Rockstar Games has revealed Fast & Furious-style street racing is coming to GTA Online. The game already features different types of GTA racing stunts and challenges, but the upcoming GTA Online: Los Santos Tuners update is set to ramp up the action with a dedicated social space, new races, and new highly customizable vehicles coming later this month.

GTA Online is an ever-evolving action-adventure, serving as the online component for GTA 5. GTA Online challenges players to climb the criminal ranks of Los Santos, with a heavy focus on buying (or stealing) luxury vehicles to aid them in their quest. Racing is one of many popular activities within the game, but GTA Online: Los Santos Tuners is set to make racing more robust and substantial than ever. While GTA Online receives regular updates from Rockstar, the Los Santos Tuners update is already looking like one of the most exciting yet.

The Los Santos Tuners update was announced by official Rockstar Games channels with a trailer highlighting just a little of what players can expect. As well as showing off a range of new "highly customizable vehicles," Rockstar has confirmed a new social space will be added, encouraging players to "come together and share their love of cars." The hub will be called the "LS Car Meet," and is described as an underground street racers' space for players to show off their customized rides and modifications. Players can also become an LS Car Meet Member, which will allow them to mod vehicles "in real-time with friends, test them at the new Test Track, demo new cars, and much more." Players won't have too long to wait for Fast & Furious-style street racing with GTA Online: Los Santos Tuners, as the update will release on July 20.

GTA Online players waiting for the summer update had previously shared concerns that Rockstar Games might not deliver anything substantial; however, it seems the worries were unfounded. One eagle-eyed Twitter user has already spotted a number of vehicles to get excited for with the update, including a Honda S2000, a Nissan 240SX XE Hatchback (S13), and an SN95 Mustang. Rockstar has also revealed that some of the new vehicles will benefit from special speed boosts when GTA Online comes to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S later this year.

The developer is still working hard to bring GTA 5 and a standalone version of GTA Online to new-gen consoles. Announced in 2020, the upgrades are expected to make the most of the latest consoles, though exact details on the upgrades are unknown. Players will likely be able to enjoy improved load times, graphical improvements, and better framerates compared to last-gen versions of the game. GTA 5 and GTA Online come to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 11.
