Bloody Disgusting received confirmation that Patrick Lussier, the My Bloody Valentine 3D director and editor of numerous Wes Craven films has officially signed on to direct Halloween 3D. You can exhale now. Lussier’s former colleague Todd Farmer (who wrote My Bloody Valentine 3D) has signed on to pen the newest installment of the Halloween franchise. So if you loved My Bloody Valentine 3D, chances are you’re all set for Halloween 3D (brought to you by Dimension Films).
To recap my earlier post on Halloween 3D, this will be the eleventh film in the horror franchise that has grossed more than $300MM worldwide, was started under the direction of John Carpenter and most recently rebooted by Rob Zombie. The franchise has largely (although not exclusively) followed psycho killer Michael Myers through his Halloween night killing sprees.

Farmer knows his way around a scary-movie script, having written Jason X, The Messengers (the story for it, at least) and Messengers 2: The Scarecrow. Lussier brought us Dracula 2000, Dracula II: Ascension and Dracula III: Legacy. They are both also committed (as writer and director, respectively) to the upcoming Nicolas Cage action flick Drive Angry. Bromance alert.
Ongoing collaborative relationships (ex. Burton/Depp, Scorcese/DiCaprio) have produced some real gems in film. Let’s hope Lussier/Farmer only gets better with time. What’s your favorite all-time two-person team in movie-making?
Michael Myers has had plenty of screen time over the last 20 years – but of course he’s not the only one. Who’s your favorite scared-to-love-’em horror brutalizer that’s been in at least 3 films?
Dimension Films hopes to put Halloween 3D in movie theaters in the summer of 2010.

The original H3 was subtitled “Season of the Witch” and had some frakked-up Halloween masks converting heads of the wearers to spiders/snakes/scorpions, etc.; PLEASE tell me they aren’t doing that storyline again, please?
Please tell me this will have nothing to do with those awful Rob Zombie movies?
man that suks. now well never see my bloody valentine 2. bogus, couse i liked the movie (thats just my opinion)
i dont know why there making another halloween film if the 2nd one got terrible reviews and maid 3rd place in the box office. well i just hope this movie will be better then the other ones.
didn’t he get killed in h2?
oh yeah, i forgot…movie
Another Halloween movie, come on man that is just ridiculous
Please don’t make it a sequal to Rob Zombies H-2.
Why not start again, and forget the 3D, or just
let Michael die with a little dignity left.
If you are doing it (Deminsion Films) to just keep milking it for money, then find out what the die hard fans of Halloween really want and make it for them, you will get your money in the process. Go back to the core of what Michael was really supposed to be, “purely and simply EVIL”
