I never liked Lord of the Rings but that doesn't mean I will go out of my way to put it down and if you are so simple minded to call harry potter overated then don't watch it or call it stupid. There are a lot of fans who don't want to hear people who have never picked up the book complain about it.

It kind of looks like "Star Wars" prequel meets "X-3." My niece was big into this series. I'll have to get her take on it.

Just a note about the "5th grade reading level" the books really mature later in the series. Trust me they are not a 5th grade reading lvel by the end of the series. The movies aren't nearly as good as the books progressively as the series gets closer to the end and I honestly think this has a lot to do with the length of the books. The books become so much longer and complex that it becomes difficult to cram all of the information onto a 90 minute script. The movies are ok and my kids love them but as far as being as good they fall short.

Vic, I am new to this page, but I couldn't help to send a tell. I am a fan of HP and had read all the books. Yes like some one say the book progress as years pass. Year 6 and 7 for me are the base of the entire novel (not to spoil) but it where they tell the Hx of Lord Vold. and how he became... (Splitting his soul in 7 peaces). For me this 2 book are a little strong for children and yes Harry get to do allot of action now and wizard fighting specially on book 7 that the entire book it Harry as a fugitive. For those who read know that on 7 there are a lot of drama, Hate and death specially (Spoil alert) Harry friends (Red hair, Wolf like, elf, Draco friend). I encourage you Vic to read book 6 and 7 and you know what I am saying you will be hook on the novel as well. Take care…

I'm not a huge fan of the movies, and I don't call myself a film buff, but I understand what makes a movie SEEM childish and what is actually a childish film. If you cannot grasp that concept that is your own fault, though it really isn't that difficult. If it has bunnies and cute little colors, I could see why you would think it is a childish movie, but these most recent Harry Potter movies have many grown-up aspects. The characters are all older, the film has become darker and grittier, people are dying and suffering, there is just too much going on for a young child to understand. The first movies were based on only a few objects throughout the whole movie. Pushing the limit and the universe alike prove these films are maturing.

This trailer is definately well done,

but the themes, dialogue and most importantly the screenplay (for the movies) are very childish to me. Again this is just in my opinion. And just so you know, I don't pay to see them in theatre, I have seen them all on DVD so far and read the last book :) When its all said in done to see them all once each in theatre you will have paid $80

To me, I just can't stand the idea of each book/movie having a new random magical item/spell which is conveniently the key for that particular story/event. It's just a little to over-the-top for me, and with all the magic, especially the time travel stuff none of the bad stuff that makes these plots should happen. I don't like how the stories don't follow the rules of its own universe (if that makes sense) its kinda like unlimited fantasy with random limits that occur...that shouldn't.

If what you're saying about the book progression is true that's a very interesting model that I don't think has been done before.

I think her reasoning for making each book more and more mature is that the people who where young when the first books came out are growing up now and are more mature and in turn want to read something they think is not for little kiddies.

I grew up reading the series, from the first one, and it's definitely true, each book has become progressively more mature, and the movies seem to have that same leaning.

Yeah, I'm not sure why people are tossing around terms like "childish", the books were originally written for children - but she has elevated the writing to keep up with the aging of her audience. The films have reflected that as well.

Hey guys,

Yeah, I've only read the first one so you're right, I can't speak to the reading level of the others in the series. If they do in fact "mature" that's unusual as usually a writer's style is the same from book to book.

And for the record, I never said the MOVIES were childish - quite the opposite in fact.

I think everyone should stop talking about how childish it is. If you think the movies are "too childish" don't pay to see them, or don't read the books. This movie looks more like LotR than the other ones did. Awesome!
