New story details for Halloween Kills emerge, teasing a big fight against Micheal Myers. The knife-wielding psychopath was first brought to screens in 1978 when horror maestro John Carpenter released Halloween. The film is well-regarded as one of the best slashers out there, which resulted in numerous Halloween sequels and reboots. While everything after the original Halloween is often considered sub-par, the Halloween released in 2018 reinvigorated the franchise.

David Gordon Green's Halloween took place 40 years after the original film and ended with Michael getting trapped in Laurie's burning house. Plot details surrounding the sequel have been kept under wraps, but there have been several casting announcements, some of which will be familiar faces to long-time fans of the franchise. Multiple characters are returning from the 1978 film, including Lindsey Wallace, Nurse Marion Chambers, and Sheriff Leigh Brackett, all of who are played by their original actors. The character Tommy Doyle is also going to be in the film, but Anthony Michael Hall is replacing Brian Andrews for the sequel. While fans were already excited to see these returning faces, it looks like they may have a significant role to play in Halloween Kills.

In an exclusive interview with Empire, writer Danny McBride teased that the returning characters may try to attack Michael as a group saying, "Events in the film bring together a lot of characters who were in the 1978 film who we didn’t see last time. They gather to try, once and for all, to take down Michael, to stop this madman.” McBride also compared Halloween Kills to 2018's Halloween, saying the first film was about Laurie's isolation, but that the sequel is "more about the unraveling of a community into chaos. It’s about how fear spreads virally.”

Lindsey and Tommy watching TV in Halloween

With as popular as the Halloween franchise has become in the last 40 years, many have been itching to find out what is going to happen in the sequel. With two sequels being announced last year, it was clear Michael was going to escape Laurie's house, but the recent teaser for Halloween Kills indicates that firefighters might unintentionally help Michael escape as they contain the flames. Speculation has also run rampant on how the film could end, with many believing Laurie could die to make her granddaughter Allyson, the hero of Halloween Ends.

Details surrounding the returning characters are still unknown at this time, but this new story information for Halloween Kills indicates that the actors may have more than just cameo roles. Laurie obviously had reason to fear and hate Michael Myers, but so do all of these returning characters. Tommy and Lindsey were likely scarred by what happened that Halloween night because of how young they were, and Brackett's daughter, Annie, was murdered at the hands of Michael. Even Nurse Chambers was attacked by Michael, but she was lucky enough to survive her encounter. Having these characters all team up to fight Michael could be a satisfying end for some of their story arcs, but Michael's story certainly won't be over in Halloween Kills.
