new dark knight joker poste HBOs Awesome TV Spot For The Dark Knight Premiere

Somebody up there at HBO had their clever-cap on when they came up with this:

HBO is premiering The Dark Knight on Saturday June 13th, and to hype the much-anticipated premiere they’ve come up with a VERY clever TV spot that mixes Dark Knight footage with a famous indie rock song, “Where Is My Mind?” by The Pixies. (If you don’t know the song by name, it’s the the one playing at the end of Fight Club.)

I can’t believe nobody advertised something like this last year when The Dark Knight was heading to theaters! It’s a perfect theme song for Heath Ledger’s Joker!

Check out the promo TV spot for HBO’s premiere of The Dark Knight.

As soon as I saw this ad I walked right over to my TV and set my DVR to record The Dark Knight. For people like me, who don’t own a Blu-ray player but own a HDTV and HBO HD subscription, this is the perfect way to stick it to those Blu-ray elitists who have been bragging about their copies of The Dark Knight since christmas. Take that!

This weekend, if you just want to enjoy a relaxing night on the couch and need something good to watch, The Dark Knight premieres on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 8 p.m. on HBO. After that it will be re-broadcast ad nauseam.

  1. i always thought HBO did a really good job with their tv spots

  2. This is why HBO is the best pay cable network out there. They know exactly what they are doing and sometimes even better than the movie studios.

  3. That was great! I am imagining someone let the editor at HBO have a lot of fun with that. Kudos to them!

  4. get a bluray player. HA.

  5. Dang it … too slow. It’s gone.

  6. Actually, that Pixie’s tune would be better suited for a Hangover commercial if you really think about it.

  7. It was ok..

  8. i liked this song while the naked guy ran though the mall in observe and report.

  9. in some qways actually better that the official trailers for it :D

  10. Sorry to say that the promo didn’t do much for me. It was all right at best. Of course, I’ve always been a bigger fan of score music versus rock ‘n roll.

  11. Personally I love how they made it look like Fight Club – very clever.

  12. i love Fight Club and the song ended the movie very well.
as for the advertisement it works and i shall enjoy the film this saturday, ill watch “begins” B4 8:00pm and enjoy them both.

  13. Too bad the movie is massively overrated and way too long. You have fun with that.

  14. Matt speaks the truth!
And to add, this is something more akin to what MTV does for their Movie Award shows when announcing nominees.

  15. I thought the move was great, but I definitely agree that it gets too much praise.

  16. i can’t think of many movies off the top of my head that lived up to the initial hype when it first came out. everyone complains how all these movies coming out are disappointing. this was one that did not disappoint. that’s why it gets so much praise.

  17. Does anyone know what is the song playing right now (July 2009) during HBO Summer 2009 previews (including the Dark Knight and at the end, the Joker claps his hands in sync with the song)?

  18. @FrankM,

    Do you have a link?
