A new batch of photos for season 7 of Game of Thrones teases the coming storm, new alliances, and the return of Beric Dondarrion. While anticipation for the newest season of Game of Thrones is always high, the hit HBO series has been building even more tension than usual with the delayed release of this newest season. While the spring usually supplies fans with the latest batch of episodes, the release of season 7's abridged collection is still a month away. Luckily, HBO has been slowly teasing out new developments to keep audiences excited.

A few weeks back, the first trailer for the new season finally debuted. Packed full of characters and action, it teased a number of new directions the story could go in when it returns to TV. Even more exciting is the season being the penultimate one for the show. And while this is bittersweet, it also means everything will start coming to a head, with characters reuniting and plenty of battles being fought. Part of that excitement will also come in the form of new character interactions, and the return to some version of the pairings we saw back in season 1.

HBO (via EW) has released a new set of images for the upcoming season teasing the coalescence of a number of storylines and characters in the North. Included in the shots are Jon, Davos, Arya, and Tormund, along with the return of Beric Dondarrion. Check out all of the images in the gallery below:

Beric, looking worse for wear, is the leader of the Brotherhood Without Banners and has been brought back to life many times. He'll also be bringing some expertise to the North when it comes to using the power of the Lord of Light. Davos too will be providing Jon and Sansa with some sage council. As for Tormund's, wisdom is hardly in his wheelhouse. Then there's Arya in a behind-the-scenes shot, possibly teasing her return to Winterfell.

Also included in the collection are a few shots of Daenerys, accompanied by Tyrion and Grey Worm on Dragonstone in one image. We also see some new looks at Cersei and Jaime, who will be dealing with the violent end of their daughter Myrcella faced. The images also provide a better look at all the new costumes that will be on display in the new season, something we recently saw highlighted in a behind-the-scenes featurette.

There have been rumors lately that the final season of the show will skip a year and come in 2019. If that proves to be the case, season 7 may be the last time we see many of these characters for awhile. Hopefully, it will be worth the wait.

Game of Thrones returns to HBO on July 16.
