Heroes Cancelation Not The End; Series Still Alive

Published 4 years ago by , Updated June 27th, 2013 at 3:11 pm,

This week, when NBC announced their 2010/2011 primetime schedule, the news that every Heroes fan was dreading became reality – the series was canceled.

Considering the series has been on a decline since the second season, the announcement of Heroes cancelation was inevitable. Although, creator Tim Kring and NBC have both commented that while the series has technically been canceled, Heroes is NOT over.

On Monday, NBC executives confirmed that they will be talking to series creator Tim Kring after their upfront presentation about the possibility of a Heroes television movie. Yesterday, Tim Kring released a heartfelt statement not only thanking the 45 million fans around the world for watching, but also confirming that he is indeed close to finalizing a deal that would not only continue the series, but bring closure to superhero drama.

You can read Tim Kring’s statement below:

I want to first extend my deepest gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to the legion of enthusiastic fans who have watched ‘Heroes’ on TV, online,  DVR, DVD and mobile over the last four seasons. Every week more than 45 million TV viewers around the world, as well as millions of social and digital media-based fans, have made ‘Heroes’ one of the five most-watched shows across traditional and digital media screens in the history of television. For NBC, I certainly understand the challenge of creating a business model around a show which arrived precisely as the audience was finding new ways to watch traditional content on multiple screens. I personally have had 12 great years with my friends at NBC, and with ‘Heroes,’ they provided me a rare opportunity to put a message of hope, interconnectivity and global consciousness into the world.  For that I am grateful and look forward to finalizing our discussion about a number of ways to keep the ‘Heroes’ universe alive for its fans.

If Heroes is such an international phenomenon, with fans around the world wanting the series to continue, perhaps this would the perfect situation for a foreign network to step in and share the production costs of the show.

That way, NBC won’t have to foot the entire bill and will be able to be more lenient with its ratings expectations. Although, with NBC’s recently announced primetime line-up looking incredibly weak, Heroes, like Chuck, just might be what the network needs – guaranteed ratings.

What do you think about the possibility of Heroes returning? Would you watch a Heroes television movie?

  1. I love that show and I wish it would come back on

  2. I just finished watching Heroes on netflix and I have to say, I’m a little disappointed. Not in the show, that’s amazing, but in the way it ended. All the episodes end with to be continued, so I imagine me and 45 million other people are still waiting for the continuation. And besides, if the problem last time was ratings bringing it back could get so many viewers because of all the garbage on tv. NBC is also canceling 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation, two really funny shows just to make more reality shows.

  3. Heroes is simply brilliant and beautiful! I see no reason as to why it was cancelled. It should definitely continue, at least for one more concluding season. I’m sure there are fans still waiting all around the world!

  4. okay so it clearly said `to be continued`starting to get impatient, pissed and confused as to why this show isn`t back on the f****** air

  5. A friend of mine introduced me this series…
I enjoyed watching so far… now I am on season 3… they warned me that i will be disappointed once i get to the last episode of season 4 because there’s no more episode afterwards…

I hope the makers of this series will give closure to the fans of heroes…

    plssssssssssssss……

  6. I LOVE THIS SHOW! With all the other crap on tv it was a relief when I found this on netflix. The story line was brilliant and with all the viewers I’m surprised they discontinued it. Im sooooo sad. I hope they make it into a movie to tie up the loose ends.

  7. I LOVE THIS SHOW! With all the other crap on tv it was a relief when I found this on Netflix. The story line was brilliant and with all the viewers I’m surprised they discontinued it. Im so sad. I hope they make it into a movie to tie up the loose ends.

  8. i just finished watching the best show i have ever watched in my whole life and i was so sad the way it ended because thats so messed up leaving it to be continued when its NOT ITS OVER!!!! Please finish what got started

  9. I think it’s time for Heros to come back. I’m sure if this series came back on air their would be more viewers than ever. What do we have to do to bring it back??

  10. One of the greatest, edge of seat sitting, shows that I’ve ever seen. I’m still waiting for closure. Via la revolution!

