In preparation for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – the final installment in the most successful film franchise of all time – Warner Bros. has released seven new promo images. Most of the images give us a good look at some of the new characters that will be joining the series before it takes its final bow next summer.
I’ve been a fan of the Harry Potter film franchise so far and I’m very much looking forward to seeing the conclusion of this epic story. I’ve only read the first two Potter books and am in the dark as to how it all ends, so I can enjoy the ride on the big-screen. And from the looks of all the promo stuff it’s going to be one hell of a ride.
We recently got a couple of insights into Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows via info of where the last film will be split, as well as an early fan review of Part 1. But if you’re after less spoilerish promo stuff, then check out these latest images which focus on specific characters:
-
Characters in order (left right, left right): Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe), Rufus Scrimgeour (Bill Nighy), Albert Runcorn (David O’Hara), Gregorovitch (Rade Šerbedžija), Bathilda Bagshot (Hazel Douglas), and Xenophilius Lovegood (played by Rhys Ifans).
With the exception of the third movie, Prisoner of Azkaban (a standalone great), each of the Harry Potter flicks have improved on the previous ones. The last one, Half-Blood Prince, was probably the technical best of the installments so far as it presented the most mature and rewarding film of the series up until this point (not to mention having the most jaw-dropping special effects).
I have a feeling with Deathly Hallows Part 1 & 2 the story will go out with a bang, specifically as we get to witness the much awaited final face-off between Harry and Lord Voldemort (whoops, I forgot we are not supposed to say his name).
Be prepared for these last two Potter movies to make some serious cash at the box office. This November, Part 1 kicks off the final stage of the franchise, but I’m predicting Part 2 next July will break some serious records. At this point it’s pretty inevitable, right?
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 hits theaters on November 19th, 2010. Part 2 follows next summer on July 15th, 2011.

Wow this is old news for me LOL! ive seen these like 2 weeks ago. But great that You put them up i LOVE them!
And you are 100% correct ROSS MILLER,part 2 will definitely break many records,I for one am going as ,many times human possible. Oh and dont worry non readers,theres alot of new characters but theyll explain them thoroughly. I CANT WAIT!
I, as a reader of the books, think it’s really good to see that non-readers actually enjoy and understand the film series. The films, more often than not, get bashed by loads of book purists and it just goes to show that the film series is understandable and is good in its own right. Well done to the people who make these films! Great job! =)
@ME
I 100% agree,these movies are so great,they can stand without the books,thats something other adaptations cant achieve…..But to me POA is the best so far….
To me “Half-Blood Prince” is the best, with “Goblet of Fire” in second.
Yeah these have been out for a while, but it’s nice to hear someone’s opinion on the franchise with this. Xenophilius really doesn’t look like how I imagined him, but it fits with Luna’s character in the films so I can live with that.
Ricky you changed your screen name!
@Matt K
Heres my order: POA,HBP,GOF,OOTP,SS,COS part 3,6,4,5,1,2

MATT K
OMGGGG!!!!! Are u serious?? Go see part 3 man what are u waiting for?!?!? Its the best one!
Am I the only person who thought HBP was terrible???
No. I loved it, but you’re not the only one who didn’t. It didn’t get as good reviews as the rest. They could have and should have added a lot more, but I still enjoyed it. My favorite in order goes GOF, OOTP, HBP, POA, COS, and SS. Their all awsome though…I saw all of them opening night!
Ive never been o a midnight release im hoping i go for HP
@JOSE
Hey the Deathly Hallows part 1 trailer is out around september 20th,im 100% sure itll be the legend of the guardians,so before the 24th its safe to say we have it online
I like the first one the best followed by order of the phoenix.
@Dr sam Beckett
I wasnt fond of HBP till i saw it many times an discovered it was a really good film,i wasnt fond because it was way diffrnet from the book. Now i accept it for what it is: an adaptation.
@kantstandya
My bro likes the first one too,i think its really really good,but now that im older i like the darkness of them….theres alot of blood in Deathly Hallows Just shows how dark its getting….
