All of the explosions, sets and special effects can’t camouflage this film for what it appears to be; a glorified melodrama. If you like realism, this looks like a disappointment.

That was called “morale bombing.” And they did it to Germany too, so unless they showed it in Band of Brothers, they probably wouldn’t show it in this. Not to mention, I don’t think either show will focus much on air campaigns, more character stories of those on the ground. And you can’t actually accurately depict Japanese troops in WWII without chronicling their atrocities, same as with the Nazi’s.

I’ve been following this for a while and have always wanted Spielburg and Hanks to tackle a Pacific Theatre WW2 story. I remember loving all the Band of Brothers back when they first came out along with Saving Private Ryan which is still one of my all time favorites. I also love Spielburg and Hanks’ style with the washed out colors and crucial character development. Its funny to see the kid from Jurrasic Park all grown up but I guess Spielburg still has faith in him! Def looking forward to this one.

Just so long as they show the fire bombing of Tokyo etc. Not so hands on but it the bombings killed more people than the Atomic bomb ever did.

I hope they don’t glorify the Japanese and that they clearly show the atrocities that they committed in WWII… There needs to be an episode that shows an entire village of unarmed Chinese, Filipino, or whatever, civilians slaughtered with their heads cut off so people will finally know what the Japanese really did in the Pacific front…