  11. Yes I would so watch heroes tv, movie whatever. I love the show and was so wanting to see season 5. The show was very addicting! I’m so upset it got cancelled. I am more upset about heroes being cancelled than I was about no ordinary family….
You would think 45 million people viewing it would be enough…..

  12. I just finished watching the last episode on netflix – My wife wanted to kill me because I was camped for 2 weeks in the living room into the wee hours of the night. Great series. Do some more – I’ll watch!

  13. Heros is the best tv show I have ever watched and i had recently found out there was ever a show lets just say I found it on Netflix last week and haven’t watched anything else until I just finished it if you put this show back on the air it will smash Any expectations that you may have bet you

  14. I just finished all 4 seasons of Heroes and they were really good! I was a little disappointed about the cliff hanger it left off on. I’d totally watch any other thing of Heroes rather it be a fifth season or movie! Bring it on!

  15. Dude, I dont care what they do, I just want them to bring it back. I’m so obsessed with the Heroe’s series, and I was so mad when it ended like it did. Why would anyone want an awesome TV series like Heroe’s canceled anyway? I mean, so many people LOVE Heroe’s, it just doesnt make sense. Anyway, I hope they do bring it back, because I seriously want to see more.

  16. Please Please bring back Heroes’ Is a great Program And we all love it in the UK. There are loads of show these days on TV that are a load of rubbish, Yet they are still shown so come on lets have it back.

    Robert.

  17. I totally agree, they can’t leave us behind with an end like this. It has to continue. I’m from Holland, Europe. And I know that many, many fans here are waiting for it to continue. Tim Kring, please let us know if there is any possibility it will!

  18. Anything that will give me closure! That series is one of the best and ending it with a cliffhanger will not do it justice. A movie, a season, I don’t care as long as there’s more.

  19. Heroes is by the far the most addicting show I have ever watched…EVER! Ugh! I nearly cried when I watched the very last episode of season 4… PLEASE..PLEASE….PPPLLEEEAAASSEEE BRING IT BACK!!! :’[ Im so sad.. Im obsessed with Heroes!! PLEASE BRING IT BACK!! Aaagghh!…

  20. I’m honestly begging for anything I know it’s been three years but this is the best show ever and I can’t get over it being cancelled

    • “I can’t get over it being cancelled” Same here! :’(

  21. HEROES! It needs to continue. I don’t understand why it had to end, you have dramas like Supernatural that is up to season 8. Heroes could have been too. You don’t have dramas like Heroes, it’s just too good. BRING IT BACK please.

  22. Heros rocks! Hey you social media experts…tell Kring we need closure!

  23. Please bring heroes back its 2012 and I miss that series. I honestly was thinking of taking it upon myseft to continue the series. Please contact me on my email if the series is comming back.

  24. Please need some help is there anyhope i love this series sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much

  25. I really enjoyed this series it was fun and exciting. Most things on tv bore me now days and I feel like I have connected with all the characters so well. I understand that this show coming back is a long shot but I’m sure if you aired a final 5th season many views everywhere would be ecstatic! Just from another dedicate fan I beg of you bring the show justice, and give it the ending it really deserves.

  26. 2012 Dec.15/12
I wached the fanaly of seasone 5 right now and i want same anseres I’m freking out inside did they make a movie or somting im going to find out

  27. 5th season, 10th season, a movie… It ‘will be’ watched, and bought, and rented, and bought some more! ;)

  28. I’m really disappointed at the fact they took this series off air. I’m sorry but if the creator no longer wants to continue the shoe then he just needs to let someone else take over, I mean don’t take me wrong its good you may want a movie but the series as a whole is better for television. Someone needs to step in and keep this show alive. So many viewers and fans, including myself, are upset this show isn’t running anymore. Please bring it back!

  29. This was such a creative series that always kept me on the edge of my seat and wanting more! I like many others am disappointed that it stopped where it did and there is no closure. Although it’s been a long time since it ended, I still hope there will be a new season or movie. I wish there were more shows like this on TV instead of so many reality shows.