No Dr. Sam. These movies are garbage. Even the scenes that look really good are just replacing something that would have not only looked better but would have stuck with the story. Half Blood Prince or as I like to call it, the Real World Hogwarts, was the second worst out of the the series only topped by Prisoner of Azkaban. I really wish that Chris Columbus would have stayed with these movies and I think they would have been awesome. The first 2 were awesome.
I am a fan of the books and that does make my views one sided but the fact remains that they cut out good stuff to put in garbage that makes no sense. Such as the Real World Hogwarts. They blew up the burrow and that scene replaced the final fight at Hogwarts. 6 Deatheaters were running around the castle, killing people and blowing stuff up and not one person tried to stop them. That is a slap in the face to all the Hogwarts teachers. Here is also some food for thought. Harry is being hunted all over England and he is only safe sticking around the Dursleys. Why the hell was found train hopping in London? Cause you know there are no witches or wizards in London. Don’t even get me started on Michael Gambon. When did Big Gay Al become the headmaster at Hogwarts? Damn you Ministry of Magic!!!!
So far from what I have heard from people that actually liked the books, these next two movies are going to be the best of the series. I am calling BS on that right now. They have fooled me for the last 4 movies. All have looked awesome but are total garbage.
@GreaterTater
What works well in a book (or on the pages) doesn’t always transition well and vice versa. With the written work thh reader is allowed to invoke their image of what the writer is trying to convey. When a popular book is made into a film you are getting the interpretation of that book as seen by the screen writer, the director and many others involved. If you ever see a movie based on a book in which you have read the book before seein the film and the film version does fit (perfectly) what you believed it should be then you have found a rare treat for we as humans do NOT think alike.
As for plot hols in the movie, when transitioning a film to the screen in whcih you have to make changes (because something that works in the book doesn;t work on the big screen) and do it within a budgte and a defined time frame (keep in mind there really isn’t a defined time limit for the writtien story) there are going to be possible plot holes. What sepeartes the good directors and their staff from the rest is how well they minimize these in the final release.
Dumbledore was gay…so it makes sense.
I am fully aware that you will have to change some things to make a good movie. So what happened? Cause so far the only good ones have been the first 2. Oh yeah, they stuck pretty close to the books and had a director that was interested in more than just eye candy and pretty sparks from everybody’s wand. I understand that most books are better than the movies, Stephen King is living proof of that, but the fact remains that the essence of this book has been destroyed to make it pretty. You were saying that what works on paper doesn’t always work on film. Duh. Some things from that book would have looked stupid as far as spells go but for the most part. The critical scenes, especially the ones I mentioned before, were done solely as eye candy and to put in plot ideas that were as shallow as Jersey Shore. You guys can harp and say that I am a Purist but that last movie will forever be known as the Real World Hogwarts in my mind. These movies have been rushed and changed leaving them with gaping plot holes that are solely created for the purposes of make not just a lot of money but a metric F’n ton of money. So far they have gotten a lot of my money because being a PURIST I am going to go see them if they suck or not. I also own all but the Real World Hogwarts just because I am a fan. That one I refuse to buy just on general principal of being the dumbest piece of garbage they have peddled yet. But then again I own Batman and Robin too and that one is total garbage so anything is possible when you find it for 2 dollars used.
I can’t understand why you would keep going to see the movie if you hate them so much. You’re seriously just supporting a system you don’t like. Like a republican who votes democrat or vice versa.
I mean, I get it, you want to be proven wrong, I felt the same way about the Last Airbender. Loved the series, but I will not be going to see any more if they are made by M. Night. Shymalan
@GreaterTater
” You guys can harp and say that I am a Purist but that last movie will forever be known as the Real World Hogwarts in my mind.”
You just verified my point about the written story being personalized by the reader and therefore impossible to transition to the big screen and not make some unhappy.
