A new video for Disneyland's upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy -- Mission: BREAKOUT! ride has been released, and it contains several references to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Last year, Disneyland Parks & Resorts officially announced plans to close the Tower of Terror ride in Disney's California Adventure theme park and later reopen the ride with a Guardians of the Galaxy overlay. Those plans are finally coming to a head with the ride expected to open later this week.

Coming off the heels of James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Disney will be opening the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride this coming Saturday, which kicks off this year's "Summer of Heroes" event. Along with the new attraction, the seasonal event will include new heroic encounters, merchandise, and various other functions. But what people are the most excited for is the new Guardians attraction, and we now have our first look at what the new ride will look like.

Disneyland has unveiled the first look at Guardians of the Galaxy -- Mission: BREAKOUT! (video above). The video provides viewers with glimpses of what the attraction looks like on the inside -- including several references to the Marvel Cinematic Universe -- as well as offering comments from actor Benicio del Toro, who played Taneleer Tivan, aka The Collector, in James Gunn's original Guardians of the Galaxy film.

It's quite common for comic book movies to reference the comics they are based on as well as things from the real world. Therefore, it makes sense for Disneyland's first comic book-themed ride to contain references to the movie (and the movie universe) it's based on. The attraction is a recreation of the Collector's vault that moviegoers glimpsed in the first Guardians film, and the video previews what type of references people can expect to see.

The most obvious references are the Nova Corps uniform, Cosmo the space dog, and the Ultron drone. Some of the more difficult things to spot are the Dark Elf mask, Kree artifacts, Warlock's Eye, the Brazier of Bom’Galiath, and the cocoon of "unknown origin." There are plenty more references that weren't teased in the video or that were challenging to determine.

Since the attraction revolves around the Collector, the studio thought it would be fun to include footage of the character's brother from the comics: the Grandmaster. Jeff Goldblum will be making his debut as the character in Thor: Ragnarok later this year, but fans who stuck around till the end of the credits of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 were treated with limited footage of Goldblum dancing in character. According to Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige, they used extra footage of Goldblum for the ride. Unfortunately, that part wasn't shown in today's video.

Guardians of the Galaxy -- Mission: BREAKOUT! opens to the public on Saturday, May 27.
