**Warning: This article contains spoilers for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2**

During today's press conference to round out the Los Angeles press junket for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the media asked about some of the extra surprise characters featured in the film, including Sylvester Stallone's character Stakar Ogord.

Marvel Studios boss and producer Kevin Feige jokingly passed the question about Stallone's character, and teammates, and whether they'd be returning in future Marvel Studios movies to James Gunn, only to have it passed back while laughs ensued.

Here's what we got though, confirming what we learned last year about the appearance of the original year 3000 Guardians of the Galaxy.

Kevin Feige: They're definitely the original Guardians. That was the fun of it and when James had the idea to do more with the Yondu character - who is also an original Guardian - there was the notion that he had a team once like Peter does now. That'd be fun to see them. And [Ving Rhames] is definitely Charlie-27.

Where we see them in the future, time will tell.

James Gunn: With all the post-credits scenes on this movie, they're all funny and fun, and most of them are things we hope to see continue on in the MCU. Whether that's a supporting role in future movies or whatever, I think it would be great to see those things and those characters show up.

It was then asked if James Gunn could identify the rest of the team.

James Gunn: Well, you can read the credits so. Right? I mean, yeah, Ving Rhames is Charlie-27. Michelle Yeoh who I'm an enormous fan of from - I'm a big fan of '90s Hong Kong films. She's a very wonderful person. She is Aleta Ogord who is the other Starhawk, the female Starhawk.

"Who's the red alien guy" someone then asked.

James Gunn: He's not in the credits. Should say it? That's Krugarr. And then Mainframe is the last one.

Kevin Feige: Have you told anyone who Mainframe is?

James Gunn: I haven't told anyone, yeah. Should we?

The crowd laughs loudly.

James Gunn: Oh I think I actually did. I blew it. I told one person.

Kevin Feige: It'll get out.

The conference ended there with the little mystery of Mainfame. In Marvel Comics, Mainframe is the name/title used for an AI Tony Stark (Iron Man) created and the following which seems far more applicable from ComicBookDB:

Mainframe is an alternate universe version of Vision from the 31st century who acts alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy. In this future, Mainframe is the chief operating system of an entire planet and controls everything from climate to planetary stability, and when first encountered, the guardian of the shield of Captain America.

So, that means of the original team, we have Stakar (Starhawk) played by Sylvester Stallone, Aleta (Starhawk #1) played by Michelle Yeoh, Charlie-27 played by Ving Rhames, Yondu Udonta played by Michael Rooker. We know Michael Rosenbaum has an "important" role alongside Stallone as well so he could be Martinex given the makeup of the main Guardians 3000 roster.

Krugarr in Guardians of the Galaxy #34

As for Krugarr, who's a little more obscure than the others (and yes, we know we're four levels deep in Marvel lore here), he's the future successor of Doctor Strange. He's from the 31st century like the original Guardians team.

This all sounds exciting for Marvel Comic readers, especially fans of the cosmic side, and even if they barely appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, we can only hope that tease of them coming back in future movies in supporting roles comes true.

No Vance Astro though, further proving how James Gunn has been committed to keeping Peter Quill has the only Earth-born character in his Guardians movies (so far).
