Warner Bros. has released so many clips and featurettes for next week’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 that it makes our heads spin ’round all Exorcist-style just thinking about it.
We’ve rounded up the latest clips from the second-to-last Harry Potter movie for your viewing pleasure, and thrown in two more featurettes as well, including a cool little piece about composer Alexandre Dusplat’s score for the film.
Both halves of Deathly Hallows promise to be overflowing with dark visuals, suspense, action, drama, and everything else in between. Part 1 finds Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron (Rupert Grint), and Hermione (Emma Watson) on the run in the countryside, as You-Know-Who’s forces have taken control of the Ministry of Magic and are wagering an all-out war against the rest of the wizarding population.
It doesn’t help that the heroic trio can only depend on each other to find and destroy the Horcruxes, which hold the key to defeating the dark Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) – what with Professor Dumbledore (Michael Gambon) permanently out of commission and the rest of their comrades just working hard to stay alive themselves.
This first clip shows the snake-faced Voldemort and his Death Eaters – whose ranks include the maniacal Bellatrix Lestrange (Helena Bonham Carter) and our favorite Hogwarts employee, Severus Snape (Alan Rickman) – meeting at the ever-so-charming home of Lucius Malfoy (Jason Isaacs):
Next is a scene in which Harry, Ron, and Hermione visit the home of Xenophilius Lovegood (Rhys Ifans), father of their charmingly eccentric friend, Luna (Evanna Lynch), who provides the trio with a bit of information about the titular Deathly Hallows:
The constant threat of death and harm to themselves, friends and family, eventually takes its toll on Harry, Ron, and Hermione, as nicely illustrated in this last Deathly Hallows clip:
There are two other Deathly Hallows: Part 1 featurettes that have made their way online for viewing as well. First, watch this bit about what happens to the wizarding government in the film and how Harry, Ron, and Hermione must hatch a plan to infiltrate the Ministry of Magic:
Last (but certainly not least) is a behind-the-scenes glimpse at development and recording of the Deathly Hallows musical score:
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 hits regular and IMAX theaters on November 19th, 2010. Potter fans – do try and avoid collapsing from anticipation in the meantime, yes?
