Prepare to get goosebumps – Warner Bros. has just unveiled the first trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. After being teased with snippets of footage and a dramatic teaser poster, fans can now get their first good look at the action-packed conclusion to the Harry Potter saga.

Producers David Barron and David Heyman spoke earlier this month about their decision to split the seventh and final Harry Potter novel into two films. They revealed that there were several plot threads and tangents that they may have been forced to gloss over had they attempted to cram everything into one movie. As a result, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 was a more introspective and somber chapter that laid the groundwork for the explosive finale.

And explosive is certainly the right word for this trailer. There are moments from the book I couldn’t wait to see realized on screen and there is quite a bit of jaw-dropping imagery on display here. There’s also a weight and a gravity to these proceedings that wouldn’t exist without the momentum of the previous films. Audiences have been following these characters on film for the better part of a decade and there’s something satisfying and bittersweet about watching them reach the end of their journey.

So here it is – the first trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2:

See? Goosebumps. The voice over from Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) is suitably unnerving and does an incredible job of underscoring the devastation we’re witnessing. As far as I’m concerned, this trailer accomplishes exactly what it needed to – it sends the message that all bets are off and that the stakes have never been higher.

I know we label everything as “epic” these days, but is there a better term to describe some of these set-pieces? I know it’s only a couple minutes of footage, but it looks to me like the film is sticking fairly closely to the second half of the book – and that fans anxious to see how the filmmakers handled the Battle of Hogwarts won’t feel the least bit short-changed.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 hits theaters on July 15.

  6. Epic as always. Only this time a tad bit more ;)

Ive seen it no less than 20 times this is gonna be the best Harry Potter movie ever. The grand finale is amongst us. Im not ready!

    • wonder if there will be an oscar nods for this pic in best picture.

      • I really hope so!

  7. OMG!! OMG!! OMG!! This is all I can think!!! OMG!!

  8. wtf was that part when they jump off a jump, that doesnt happen!

    • SPOILERS (?)

The jump was added in the movie to show how Harry no longer fears death and to prove that Voldermort is a coward by having him dissaparate before he hits the ground but Harry survives the fall, showing him as the master of death or something like that. I read it in an EW article about the changes they made in the battle scene like how Harry and Voldy will be apparating all over Hogwarts instead of battling in just one location. Their battle is supposed to last 15 minutes

      • How does Harry survive? Does he dissaparate too?

        • Voldemort apparates and Harrys holding Voldemort so they both apparate somewhere else.

  9. While this trailer is epic (in every meaning of the word) I could not help but feel hollow (no pun intended) that the movies are soon going to be ready. A piece of my childhood is locked in with these movies. I am not ready to let go of that piece yet.

    • Soon going to be over*

    • How does Harry survive?

    • Sorry wrong person :p

  10. omg omg omg omg holy crap that was amazing@@@@!! ive red the book 3 times cant wait till this comes out@@aaA watched the trailer on youtube 5 times already lol this is to epic !@@@

  11. One change of pants, please!

  12. I’m 28 and it makes me anxious to see it.

  13. This trailer is pretty impressive. Can’t wait to see the movie!

  14. So, it’s another half movie…LAME!!

Just kidding…It looks incredible. I can’t wait to see it. I think Molly’s fight is what I’m looking forward to the most. I’m glad it’s in there…

  15. That looks awesome. To bad it’s all coming to an end.

  16. seriouisly gives me the chills but the only thing thats aggarvating is that the whole entire point of the series and the final battle is that harry cant hold up to voldemort in a duel. not for 15 minutes. he cant apparate the way voldermort can. thats the beauty of how the book ended. harrys defiant in using the dissarming curse till the end. nothing else. its a silent message but prob the most important one of all. he does not kill, thats voldemorts job. what spells are they gonna have him firing off at voldemort the whole third act of the movie. well see.

  17. I came out of part 1 saying to the wife that I couldnt see why they couldnt have done the whole book in one (long) film, kind of like Lord of the Rings.

After seeing this trailer I’m so glad they have done it in 2 parts, cant wait for this now.

    Accio July !!

  18. Just EPIC, and btw the effects are pretty amazing.

  19. Very nice. Can’t wait.

  20. wow , actually had goosebumbs lol

  21. Can’t wait to see Neville in action! Go, Neville!

    • Spoilers…

      .

      .

      .

Neville blows up that bridge. :)

      • Ricky,

Tell me your thoughts on the Voldy/Harry plunge off the tower.

        • Benji,

I imagined that part to be a bit better because I imagined it would be from the astronomy tower. Theres just too many confrontations between Harry and Voldemort IMO, I mean it is said that no ones there to witness the duel in the end and i always thought Voldemort would want everyone to see him kill Harry so why not kill him when hes got the chance? I love all these confrontations though lol it means more Harry vs Voldemort which is always good. And MORE Ralph haha… I thought it looked a bit fake but its still really good. Love that he calls him Tom. Shows that he doesnt fear The Dark Lord and death…

Overall im good with the additions of Harry vs Voldemort. IMo the more the better though i really hope there are people witnessing the final duel.
          :)

  22. I watched it twice and I can’t wait. When Harry calls him Tom right before he pulls them both over the edge is what produced the goose bumps for me. It shows that while the rest of the world may fear him because he is the dark lord and represents all that is evil, Harry knows that deep down he is just the same as anyone else.
The only reason I worry about how this last battle will play out is because I was so let down the last time we were supposed to see the greatest of all time. Anakin & Obi Wan at the end of Revenge of thr Sith. In the previews it looked amazing but what we saw at the theaters wasn’t so great…

    • And before this slips my mind. How great has Ralph Fiennes been as Voldemort? He should really go down as one of the greatest movie villians ever.

      • Kevin he has done wonderfully. The test screeners said this one has like an hour or so of Voldemort….

        • That’s fantastic. Even though I have read all the books and seen the films I haven’t seen one at the cinema since Azkaban. That streak ends here. The battle for Hogwarts in 3D is a must see….

      • He most certainly is. There’s a lot of ways that this could have been really hokey in film form. But it’s been done really smoothly and Voldemort as a character has definitely been done justice.

  23. for sure many of us wil miss the ” Harry potter series”.. and all i can say is.. i can’t wait to see the final movie (even though it’s final! :( ..).
All the cast had a great work.

  24. i think i agree with Rickster Thunder! HARRY POTTER deserves an award. not just because of it’s blockmonster. i mean blockbuster records. But because it gives the audience an epic feeling… that can never be forgotten!
    hehe.. :)

    • haha yes jasmin if it doesnt get atleast one award i will be pissed.

  25. Harry lives, Voldemort dies and Snape is good. Have fun :D

    • Oh yeah… spoiler alert.

      • Dude….

    • …. Dude?…. I think you meant Douche rickster

      • yeah what a douche.

  26. This should be the best one, emotionally and action-wise.

  27. That is how you make a trailer!

  28. book Harry was a wuss but movie harry looks badass and you re right there is no other word for this EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  29. I def just got goosebumps… I’ve been waiting for this movie for years now. I actually thought it was coming out this Christmas so its a huge relief to see it coming out this summer. It will be a perfect conclusion to the series and it will go well with part 1 since its bound to be action packed.
