Warner Bros. has bestowed upon us a brand new theatrical trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the two-part conclusion to the most successful movie franchise of all time.

After six magic-filled installments, Harry, Ron and Hermione have to face up to the evil Lord Voldermort in a battle that feels very much like the culmination of everything that’s happened so far.

Along with familiar faces there’s also some new actors joining the franchise for its final journey including Bill Nighy, Rhys Ifans and David O’Hara (Wanted). The Harry Potter franchise has always had a wonderful cast of great (often classic British) actors, just one of the many things the series has to offer.

I know it’s the marketing team’s job to make every movie look good but the trailers for Deathly Hallows so far have looked pretty spectacular and this latest one is certainly no different. Enjoy the trailer for yourself below:

On top of the trailer there’s also a bunch of new Potter pics that have been released. Take a look at a selection of them:

Even if splitting Deathly Hallows into two parts is really just so WB can effectively double their profits on the last HP film, it’s not exactly a bad thing for fans of the franchise. Yes, it means that audiences will have to wait eight months after Part 1 to find out how the whole story concludes (that’s if they haven’t already read the last book to know) but it also means fans have double the time left to spend immersed with these characters in this fantastic world.

I’m not the world’s biggest Harry Potter fan but I’ll definitely be there on opening day of both parts of the last film.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 is released on November 19th, 2010, with Part 2 following next summer on July 15th, 2011.

  1. Honestly, to do the books justice, the last two or three should have been split into two-apart films. There was definitely enough material for it. And it’s truly a shame they didn’t, as much of what is crucial information to the dénouement of the story in Deathly Hallows has actually been excised from the preceding films. I’m rather perplexed at how they will include the answers to questions into the last films when the questions themselves were never asked in the preceding films.

    • That’s what I had thought all along. Should’ve started the 2 parters with Goblet of Fire.

  2. Overall, the movies were better than I had originally expected. But let’s all cheer one thing: M. Night Shyamalan didn’t get his hands on the director’s seat when he tried to. That’s worth a cheer, eh?

    • Definitely worth a cheer. But there was no way in hell that Warner Bros. would have let him be director, just doesn’t fit in any way. In any case, I can’t wait for this damn movie.

  3. OMG this is the best trailer in the whole world i keep watching it!!!!!!

  4. I don’t get it…(snicker), kust kiddding Rickster ;)

  5. am I the only that felt that after that awesome trailer they showed over the Summer this just pales in comparison? If you will excuse me now I must watch this now for the 100th time…

Also shame on you screenrant, all of the other sites are showing photos of the seven potters and emma Watson but you’re not!

  6. Yes screenrant post the other pics too!!!!!!!!!!! WAS THIS EPIC OR WAS THIS EPIC?????

  7. This was epic. I’m glad that it focused completely on Part I so I don’t have to hear Voldemort say ‘The boy who lived come to die’ again. That line got really old really quick.

  8. I need this to be a 2 part film so that i can get lost in it until Burton and Jarmusch come up with something for me to think about. Maybe I need to just sit down to a stack of books this winter because I really would like to see something remarkably different and if Potter is as close as I can get then something is really really off track in the industry.

  9. This is gonna be the best film ever! Until part 2 that is :D

  10. wow.. loved it.. but do they honestly have to put clips from previous movies in this trailer?? kinda cheap.

  11. Benji

Those parts are in the film they show flashbacks to explain tge horcruxes.

    • oh. i see now… that makes perfect sense. Thanks for explanation!

  12. no words

  13. Oh my gosh! I can’t wait to see this! I got goosebumps watching the trailer. I really hope they made it a good one! :)

  14. Benji
    No problem

    A bomb
You can do better than that lol, youre DYING remember? Hahaha!!!

  15. My issue is this: will they find a way to work in Dumbledore being gay into the movie? And if they do…will they do it in a respectable way? I’m not saying anything bad about the concept of Dumbledore’s lifestyle or whatever, I’m asking if anyone thinks they’ll do it in the first place, and how they should go about it (not like they’ll listen to us, anyways).

    • Misterbert, ask ricky up there, he KNOWS all :) (about HP anyway :))

  16. MisterBert

It is NEVER mentioned in the books that hes gay,the autgor only stated she sees him as if he was gay,but the books dont go into his sexuality so no,they wont say nothing about his sexuality. To me he isnt gay,i never thought hed be gay,its for u to decide.

    • interestingly, I only read the last book after J.K. Rowling announced that she had sketched out Dumbledore as being gay, even if it was not necessarily a part of the book per se.

And somehow, it seems logical. There ARE subtle little hints that she did think of him as being gay, even if nothing is ever spelled out. I’ve gained so much respect for Rowling. She really is a subtle writer.

      • Mike E: I know exactly what you mean. I recently finished re-reading the whole series since I’d read Book 7 and of course after Rowling’s announcement about Dumbledore and I couldn’t believe that I hadn’t seen it before. (I felt even more incredulous after I read Book 2 again… seeing as how Dumbledore gives it all away and nobody really caught it.)

I wouldn’t put it past a studio to incorporate information not in the books, but fact, into the movies. However it is Warner Brothers so to keep promoting ‘family friendly’ they will probably not include it.

Truth be told if they did, even if it was just a lingering gaze or a zoom in on the brush of a hand, I’d probably get pissed. If it wasn’t made clear in the book than don’t put it in the movie.

        • To be perfectly honest, while part of me would cheer at a “blatant” gay character for Dumbledore, the honest truth is I far prefer the subtle approach that Rowling used. It’s very “real”. And next to impossible to include in a film context. It’s just one of those “if you’re attuned to it, you might notice it, if not, you won’t”.

  17. bert, there ya go LOL…

  18. good call on casting Nighy, that guy is awesome

    • He should have also been in the 6th movie. That is where his character Schrimiger makes his first appearance. I love Bill Nighy and thought that was a real loss.

All of these Harry Potter movies are just a who’s who of amazing British talent.

      • i have yet to read the books jessie, thanks for the heads up :) i’ll get to them after both part 1 and part 2 of the last film is released though

  19. Hell yes i know EVERYTHING!!!!

  20. notice the parentisis i used…..

  21. Yes i did. I know it ALL noone hesitate to ask anything ask away!

    • You have to get to Gamma Triangulum from Earth; what is the ratio of matter to anti-matter you must use to arrive within 5 days?

  22. Looks ok…haven’t seen any Potter films since #2..?CHamber of Secrets..

    • youre risking his wrath GN333!!

      • The Rickster sees and knows all!! :)

  23. Nice! One of the few movies I’m looking forward to. Thanks for the update Ross!

Jesse, yes his sexuality must NOT be including and im 100% sure its out. And yeah scrimgeour shouldve been in the beginning of part 6!!!