BTW “Duh” is what prepubescent teens and surfer dudes say when they have no idea what to say that makes sense. I don’t know how old you are but avoid “Duh” if you want to be taken seriously.
my order
HBP
OOTP
COS
SS/PS (depending on country)
POA
GOF

Ok saying that these films are garbage is so effing retarded. How the hell do you expect them to put everything thats in the book on the film? I see u are a purist. These changes were necessary,theyre saving the battle for part 2,now come on who doesnt wanna see that? Thats why in HBP the Death eaters do nothing. The burrow attack couldve been better yes,but it was still good,and necessary to show that the no ones safe. Harry in a cafe was there so they can show his “hormones” were kicking in. He was waiting for Dumbledore. Now Deathly Hallows will be the best im sure,trust me if u want too close to the book movies then Deathly hallows is that movie…..Trust me,i know all about Deathly Hallows it is fairly similar to the book.
The point that I am making is that they are trading made up scenes that make no sense for the ones that actually went with the plot. He wasn’t waiting for Dumbledore. He just showed up. Harry was surprised to see him. This book had enough hormones in it to deal with anyway. Why add more?
The Burrow part was just random garbage. There was other better ways of showing that no one is safe. As far as them destroying the last scenes of the movie by having no fight scene. That was just retarded. You can try to justify it as much as you want but the fact remains that they are like the Mrs. Universe Pageant, They look good but don’t have the brains to fill a thimble.
I really do hope that Deathly Hallows is really good. Cause like I said the last 4 are Garbage.
Love these pictures! I personally think Daniel looks very, very handsom. I can’t wait for this movie! IMAX 3D! Daniel is very cute, and he has matured so much since the Ordder of the Phoenix. Love you Daniel!
My favorite of the Potter films is the Order of the Phoenix and the Goblet of Fire in second. I know the Deathly Hallows is going to be my #1 favorite though.
I can’t lie, the fact that Boris the Blade is playing Gregorovitch makes me really excited, even if he’s not really in the movie all that much.
These movies are gonna be the best movies EVER,im NOT exagerating
Rickster you certainly seem excited,lol. Not that I disagree, though, its just funny.
darklydreamingbernie
You have NO idea how excited iam i swear,i dream about this movie,i dont care if it sounds funny,im gonna see it sooo many times,Its not even funny. I search news about it every day. I dont think anyones as excited as iam to see a film,i guarantee it…
IDK….i was pretty hyped for Kick-Ass, lol.
Seriously tho, I am definitely right there with you. Im gonna have a blast.
Greatertater
Do u see the last 4 regularly??? Dude i was upset too but i accepted that these are adaptations,that they change things for a reason. Deathly Hallows will be the best just you watch. There will be no big changes,trust me,i know whats in and whats out. its similar to the book,maybe too similar but thats not a bad thing because this is my fave book. And dont call the last 4 garbage they are NOT.
I truly hope you are right. But the last 4 are garbage. I thought that if I watched them a couple of times they would grow on me and I would like them. Nope. They still suck. The only one that is even worthy of being called a decent movie was the Goblet of Fire. That one was pretty well done. I could live with a lot of the changes but then some were just annoying. Such as tying Mad Eye to Crouch by him licking his lips. No house elves was annoying too. But that one also had the biggest slap in the face of the entire series by cutting out the Dursleys and the Ton Tongue Toffee. Not only was that the funniest part of any of the books but it showed how much the Wizards have no clue about the muggles. That is what I am talking about when it comes to destroying the essence of the books. J.K. Rowling made a incredibly wonderful world right next door to our own but it was completely different. That is something the movies have not even touched on. Harry is supposed to wear 2nd hand clothes that are entirely too big for him but all the characters look like they all shop at the Gap. Even though most wizards don’t have a clue how muggles dress. (That was also expressed wonderfully in the Goblet of Fire the book of course.) Nope they skipped the best parts to show the Quiddich World Cup that they didn’t even show. They pumped all their money into making the Hungarian Horntail fly all over half the country. Granted the Dragon was awesome and done very well. That is what I am talking about though, sacrificing the great parts of the books to make up stuff as eye candy.
