Meet The Guardians of the Galaxy Second Guardians of the Galaxy Trailer Debuts Monday; New Poster Released

[Update: Watch the second Guardians of the Galaxy trailer HERE!]

They call themselves the Guardians of the Galaxy. That’s what Nova Corps Centurion Rhomann Dey (John C. Reilly) has been telling us in the one and only Guardians of the Galaxy teaser trailer for the better part of a year. We know. We get it! For those of you who attended the Marvel Studios panel at San Diego Comic-Con last summer, it’s been almost painful having so little new footage to go on for the next Phase 2 film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The good news it, after this weekend, that all changes.

We’ve met Peter Quill aka Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), the leader of Marvel’s cosmic Avengers, and we’ve seen his four pals who help him form the team known as the Guardians of the Galaxy in the promo materials – but we’ve not yet had a chance to get to know these other heroes, nor do we know much about the “psychopathic” Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) and the other supporting characters and antagonists of the film.

That brings us to today, where the next phase of marketing for Disney and Marvel’s space-based superhero film begins. With X-Men: Days of Future Past opening in theaters worldwide next week – and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Captain America: The Winter Soldier out of the way – it’s all Guardians all the time until it releases at the beginning of August.

Because of this, we can finally share with you our interview with star Chris Pratt from the set of Guardians of the Galaxy (with much more to come in the near future) and the exciting news that the second full-length trailer will debut next week!

Be sure to check out the official Guardians of the Galaxy Facebook page on Monday, May 19, 2014 at 10:00am PST for a live Q&A with the cast of the film. You’ll be able to submit your own questions around that time and at 10:30am PST, the second full-length trailer will be released! We already have a good idea of what the second GOTG trailer may show from some leaked info.

While we don’t have any official details, from what director James Gunn said about saving content and reveals for the second trailer, and from a leaked early description of it may have revealed, we’re finally going to hear the voices of Groot (Vin Diesel) and Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper)

[Update: The second one-sheet for Guardians of the Galaxy has just been revealed.]

  1. Second ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ TRAILER Debuts Online Monday

    Fixed heading. :)

  2. That is the best movie poster i have seen in a long time.

  3. Agree with above best poster in a long time, hope the second trailer is as good as the first. That was the best trailer I’ve seen in the last year.

  4. Holy smokes that looks great! I hope we get to see & hear more from Groot & RR. A “talking raccoon” just might be a big hit among the casual folks and could turn out to be the bigger selling point for this.

Well…I mean unless the next trailer is also just explosive as hell. That works too lol.

  5. I think its a safe bet that the may 5, 2017 date will be THOR 3. And yeah… what an awesome poster.

  6. OMG!!!! I can’t believe how awesome this looks!!! I can’t stop smashing my head against things!!!!

    • I know right? I think I’m going to take money out of my son’s college tuition fund just so I can see this at least 26 times in the theatre!!!!

      • Looks great! Best to date! Can’t wait! Great to date! Date to great! Great great great!

        • your message is invalid. Its NOT important if you see it or not…. As long as there is enough smart people paying to see this movie so there is a sequel. standing for nothing, fighting for nothing. A shallow act seems like a victory. I CANT WAIT TO WATCH THIS FILM THEATERS!

  7. I swear…SWEAR…Chris Pratt is holding a plasma rifle the Elites use in Halo, haha!

  8. Everything about this movie makes me love it even more. I really hope I’m not disappointed like I was with ‘Iron Man 3.’ I’ve enjoyed director’s James Gunn prior movies in the past, plus this coming Monday will ROCK with the second trailer!

    • Iron Man 3 was such an amazing pile of s***. I strongly disliked that movie.

      • Here we go again… smh

      • hahahahahahahahahahaha 40+ suits of armor and only Igor was shown performing his purposed function…

  9. Top left of the poster, the space gas extending down to Groot… Thanos, anyone?

    • Your right it does resemble thanos as if he’s smiling and enjoying the battle.

    • Not unless Thanos is really Galactus from Fantastic four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. I believe this is a case of looking too hard…Jesus in toast. Great looking poster regardless!

  10. That poster is truly a thing of beauty!
Just like the first one they’ve released, this one also made me giddy and geeky. Can’t wait to see the trailer, or better than that… just bring out the movie! XD

  11. Who is this movie supposed to be catering to with it’s dumb sense of humor? Adam Sandler fans who also like Marvel?

    • Light up a little bit. Not everyone have witty sense of humor like you.

If you don’t like this movie, a stand-up comedy club might be the right choice for you…

Humor doesn’t always had to be witty and smart.

  12. Great poster !
August can’t come here fast enough

  13. Does anyone know which GOTG comic issue I should read to get ready for this film? I want to be able to spot every little easter egg, reference, and get familiar with the characters.

    • The Volume 2 by Abnett & Lanning, that ran through 2008-2009.
That’s where Gunn is taking ‘inspiration’, though of course there will be differences
Haven’t read the vol 3 by Bendis, but I heard it’s not as good.

    • Start with “Annihilation: Conquest – Starlord”

  14. Reading through the comments I can only think…

It must be nice to be left alone to talk about the things you like without fans of the “other” company coming in to comment for no other reason than to sh** on what you like just because it’s not what they like.

It must be nice to be left in that kind of peace…

    All 15 of you.

  15. The Volume 2 by Abnett & Lanning
That’s where Gunn is taking ‘inspiration’, though of course there will be differences

    • Sorry this was meant to reply Mɛᴛʀᴏ Orlɛanž but my internet screwed up (as always)

  16. I want this as my laptop’s wallpaper.

  17. Such a disappointingly generic poster. The whole layered team mash up is over done. Specially for these marvel movies.

    • Yea, ya know, its almost as if it resembles a comic book cover…strange huh? A movie poster about a comic book resembling a comic book’s cover page. Who’da thunkit?

    • The opposite.

In an era where most posters do the exact the floating heads with blue-orange color scheme, or minimalist text on background, this one is the best-looking one in ages, and reminiscent of the best old school Star Wars posters.
