Superheroes not only do their good deeds on the big screen but they have also found ways to make a change off screen. In the last years, both Marvel Studios and DC have launched campaigns to raise funds for different causes while giving lucky fans a chance to visit the sets or attend the premieres.
On Marvel’s side, the film currently in production is James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, with Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper reprising their roles, and with new cast additions such as Pom Klementieff, Kurt Russell, and Elizabeth Debicki. Marvel is seizing this opportunity and with Chris Pratt’s help launched an Omaze campaign that will give fans a chance to visit the Guardians set.
Chris Pratt shared the campaign’s video on his official Facebook page (you can watch it above), offering a behind-the-scenes look of sorts while explaining what the campaign is all about. All proceeds will go to Lake Stevens Boys & Girls Club, a youth center located in Chris Pratt’s hometown of Lake Stevens, WA. The club offers an engaging space for younger children but it’s lacking a designated place for teenagers to go after school. The goal is to build a space where these teens can hang out, play games, watch movies, and so forth – all this while surrounded by positive role models helping always willing to help them.
With that particular sense of humour of his, Chris Pratt gives a small tour on the campaign’s video while explaining how to enter and the perks you can gain with your donations – and also making a lot of promises he might not be able to keep, like telling who Star-Lord’s father is in the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel.
What contributors can get for sure are limited edition campaign t-shirts, cassette players with Awesome Mix Volume 1 plus Chris Pratt’s curated playlist, the Awesome Mix Volume 1 vinyl signed by Pratt, and more, depending on their donations. Those lucky fans selected to visit the set will be flown to Atlanta and set up in a 4-star hotel, will get a behind-the-scenes tour – including a tour of the Milano – lunch with Chris Pratt, and whatever Pratt and the crew might come up with on spot.
In a time where superhero and fantasy movies dominate the industry, there’s no denying in the power they have over the audience, so it’s good to see the studios are using that power for great causes while giving back to the fans. The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol, 2 campaign ends in 41 days at the time of writing this article, so if you want to help the cause and have a chance to meet Chris Pratt, you can start donating now.
