Alright I feel the need to post a response too. This movie was awful. I just watched it for the first time and I must say, what the hell were the people making this movie thinking. First off, Sheri Moon Zombie cannot act. So were forced to sit through and hour and 45 mins of watching her deliver all her poorly written lines with her 12 year old girl on helium voice. Second, why ruin the Dr. Loomis character? He was a sympathetic character in the originals who sacrificed his ability to have a normal life for the safety of the people Michael was coming after(Laurie, Jamie, etc...). In this movie, he is just a greedy Dr. with dreams of being famous at the expense of others. I mean they even wrote in a scene where he is complaining about his picture because it isnt the "New Loomis". Michael I think was changed too much to actually like the character. The original remake wasnt bad, he was written as an intense brutal murderer similar to the original. Now he grunts and groans and even at one point in the alternate ending of H2 ::Spoiler Alert:: he actually rips off his mask and tells Loomis to die before stabbing him. Oh and did anyone else notice that, without the mask, Michael just looked like a 7+ foot tall Rob Zombie? I don't know what they were thinking but this movie gets 1 our of 5 because even the gore couldnt displace how bad everything else was.

Do you people really think this movie is horrible? I mean come on people. Rob Zombie (greatest horror director OF OUR GENERATION). Created by far the most original take on the Micheal Myers story. What more do you people want? I mean maybe you would've thought it was better if he threw in a prom scene and some floors that turn into the gates of hell....Please...you people wouldn't know horror if it struck you twice on the ass.

OMG Holloween 2 sucks. Michael Myers just looks like an overgrown ape and the Halloween music (which makes the original so scary) only gets played at the end. Good horror film but Michael Myers fans will be dissapointed.

i hated this film it was the worst horror film ever. thye reasion why the old halloween films were so good is because the audience never saw the killers face. this makes the killer a lot more scery as the audience can not see who it is and therefore they subconsciously think it could be someone who they know. this film as distroyed this level of fear. all rob zombie is, is a splater film director not a horror director. as a fan of the films i fell very let down by this film and will not see it again!

I just seen the new halloween movie in a theater and it sucked.I went straight home and put on the original to cheer me up.It was an insult to carpenters version.Michael myers looked like a bag lady all he needed was a shopping cart.DR Lomis who is always the hero, was seen as the bad guy and what was the deal with michaels dead mother following him around everywhere wlth a stupid white horse, like she was his sidekick. The whole movie was just plain stupid, there was no theme music until the credits and what zombie lacked in the scare factor he tried to make up for with disturbance.Instead of being on the edge of your seat wracked with fear the movie justs puts you off your popcorn.Zombie butchered a classic and i cringe at the thought of another remake attempt.Leave this movie alone you cant improve on perfection.Carpentor you rock

The Long And Short Of It:

Like every Rob Zombie film, I felt it to be over wrought with every single thing he has learned about filmmaking, i.e. using every single camera angle, sound effect, special effect, blood pack available, etc. Halloween 2 and his remake of the original are simply, not scary. At all! Simplicity is the key here. Minimize the locations. Keep it relatable. One house. A hospital. Someplace anyone (you!) could be. Both films are a mess.

Ive been a fan of the Halloween franchise through good and bad. I actually saw Halloween 2 in a theater back in 1981. Thought Halloween(1978), Halloween 2(1981) were the best (also enjoy Halloween 4 and H20) but this latest film from Rob Zombie was just awful. I hated what he did to the characters and the film has no scares or suspense at all. Also Scout Taylor Compton who plays Laurie Strode is one of the worst actresses Ive ever seen. As a long time fan of the franchise I was insulted at Zombies approach. The crowd I saw the film with Booed at the end as just about everyone in the theater seemed to have hated it.

Saw Halloween II in theaters, and I must say I was highly disappointed. You can tell by my profile that I am a bit of a Halloween buff considering I work for a Halloween Costume Website. The first of these retellings was excellent. It added new depth to characters that were lacking in portrayal and took new turns into unexplored territories of the franchise. This newest installment did nothing of the sort.

