Harry Potter and the Death Hallows Part 1 Trailer

The long-awaited and eagerly anticipated first trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has finally been released by Warner Bros. and it definitely awards the hordes Muggles who’ve waited patiently to see the final installments of the Harry Potter series come to life on the silver screen.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I is based on the 7th and final book of author J. K. Rowling’s epic fantasy series, following the adventures of young wizard Harry Potter and friends. No longer just kids, Harry along with loyal companions Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, drop out of school after their mentor, Dumbledore, dies by the wand of Severus Snape. Our heroes set out after the evil Lord Voldemort who has gained control over the Ministry of Magic.

Part 1 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows covers only the first segment of the final book however, and we’ll unfortunately be left clamoring for more once it’s done – especially after seeing some of the scenes of this trailer. Watch the Harry Potter 7 trailer for a glimpse of Harry’s journey to seek out and destroy Lord Voldemort and the epic tale that involves all members of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the characters we’ve come to know and love over the years.

Without further ado, we present to you the trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Head to Yahoo for the HD version.

Beautiful in its visuals and powerful in its sound and scope, Harry Potter 7 looks to bring fans along for Harry’s ride into darker themes and deeper emotions as he confronts his greatest enemy. This is an epic trailer for what will surely be an event, more than just a film.

Here are a bunch of stills from the trailer [Click to Enlarge]:

To cash in on what may be this year’s (and next year’s) biggest movie and conclusion of the incredibly successful franchise, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has not only been split into two separate films to tell the lengthier story of the final Harry Potter novel, but it’s also coming with everyone’s not-so-favorite tacked-on 3D which will bring the price of seeing the conclusion of the Harry Potter film franchise to nearly three times the cost it was the see the previous installments in regular theaters.

For us moviegoers and dedicated Harry Potter fans, that doesn’t matter too much after seeing this trailer. Although, I’ll likely not be seeing this in 3D after the Clash of the Titans debacle…

How excited are you now for some more Harry Potter?

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I debuts in theaters this Fall, on November 19, 2010; Part II will be released on July 15, 2011.

  1. I’m a huge fan of the books and I’ve never been a huge fan of the movies, but damn, these look like some epic films!

  2. Yippee!

  3. That was awesome! Cannot wait for both of them!

As for the 3D, there’s still time to redo some of the scenes for both movies in 3D, if not, then hopefully with the time they have they can do a good job of converting them and making them look almost like true 3D.

    • 3-D is so fail!

  4. Awesome!

  5. With all the Twilight crap hitting my face I always forget about Harry Potter. That and it’s been a while since the books came out so it’s not very fresh on my mind but most of the movies have been pretty good quality even though the last one was very forgettable. It’s amazing when you think about it now, the last one will come out in 2011, the first one came out I believe in 2001. So in a little over 10 years this franchise has turned out 8 movies with most of them being very good, quite amazing actually. The movies have had great visuals and been very interesting stories to watch unfold, they’ve really captured the books well.

Anyway, I’ll certainly see this one and part 2.

    • I agree, I am so done with the ‘Twilight’ series! Okay, one last time…

      “Go TEAM Jacob!!!!!!”

There, I got it all out!

      Done

      :D

  6. Looks…………so………………EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Too bad its almost gone forever :( I really do hope she comes back to write a couple more books.

  7. i thought Hermione was supposed to have blood on the hands? whats up with that

    • I was wondering that too, maybe the fact that this trailer will be shown alongside Eclipse had something to do with it?

  8. Judging by the book, this trailer has scenes from both part 1 and part 2. So, we are actually getting a look at the whole film. COOL! Looks incredible.

  9. I thought the last one got a bad rap.
    I enjoyed it .
Looks like the conclusion is coming out on my birthday next year .

    • Agreed. I hope people come around on Half Blood Prince because I thought – while admittedly not very faithful to the book – it was damn near genius. Like a British New Wave flick meeting a Fritz Lang silent feature.

  10. I came here to ‘rant’ about “not another Harry Potter movie” sort of tirade, blah, blah, blah! But then, I seen the trailer…

oh snap! And its in two parts!

    w00t!

  11. that might have been the most epic trailer I have ever seen wow that was amazing, man that was awsome seems they are giving this the end it deserves.

