We may now know the names of a few more characters from the upcoming currently-Untitled Han Solo Anthology Film (which one of these days will be getting a catchier title). In addition to a youthful incarnation of Solo played by Alden Ehrenreich, the film is set to feature Donald Glover as a young Lando Calrissian, Woody Harrelson as Solo’s criminal mentor Beckett and Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca. The movie’s cast also includes Emilia Clarke, Michael K. Williams, Thandie Newton and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, but almost no official details have been revealed about their roles yet.
Despite the tremendous secrecy surrounding Young Han Solo and the nature of its supporting characters, a few details have managed to leak out to the internet. Characters named Mother Proxima, Val and Dryden Vos are reportedly part of the film – and now, we can add a few more names to the growing list of new characters in the Han Solo film.
For Star Wars Day, Making Star Wars has dropped three new character names out there, and this time around we at least can match actors to names. The three new names are Rebolt, Moloch and Moloch’s Henchman, with Rebolt played by Ian Kenny (whose involvement in the film was previously announced), Moloch by Harley Durst and Moloch’s Henchman by Tien Hoang. Beyond those reveals, Making Star Wars also says it has heard the names “Gremm” and “Emlys Nest” but can’t say yet whether these are character names, the names of planets or what.
Rebolt actor Ian Kenny was previously seen in Sing Street as the character Barry, and had a recurring role on the TV series Fair City. Harley Durst, who plays the sinisterly-named Moloch, is an accomplished stunt performer who has doubled for big names, including Tom Hiddleston on Thor: Ragnarok and David Thewlis on Wonder Woman. Tien Hoang is also a stunt performer with only a handful of credits to his name (and an Instagram page that is about to have a lot more followers).
Since they’re being played by stunt performers, we can safely guess that Moloch and Moloch’s Henchman both get involved in some serious action, possibly involving very intricate fight choreography along the lines of what Donnie Yen did in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Rebolt has a name that suggests he could be involved in the maintenance of space ships.
Though it’s nice to have these new tidbits of knowledge, the big questions about the Young Han Solo cast are still to be answered. Thanks to the heightened level of secrecy around the film, we still have no idea who lead actress Emilia Clarke is playing (we do know she’s having some anxiety about all the secrecy), nor do we know anything about Michael K. Williams or Thandie Newton’s characters. Phoebe Waller-Bridge is playing a CGI character, possibly a droid along the lines of Rogue One‘s K-2SO. Eventually, more of the movie’s secrets will be given up, and we’ll begin to get a picture of what Young Han Solo is all about.
