Lost favorite Terry O'Quinn will be heading to familiar territory when he joins Hawaii Five-0 later this year: not only will he be returning to Lost's filming locale, he'll be reuniting with fellow cast-mate, Daniel Dae Kim.

O'Quinn will be playing a Navy Lt. Commander and Vietnam veteran who trained Lt. McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin) in Colorado. O'Quinn's character may have information on the murderer of McGarrett's father, who served with him on his tour of duty. The father, not the murderer.

It's not known how many episodes will feature O'Quinn, though the role is currently set as "recurring". The veteran actor was cast in Mark Cherry's latest pilot, Hallelujah, but the project wasn't picked up for a series. O'Quinn's only role since the 2010 closure of Lost was the Lifetime movie Taken From Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story in January.

Terry O'Quinn played the mysterious and morally dubious John Locke for all six seasons of Lost. The character's secretive plotting and unpredictable behavior made him a quick favorite of fans. His performance in the second season earned him an Emmy award for Best Supporting Actor. Daniel Dae Kim, who plays Detective Chin Ho Kelly on Hawaii Five-0, was also a Lost star for its entire run.

Hawaii Five-O has been a surprise hit in its freshman season on CBS. With an average of 12 million viewers an episode, the remake of the cop show classic is one of the most-watched dramas on television, and according to Screen Rant's Kevin Yeoman, it's pretty okay (which is more than can be said for some higher-rated shows). The second season was ordered last month and should premiere in the fall.

O'Quinn is one of the additional actors alluded to by executive producer Peter Lenkov, who is a former Lost crew member himself.  With Season 1's cliffhanger ending and the scant info available upon O'Quinn's casting, observant readers will be able to deduce that a certain police officer won't stay shackled for long.
