The Haunting of Hill House actor Kate Siegel is now confirmed to appear in the horror series' second season, The Haunting of Bly Manor. She joins her Hill House costars Victoria Pedretti, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, and Henry Thomas as confirmed cast members for the Bly Manor season. All four of them will be playing different characters from the ones they brought to life in the show's first installment.

A re-imagining of Shirley Jackson's beloved 1959 gothic horror novel of the same name, The Haunting of Hill House premiered on Netflix in October 2018. It went on to earn praise for its strong performances, slick craftsmanship, and rich storytelling (which explores grief, loss, trauma, and addiction through the lens of supernatural horror), and attracted enough viewers to land a renewal. However, rather than continuing the Hill House story, the show is becoming an anthology and will adapt Henry James' classic 1898 horror novella, The Turn of the Screw, in its second season.

Bly Manor, which gets its name from The Turn of the Screw's primary setting, will star Pedretti as Dani, a young governess who's hired to care for a pair of unusual children in a potentially haunted house. Jackson-Cohen will costar as Peter (who's simply described as a "charming" fellow), while Thomas and Siegel's roles have yet to be revealed. The Haunting of Hill House showrunner Mike Flanagan, who's married to Siegel, confirmed her involvement with Bly Manor on his Twitter account.

Kate Siegel in The Haunting of Hill House

It's not clear yet if The Haunting of Bly Manor will be a period horror drama (perhaps set around the same time as James' source material) or re-imagine The Turn of the Screw in a modern setting, similar to what Hill House did with Jackson's book. Flanagan has worked on historical horror projects before (his prequel, Ouija: Origin of Evil, takes place in the '60s), but for the most part his previous films and TV shows have been contemporary. He is known for telling stories that transition back and forth between different decades like Hill House did, though, so Bly Manor could follow suit in that regard.

Flanagan and Siegel have an impressive track record of collaborations that includes the acclaimed horror films Oculus, Ouija: Origin of Evil, Hush (which Siegel co-wrote, in addition to starring in), and Gerald's Game, so her return for the next round of Haunting was expected, but comes as welcome news all the same. The filmmaker revealed on Twitter that he has another Bly Manor casting announcement to make this week, so there's a very good chance one of the remaining Hill House leads unconfirmed for the new season (like Michiel Huisman, Elizabeth Reaser, and Carla Gugino) will be unveiled soon. Might as well get as much of the band back together as possible, yes?
