An 80s-inspired infomercial has just been released by Marvel Studios, in order to celebrate Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's upcoming home entertainment release. Directed and written by James Gunn, the sequel saw the team of misfits return in a new adventure that would lead them to meet Star Lord's (Chris Pratt) long lost father, Ego (Kurt Russel). Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and Baby Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel), with Yondu (Michael Rooker), Nebula (Karen Gillan) and Mantis (Pom Klementieff) also joining in the fun as the squad tries to save the galaxy for the second time.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 was a big success for Marvel, grossing more than $859 million worldwide, and it has received generally positive feedback from the viewing audience with special citations on the film's visuals and the cast's superb performance. Now, in the spirit of the Marvel sub franchise utilizing throwback soundtracks and references, a specially made commercial patterned on the popular '80s infomercials has been released.

The clip has fully imbibed the '80s visuals - even the supposed Disney logo it opens to is a replaced by Buena Vista Home Video instead. Two presenters, who are dolled up to mimic the fashion of the era, talk through the video, explaining the various media formats that the product comes in. Further, they also list down all the special features fans would love in the home entertainment release including deleted scenes, commentary, bloopers and much more.

Additionally, a snippet of the earlier teased music video for “Guardians Inferno” - the original song played during the end credit scene of the film, performed by '80s icon David Hasselhoff (who gets name-dropped in the movie), is also shown. Earlier this month, Gunn (who wrote the song) shared a poster for the music video featuring himself, Klementieff, Sean Gunn (who plays Kraglin), Bautista,  Saldana,  Rooker, and Hasselhoff all all donning '80s clothing as they make their most 80s pose in front of the camera.

A TV spot for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 that was released back in April pulled a similar stunt when the 30-second clip was laced with timed laughter and other reactions reminiscent of ’80s sitcoms. These little things often times add more personality to films that fans really like.

The Guardians' next mission will involve them working together with Earth's Mightiest Heroes as worlds collide in 2018's Avengers: Infinity War. As per the exclusive clip from the movie shown at D23 Expo, Star-Lord and company will come across Thor (Chris Hemsworth) during one of their space explorations, finally creating a link between the cosmic heroes and their earth-bound counterparts. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is also already in development, with Gunn returning to once again write and direct the movie.