I am in no way shape or form trying to dissuade any body on here to change your views and admit they suck, but I will not be turned either. I say their garbage, you say they are good. I really do hope the next one is awesome and I will be their just like always with an open mind.
I see what you mean and i know i wont change your mind,but im 100% sure Deathly hallows will be your favorite(as will mine) Just you wait. There are some things i wouldve loved to see in he film that were in the book but oh well,what can we do? I accept it as it is,they are still very entertaining are they not???
darklydreamingbernie
Thats good to know man
GreaterTater
In my eyes u are no true fan. How can u not have HBP if u are a fan? Seriously???? Anyways im sure youll love Deathly hallows,watch i guarantee it….
BTW Dumbledore was gay to JKR the author,she never mentioned his sexuality in the books,to me he is not,i never saw him like that….
Well, kinda becomes asexual as soon as you get that old, doesn’t he? The way I see it, I go with the author. I mean, he likes knitting. And he has an absolutely fabulous flair for fashion….so it fits.
(side note….I don’t actually talk like that)
Okay, I made a mistake. I would love it if he would have acted like Big Gay Al rather than the way he acts though this series. He has a serious anger problem. Like when he man handles Harry in GOF asking him if he put his name in the Goblet. Gambon has destroyed that character and he has no clue about him. He has admitted that he has never read the books. He is playing the character the way he thinks it should be played, not the way it was intended to be played. He shows many qualities that Dumbledore frowned upon. In the books he only lost his temper a couple of times and they were no where near as bad as the way Gambon played him.
Alan Rickman also said that had never read the books but I read the books before the movies came out and there is nobody in this world that could have played that part better. He was always who I pictured, even before he was cast. I kept thinking of him in Robin Hood and the Sheriff of Nottingham.
Michael Gambon is good as Dumbledore,he was perfect in HBP. Alan Rickman has always been Perfect though i totally agree with u on that one
Really in truly there are only a few characters they have cast that I was not over all impressed with.
1. Dumbledore for the before mentioned reasons.
2. Slugghorn was down right awful. I didn’t like the way he played the part and I don’t think he looked anything like him.
3. Mad-eye could have been better. I am not saying he was bad but come on. Is there anybody that would disagree that Anthony Hopkins would have absolutely rocked that part? Plus it would have added some super star power.
4. Lupin. Once again. I liked him, he was okay, but could have been really good. I think this role was another one that could have used some real star power.
Other than that, the casting has been dead on accurate. I really don’t think they could have done any better casting any of the movies. If I was to give a reason for showing up opening day for everyone of these movies, it is that the casting is the best I have seen out of any movie to date. I read a lot of books and watch a lot of movies and it is truly insane how good these movies are from that stand point. Maggie Smith is another one that I had picked from the first time I read the books. Even the people they didn’t put in. When they first casted the Sorcerers Stone they did have someone cast for Peeves. It was Rik Mayal. For those who don’t know, he played Drop Dead Fred. This was one of the major disappointments of the series as far as I am concerned. No Peeves. What a gyp. All it would have really taken was 1 or 2 scenes with him speaking. The rest of the time he could have been doing what he does best. Reeking havoc through scenes but just kinda in the back ground. You know, Ron and Harry are walking down the hall and you see him flying through the background throwing chalk at students. Closely followed by Filch. At least then we would have something for some comic relief. Instead they change lines and the story to add in comic relief. I really wanted to see him torturing Umbridge. I was listening to that book the other day and one of my favorite scenes is where he is following her through the whole school blowing raspberries every time she tried to talk. If you are going to force comic relief, why not do it right.
Yes I Know The Story+
Of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
If that movie was not total garbage then I would own it. I may buy it one day just for the case. I would use the DVD as a coaster. Then at least I would get some use out of it. It takes a true fan to admit when someone has screwed up one of the best books in the series. I have tried to justify it but it is still garbage.
*sigh* a true fan buys what they can from what they love,are u telling me u didnt like the movie at all??? Seriously? Not one good scene?
I would have to say that their were 2 scenes they totally got right in that movie.
