Sean Gunn talks about how Yondu's emotional death in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will impact Kraglin and his actions moving forward. James Gunn successfully cooked up a worthy sequel to his 2014 surprise Marvel hit, Guardian of the Galaxy, this summer by bringing together everyone's favorite rag tag heroic misfits for more adventure. But while the first film from the superhero/cosmic franchise packed on the fun, this follow-up was laced with emotions -especially with Star-Lord's continued hunt for his long-lost biological father, who turns out to be a megalomaniac celestial - Ego the Living Planet.

The reveal that Peter's father's only motivation to find him is to use him for his evil plan might have taken an emotional toll on the unofficial leader of the squad, the death of his quasi-father, Yondu affected every single one of the Guardians. Even the always snazzy and seemingly apathetic Rocket took the former Ravager's tragic demise pretty hard. But if there's anyone who will feel Yondu's absence moving forward, it would be his trusted assistant and loyal pal, Kraglin.

Dissecting the emotional effect that his character was going through with the death of his longtime boss, Gunn shares in during an interview with Comic Book in light of Guardian 2's Blu-ray release that Kraglin's main takeaway from Yondu's act of selflessness is his willingness to do sacrifice his own self for the people he cares about:

Michael Rooker as Yondu in Guardians of the Galaxy 2

"I think that Kraglin was fiercely loyal to Yondu all the time, and from Kraglin's point of view, he doesn't seem to be as loyal to the Ravagers as the Ravagers have been to him. But then I think it's through Yondu's selflessness that Kraglin learns where his heart was and it brings things around...You never know where the story is going to go, but I know that Kraglin certainly learned something from Yondu's sacrifice."

However, when asked what is next for Kraglin, who inherited Yondu's Yakka arrow, James Gunn's brother suddenly gets coy about his future in the franchise and the MCU as a whole:

"Well, I don't know. I think one of the fun parts about my job is that once the movie's over, I can step back and just be a fan for a little bit. I don't really know what's going to happen with Kraglin. I know where he is at the end of the movie, just like you do, which is that he's working on making that arrow fly. But who knows where that will end up. I have no idea, really."

With the way Guardians 2 ended, it still unclear what Kraglin's position in the team will be, or if he is even a part of the squad already. But given how he no longer has any group he belongs to and the seeming silent agreement that he is now one of the Guardians, chances are he will tag along Star-Lord in their upcoming adventures. Further, it would have been a waste if fans will no longer see Yondu's cool Yakka arrow in action in other films moving forward.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is finally released physically in 4K Ultra HD, Blu-Ray Combo Pack, and DVD today, August. It is also already available digitally in HD, 4k Ultra HD, and Disney Movies.
