Guardians of the Galaxy is a family movie in more ways than one. Not only is it part of the greater family of Marvel movies, it also stars director James Gunn's brother, Sean Gunn, as Yondu's first mate Kraglin, and Gunn's old friend Nathan Fillion in a cameo appearance. Marvel legend Stan Lee has also revealed that he will have a cameo role in Guardians of the Galaxy, though when asked about the details of it Lee replied, "I do not understand what it was or why I did it."

Marvel movies are well known for being littered with Easter eggs and allusions to the source material, as an extra treat for the comic book fans in the audience. With that in mind, there were plenty of rumors and fan speculation surrounding Fillion's cameo, with popular theories pointing to him playing Richard Rider AKA Nova, or perhaps even putting in an appearance as his Firefly and Serenity character, Captain Malcolm Reynolds.

Now a full, credited cast list for Guardians of the Galaxy is out in the wild, courtesy of Stitch Kingdom, and it includes details of the roles that Fillion and Lee will be playing alongside a couple of other cameos and the appearance of a character from the comics that should get Guardians of the Galaxy fans even more excited than they already are. Those who have the willpower to wait another couple of weeks and be surprised by the cameos in the theater should turn back right now. Everyone else, venture forth for more information.

Amazing Guardians of the Galaxy set photo

First things first, you may have to squint in order to recognize Fillion in Guardians of the Galaxy, since he's credited as 'Monstrous Inmate.' Presumably that means he'll be donning the yellow prison uniform and joining the Guardians in their stint behind bars, though we couldn't spot him in any of the set photos or clips from that part of the movie. Perhaps he's just wearing very clever make-up.

Lee, meanwhile, is credited as 'Xandarian Ladies’ Man,' which explains what he meant when he said that his cameo was with "a very pretty girl." Xandar, according to the first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy, is the planet where Peter Quill and his friends-to-be are initially arrested before being taken to prison - though with their track record, it's possible that they'll end up getting arrested more than once over the course of the movie.

Not excited yet? There's more. Musician and director Rob Zombie is credited as 'Ravager Navigator Voice' (the Ravagers are Yondu's band of outlaws), and canine actor Fred the Dog will play security expert and eventual ally to the Guardians of the Galaxy, Cosmo. Finally, the end titles include a credit for Steve Gerber and Val Mayerik that infers Howard the Duck will also pop up at some point, possibly as part of the 1980s memorabilia that Peter Quill brings with him from Earth.

One final important fact was included in the end credits: "No raccoons or tree creatures were harmed during the making of this film." So, not only can you enjoy the many cameos in Guardians of the Galaxy, you can also watch the movie with an easy conscience.

Guardians of the Galaxy is out in theaters on August 1st, 2014.