1st was Ron taking the love potion. I thought Rupert did an excellent job in that scene and it was pretty much the way I envisioned it. (minus Slugghorn in that scene because that was the worst casting they have done through the whole series.)
2nd was the scene by the black lake. That looked really good and was well played by both actors. It is really the only scene that I would say was just spot on.
The rest was just kinda stupid and a lot of it took me out of the moment by the stupidity. Let me put it to you this way, my wife loves these movies. I made her watch them and to then read the books and she has become superfan number 2 in this house. When they blew up the burrow, she almost got up and walked out of the theater. This may be nit picking but when Snape used the Killing Curse and it was blue, if my sister wouldn’t have pulled me back into the chair I would have left. By the end of that scene we were all 3 ready to go.
The only reason we stayed was because we knew it was almost over. The thing about Avada Kadavra being blue just pissed me off. To me if you are going to screw up the story line that bad then the scenes you put in the movie need to be awesome and paying attention to detail is a must. If they wouldn’t have harped on about him seeing flashes of green light and them making so many references to it through out the books and the movies, I probably wouldn’t have cared as much. Another example of this was Grawp. I do want to say that he looked good but in all fairness they turned him into a tard with a bell. Where the bloody hell did he get that anyway? They spent all that time and money to do that scene and make it visually awesome then to screw it up by not paying someone to do a voice. Hell I would have done it for free. It wasn’t like he was having to quote Shakespeare. All he had to say was “Hagger and Hermey”. How are they supposed to teach him English when he can’t even talk? Ring once for yes, twice for I should have never given a 16 ft handy capped Giant a bell.
As I said before, one day I may own the Real World Hogwarts but I wouldn’t pay a penny over 5 dollars for it and it would probably never come out of the package.
Ok grawp talking would be funny to the audience if he says hagger and hermy dont u think? The burrow attack needed to be there to add ACTION. And wow,sucks for u i enjoy my copy of HBP very much
LMAO! well hes not gay to me….Actually i never focused on him while reading i focused on his powers.
YEah, which are tragically not shown all that much until the end of the books. I would have loved to see more. PErsonally, I hope they flashback at some point to his duel with Grindelwald. It would be added, because it was never actually shown in the book, only spoken of….(lookin at you Greater Tater)
Still, I’d be hyped if that showd up.
That would be an exception to the rule. To see something that bears on the true plot is fine. It happened in the books. It wasn’t discribed in detail and I would love to see it on film. The problem is that they would probably take out something that is critical to the plot to do it.
Deathly hallows part 2 will have ALOT of flashbacks….
@darklydreamingbernie
I meant to mention that Boris the Blade was my first thought too. I love that movie and so far, everything I have seen him in he has been outstanding.
@Rickster
To me, the Deathly Hallows is going to have to have a lot of flashbacks and I hope that is really why they are making it into 2 movies. The 2nd of the 2 is going to be the critical one for flashbacks. I really hope they do his entire trip through Snapes background. That is such a holy crap moment in the books. I am also with you in saying that I want to see a flash back when Aberforth is telling his story.
That was one of the other major things that I hated about HBP was that they cut out almost all of the trips into the Pensive. Forget about the nitpicking that was why I think that movie was garbage. They sacrificed learning about Lord Voldemort and the Horcruxes for a cheesy love story. Cause now in the story if you have only watched the movies, you have no idea about the cup, the locket, nor anything else. Even Dumbledore said he had no idea.
Theyre saving all that good stuff for deathly hallows man
darklydreamingbernie
Im not sure if THATS in,i only know about part 1,but yeah it would be cool,i wanna see Adrianna get killed. Oh wait it might be in actually,they casted a guy as young grindelwald! Yes Now i remember,theres a guy who plays young grindlewald,so there must be a flashback!
darklydreamingbernie
Hey yes i just asked my freind young grindelwald was cast: Jamie Campell Bower Is gonna play him.
Yep yep, he was in Rocknrolla for a bit. I like him, he’s spunky. And…he’s marrying the chick who plays Ginny.
Yes he is….I cant wait to see that scene though!