I felt the original gave the appearance that the film was set in the 70s and then perhaps the 80s, however in this they have cell phones, make references to Fergie, there are new cars, etc. Also, they give no explanation as to how Michael miraculously survives multiple .357 (a gun designed to destroy tissue and organs) gunshot wounds.

Also, it's indicated that Michael was only grazed by the round Laurie fired into his face at point blank range. However, there is quite a lot of arterial spray for a simple graze. Not to mention, even though Michael is supposed to be this behemoth monster, the pain would be so immeasurable that he would not have made it ten feet. Then of course, there was the portrayal of Michael. After his mother died he never speaks in the slightest. He takes several extremely damaging blows and doesn't so much as whimper. I would have no problem with this but for the most part when he kills someone he grunts like a caveman, something he did not do in the first. I understand that I am referencing the first installment of the retelling quite a bit, but I feel that if you're going to make a sequel that follows nearly directly after the first, then you should at least stick to your character designs and plot concepts. Now, for the final nail in this coffin, Sherri Moon Zombie appears quite a bit in the movie as a ghost. I don't really consider this a spoiler, so I didn't mark it as such. The real reason she is in the movie, is because she loves attention and I don't think Rob zombie could deal with the fact of making a movie that didn't involve his wife in some way. Her ghostly appearances would have been freaky and weird, if she wasn't in every other scene, looking ridiculous and rattling off her dialog in the poorest manner.

Also, why is the child version of Michael a ghost with his mother? Last I checked he wasn't dead, he just grew up. I would accept that when Michael put on the mask it represented a fracture in his psyche, but the boy version of Michael is wearing a mask as well. So if Zombie was trying to achieve that point, he simply made it redundant.

I only give this movie a 2/5 because the gore was quite good. But if you're looking for something more than that, or perhaps you hope that this movie will broaden the characters more-so than the first, I suggest you look elsewhere. Reluctantly 2/5. (Also, fun fact, a third is already slated and is going to be in 3D. The best part: Rob Zombie isn't directing it.)

I think you may have meant "exorcise". :)

Congratulations, this entire article was an immense pleasure to read, and fairly well-balanced to boot! A true pleasure. Thank-you.

I thought the visuals were pretty impactful.
The violence was extraordinarily brutal.

That is about where the good ends.. and the bad begins.

the plot was not strong.

The entire horse, and angelic mother theme was over-the-top.

The dialogue was forced at times.

I DO think the final 60 seconds of the movie was by far the best of the entire movie.

Just the ending was worth the price... at least the matinee price.

Pat have you even been to the movies this summer ? or at all this year ? there is by far way worse movies then this,
one thing i like about Rob Zombie is that he really gets peoples emotions involved as in he creates the mood of the scene, making the viewer think bloddy hell stop slashing them already etc, apart from that he doesnt have that much character development skills.
he should have stopped at the first one becuase that was more like an origin movie much like the texas chainsaw massacre: the begining or hannibal rising no need for another remake

Well I thought it would be a good date movie...Wrong!!..My wife looked at me during the first "van murder" scene, like she wanted to punch me in the eye LOL. As far as rating it- I only want to score it at a 2 or 3 because of the brutal kills. The story was kinda cheesy with the spectre and young version of Michael, but hey I didn't expect to go see a love story or shoot'em up bang bang movie. You have to admit- this is what we all wanted to see anyway. I used to say "if I saw michael coming to get me I'd run my ass off". With this film I now understand why some of those horror movie chciks fall while running. Michael definately instills fear in ur azz, enough to make your legs quiver. Especially if you just witnessed him murdering someone in person only to realize he saw you see him do it and you might be next. So leqve Rob Zombie alone. Great slasher film

Most critics are assholes.......Nuff said. This movie was too psychological for you genre loving drones. Rob Zombie a film that was horrifying because it disturbed you. I feel like no one here got it....
