It appears Hollywood is trying to tell us something about the integrity of relationships.

On the heels of a trailer for Ivan Reitman's No Strings Attached comes a trailer for The Farrelly Brothers' comedy Hall Pass.

On top of the directing pair's lack of success are the continuous misfires of "leading men" Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis - the co-stars of Hall Pass. Still, it's tough to hate Christian Applegate (Going the Distance) and Jenna Fischer (The Office), both of which frequently deliver in their limited roles.

Watch the trailer below and see if Hall Pass interests you.

This trailer comes off as a cheap version of Reitman's film. With a less enticing cast and a watered-down concept, Hall Pass will butcher the sanctity of marriage for the sake of comedy. Considering the last Farrelly Brothers comedy that was actually funny is arguably Me, Myself & Irene, this isn't looking good so far.

The trailer has some funny moments, but just feels like another huge miss for The Farrelly Brothers. Of all the upcoming movies about infidelity, this one has the highest possibility of failure. If the two directors have learned from their last buddy comedy, it might have a snowball's chance - even in the scary late-February market.

See if the synopsis below piques your interest a little more:

"Rick (Owen Wilson) and Fred (Jason Sudeikis) are best friends who have a lot in common, including the fact that they have each been married for many years. But when the two men begin to show signs of restlessness at home, their wives (Jenna Fischer, Christina Applegate) take a bold approach to revitalizing their individual marriages: granting them a "hall pass," one week of freedom to do whatever they want...no questions asked. At first, it sounds like a dream come true for Rick and Fred. But it isn't long before they discover that their expectations of the single life-and themselves-are completely, and hilariously, out of sync with reality."

The string of movies that promote, or at least put the spotlight on, cheating is a bit worrisome. Right now, there are trailers for at least three movies confronting the topic - No Strings AttachedThe Dilemma, and Hall Pass. All three come out within a month or so of Valentine's Day.

There is no question Hollywood has its trends. Right now the major motion picture trend is alien invasion movies - 2011 appears to be overflowing with them. But the romantic comedy side of entertainment has its own consistent blend of humor with these cheating movies. Either they are all competing against each other - or Hollywood executives have something to get off their chests.

Ironically, the movies seem to share a common thread. In three of the four, the women consciously allow the men to act promiscuous. This is a bit of a turn on the original plot device where the women react with scorn.

What do you think of the trailer for Hall Pass? Are you ready for the onslaught of rom-coms about infidelity?

Hall Pass slithers its way into theaters on February 25th, 2011.
