Rocket Raccoon Groot Guardians of the Galaxy Character Poster Revealed New Guardians of the Galaxy Character Posters [Updated]

[UPDATE: Additional Guardians posters have been unveiled. Scroll down for more.]

With a little under two months left before James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters, Marvel Studios has begun releasing more promotional photos and footage from the film. New TV spots have surfaced in addition to interviews with actors like David Bautista and Lee Pace, who have spoken about their characters.

LEGO unveiled official Guardians of the Galaxy toy sets – including figurines of the five Guardians – last week; over the forthcoming week, new character posters highlighting each of the heroes will be released.

Fandango is releasing four new character posters for Guardians of the Galaxy this week, beginning with Rocket Raccoon, voiced by Bradley Cooper, and Groot, voiced by Vin Diesel. The bounty hunter and his treelike humanoid buddy are depicted mid-battle with Rocket riding on Groot’s shoulder – much like the scene in the prison from the first trailer.

Fandango will be releasing three more posters through Thursday. Presumably the other posters will feature Drax the Destroyer (Bautista), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), and Peter “Star-Lord” Quill (Chris Pratt) as they are the driving force behind the film.

UPDATE: Here are the latest Guardians of the Galaxy posters premiered by Fandango, featuring Gamora, Star Lord and Drax:

Much of the Guardians of the Galaxy’s advertising is tasked with a) drawing the attention of casual Marvel fans who won’t readily know how the film fits into the established Marvel Cinematic Universe and b) introducing the heroes of the movie.

While the initial Guardians of the Galaxy poster capitalized on Marvel’s established heroes, these character posters should help to initiate Groot and Rocket (and possibly Star-Lord, Gamora, and Drax) as heroes in to the MCU alongside Iron Man and Captain America.

What do you think of the poster, Screen Rant readers? Are you looking forward to seeing Rocket Raccoon and Groot on the big screen? Let us know in the comments.

We will update this post with the new posters as they are released.

Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters on August 1st, 2014.

  1. Me likes…

  2. Alright, where can I throw my money to get one of these things for my wall?

    • Me?? just kidding I am not giving this poster up. At the movie theater I work at we are aloud to take any extra posters, we just got this one today.

      • *ALLOWED

    • +1

  3. So awesome to see that marvel is willing to allow a talking racoon and a talking tree into the
MCU where they all exist in the same universe as the avengers. Gives me hope for ROM and the
spacenights to make their entrance one day.

  4. I am afraid Marvel no longer has the right for ROM the spaceknight…

    • *rights*

    • ROM may not be part of Marvel but the Spaceknights most definitely are still in the MU. They were just in the Infinity miniseries.

  5. True but marvel owns all the rights to the other spacenights and the dire wraiths thanks to
bill mantlo who created rom’s backstory and world, he is also responsible for rocket racoon’s
Existence. So there is hope hasbro willing to sell or make a deal that benefits both.

  6. Is it me or does Groots right eye appear to be staring at Rockets thumb piercing his skull ?
That would explain why he is screaming. He even looks in pain by it… lol..
All jokes aside i am counting down the days til this is released.*

*not really counting but just as excited.

  7. i’m either going to be a gunslingin raccoon or a sentient tree this halloween.

    • Or as a sentient tree with a gunslinging raccoon hand-puppet.

Killing two birds with one rock…

      • dontcha mean killing a flock of birds with one blaster? 😉

        • Killing entire army of invading aliens with a nuke :p

  8. Wonder what happens when these crazy critters meet the Avengers…???
    Drax v Hulk
    Star Lord v Captain America
    Racoon v Iron Man
    Groot v Thor
    and wait for it….
    Gamora v Black Widow

    • Nah, it’s just going to be Gamora vs Black Widow, while the guys are sitting back and watch…

      GIRLS FIGHT !!!

    • One thing for sure, Stark is gonna get another PTSD after seeing Rocket hahaha

    • Groot V Hulk!

  9. For me, these are some of the best posters I’ve ever seen.

  10. Kinda wished both get their own posters instead of together, eventhough it’s still cool. Now I hope Gamora and Drax are in one poster, Star Lord solo in the next one, and another group shot for the 4th (or better than that, the villains!).

    • A Ronan poster would be beyond awesome!

  11. Looks like everyone vote for a Rocket and Groot poster on fb! Very sick!

  12. Delete this spam ^

    • + 1

  13. That Gamora poster is on par with the Black Widow poster for Cap2. HOT

  14. On par? PLEASE…

Many people could pull off red haired chick in a leather catsuit, but looking hot in a green whole-body make up? Zoe Saldana’s hotness is out of this galaxy…

  15. Omg! Drax has the best one!!

  16. Must be Makeup Oscar time for the team behind this movie. Drax looks so totally awesome.

  17. I think Gamora looks better in the comics. They did something funny to Zoe’s temples.

  18. really love this !! can’t wait for the movie

    could be awesome !! :3
