated June 27th, 2013 at 3:11 pm,

This week, when NBC announced their 2010/2011 primetime schedule, the news that every Heroes fan was dreading became reality – the series was canceled.

Considering the series has been on a decline since the second season, the announcement of Heroes cancelation was inevitable. Although, creator Tim Kring and NBC have both commented that while the series has technically been canceled, Heroes is NOT over.

On Monday, NBC executives confirmed that they will be talking to series creator Tim Kring after their upfront presentation about the possibility of a Heroes television movie. Yesterday, Tim Kring released a heartfelt statement not only thanking the 45 million fans around the world for watching, but also confirming that he is indeed close to finalizing a deal that would not only continue the series, but bring closure to superhero drama.

You can read Tim Kring’s statement below:

I want to first extend my deepest gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to the legion of enthusiastic fans who have watched ‘Heroes’ on TV, online,  DVR, DVD and mobile over the last four seasons. Every week more than 45 million TV viewers around the world, as well as millions of social and digital media-based fans, have made ‘Heroes’ one of the five most-watched shows across traditional and digital media screens in the history of television. For NBC, I certainly understand the challenge of creating a business model around a show which arrived precisely as the audience was finding new ways to watch traditional content on multiple screens. I personally have had 12 great years with my friends at NBC, and with ‘Heroes,’ they provided me a rare opportunity to put a message of hope, interconnectivity and global consciousness into the world.  For that I am grateful and look forward to finalizing our discussion about a number of ways to keep the ‘Heroes’ universe alive for its fans.

If Heroes is such an international phenomenon, with fans around the world wanting the series to continue, perhaps this would the perfect situation for a foreign network to step in and share the production costs of the show.

That way, NBC won’t have to foot the entire bill and will be able to be more lenient with its ratings expectations. Although, with NBC’s recently announced primetime line-up looking incredibly weak, Heroes, like Chuck, just might be what the network needs – guaranteed ratings.

What do you think about the possibility of Heroes returning? Would you watch a Heroes television movie?

  1. Watched all 4 seasons, loved the show, worse, I got hooked on it. Either a movie of season 5 would be in order for all those fans who watched so far and expected closure. I would definitely watch it and then watch it again!

  2. I too want more…

  3. I’m blowed that the series didn’t have an appropriate ending. I watched every episode every season. It would be nice to either have an episode with an ending or a movie that provides the ending.

  4. It was a awsome show and I loved it.i found this show by chance I showed it to my family and they loved it to I would love to see it on again

  5. This show was really interesting in the concepts it used. I don’t understand why it least that much viewers really…. I hope they do reconsider making something to close it.

  6. I hope this show comes back. I finally finished watching it on NETFLIX. Granted With season 4 episodes 2&3 missing. Please keep us posted!!!

  7. If people are still talking about heros now, 2 years after the last series, surely there’s still plenty of fans out there that still want to watch. Give us another series please!!

  8. i love heroes, I watched all the seasons while I was deployed to Afghanistan. The only thing I didn’t like was how they changed peter’s power. I know it added some balance and it was still an awesome show. I hope it comes back I’ll definitely watch it.

  9. Bring back HEROES Please!!!!! I love this show!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. They really need a season 5, there is way too much happening to just end it with a movie or one episode. I don’t really remember a lot, but what I do remember is that this series has a big story line that needs a good season 5 to actually end it with satisfaction. Please if this does have an ending please don’t rush it with 1 episode or movie!

  12. wait so is the 4th season definitly the last season or is there a chance that they will make more?

  13. plus they did say that it would be continued. and we havent met Barbra yet, you know, Tracy’s sister

    • Yeah, at the beginning of season 4, Tracy could now turn completely into water, and at first I assumed it was Barbra

  14. I watched every episode when they aired, and just rewatched all 4 seasons again. I still don’t understand whey they cancelled because this was way better than the shows on currently. Please bring it back!

  15. Really enjoyed watching all 4 seasons of Heroes. Wish they would bring it back, or at least a finale.

  19. I would loooove for heroes to come back! I completely got hooked on it in a short amount of time and finished the 4 seasons yesterday night! Realizing that was the last episode today, I was so disappointed!

  20. I’m going to finish heroes today and I hope it’s not disappointing

  21. omg!! HEroes is 1 of the best series EVER…. i cant stand the idea that some1 will try to cyt himself, hoping that he ll have instant regenaration nor jump from the eighth floor of a building , expecting to fly…. this series can make u see that u dont need to be an abnormal figure to do good in the world… u can act based on your own decisions… PLIZ LET THE SERIES LIVE ON!!!!!

  22. The people of South Africa need Heroes to continue!! We are begging. Find a way please, we really need Heroes. It just cant end this.

  24. I loved this show. Bring it back please. Im left hanging with the way it ended. One more season or yes maybe a t.v movie.

  25. I am so angry at NBC I have watched heroes multiple times now never gets old I still cry get mad and laugh at heroes and I NEED it to come back or at least make a wrap up

  26. I’ve borrowed every season off of my mate and I’ve sat and watched season 1, 2 and most of 3 and I and I am annoyed it’s actually taken me this long to get around to waching it! It’s so good and so many people want it back. Can’t wait to finish season 4, but if the ending is as painful as it seems, I’m guessing I’m going to hate it.

  27. They need to bring it back its really not fair to string the fans along like they have.