  12. Looks much more grown up than the previous films. And yeah, epic. :)

    Vic

  13. Is that Krilian?

  14. This book is by far the darkest in the series, gonna put the acting to the test of harry, ron, and hermonie since a majority of the time is spent hiding out together. Im looking forward to it. Visuals look freaking awesome as always! Man i cant believe its almost over.

  15. i think this movies are better than the half blood prince i’ll absolutly will watch both of the movies really like the books

  16. Looks like they have that real epic feel going on, which the last part of the book had going in spades, so I’m excited. With this though, I think I may forgo any other promotional material for these particular movies and go in to them as blindly as possible.

  17. WHile it does look good, it doesnt feel like Harry Potter anymore to me, obviously the characters and situations evolve but the films have taken on a life of their own and lost the elements that really made them magical.

The Half Blood Prince was terrible, I hated almost all of it, it focused on the wrong stuff and left the title character out almost entirely. It had too much of a real world feel to it, and this one looks exactly the same.

  18. I am a huge fan of the Harry Potter books and of the movies. I am really hoping that they do not mess up the Parts 1 and 2 of the 7th book like they did for the 6th book. The ending of the 6th movie was a huge disappointment for me.

  19. Finally! Epic is correct!

  20. is the villain Michael Fiennes [bald guy]?

    • Ralph Fiennes and yes, he’s the villain.

    • If this is the first that you’re seeing of him, I’d suggest you take a look at a few previous films to figure out what’s going on. There’s a lot that you should know before going into the movie.

  21. EPIC

  22. Gritty and awesome

  23. The trailer was NOT epic Rob. Not even close.

    Examples of EPIC trailes-
    Inception
    The Adjustment Bureau

This trailer was just loaded with CGI. Hell, even Harry Potter can say a few words.
“Because I something to live for”
    Bah!

  24. Okay, I’ll admit it. I got a bit of a chill watching that. It looks gorgeous! And very exciting. I’m really looking forward to these two final films.

Side note: not sure I really need them in 3D, especially because the other 6 films were not in 3D so I don’t think it’s necessary for this particular film series. It’s kind of annoying and pointless. The films stand on their own with great characters and story and effects. It doesn’t need to be amped up with 3D, which I think is only a distraction even if it can be a cool distraction. I’m glad they’ll be offering the final two films in 2D as well. Either way, though, bring it on! November and next July can’t come soon enough!

  25. Very excited! The best of the series it looks like. I dont think it will disappoint the fans. I really want to see the final epic battle between harry and voldemort. Im going to complete the journey in 3d. Love the series and cant believe its going to end next year but all good things must come to a end.

  26. I wonder where the spilt will occur?

Personally, I think it would have been better if Harry Potter was an animated series or something; then we could have the depth that the series calls for but oh well. :/

    • *****!!!!!SPOILERS!!!!!*****

The split will occur when the trio get captured and taken to Malfoy Manor.

  27. mixed feelings about the whole thing, im much more excited by the trailers for inception and adjustment bureau. I wish they would have put this last installment back in the hands of alfonso cuaron, I thought he brought both the emotional and aesthetic darkness to the third movie that this last one needs and lacked in the half blood. Whoever directed the last movie doesnt understand that darkness in a film isnt just conveyed by making everything on screen dark digitally in post production. In the end though like most i have so much invested in this franchise that im going to end up seeing them both anyway and in all fairness they arent horrible movies just not to the level the books deserve. and who says Woot? only one person I know.

  28. Wow. That’s all that can really come out as a response. This is epic. Funny thing is though, I never knew this many people hated the last movie. It’s the only reason I got into Harry Potter to begin with. My gf made me watch it. Then, I had to watch the rest so I knew what was happening, then I read the books. All in all, I’m really glad she dragged me to the movies. Excited to find out how there gonna end it all.

    Ill be there opening night.

  29. I’ll be seeing it all right. I enjoyed all the books and all the films, even though the films from the Goblet of Fire onwards sort of blur together in my mind. The first three were pretty distinct. They felt almost standalone. Oh well.

I’m sure the Deathly Hallows will be entertaining, at the very least. It’s kind of sad that Guillermo del Toro turned this down to direct The Hobbit, then ended up not directing either of them.
