The new August update for Grounded added some new upgrades players can unlock, not only for their bases and equipment but also for their character. Players can earn some new perks, called mutations, by performing different tasks. These mutations will make the game a little easier and increase the player's chances of survival. While a few of these must be purchased from Burgl's Tech Chip Swap Shop using Raw Science, the majority can be unlocked just by finding the right location on the map or performing the right set of tasks.

One of these perks is the Coup De Grass. While its effects may not be immediately apparent, this perk can increase the chances of a player's blows against a spider or insect landing, even when they aren't as well placed or executed as they could be. Put another way, this perk increases a player's luck. Fitting with the theme of luck, to unlock this perk, players must find the now-relocated Clover Cave location and find four-leaf clovers surviving and thriving where it should be biologically impossible for them to do so. Here's how to find Clover Cave and survive its Gauntlet to obtain the Coup De Grass perk in Grounded.

Find the Clover Cave Location in Grounded

Map location for the Clover Cave in Grounded after patch 0.2.0

Players may have already found Clover Cave once prior to Patch 0.2.0 in the east lake. However, since the Patch, the cave has changed locations. Players will still find it in the east lake, but now it is south of the spider den and north of the Yoked Girth Head. Players can see the exact location circled on the map above.

Once players arrive at the shore of the lake, they will see a few clovers. Near the lake, they'll find the entrance to a hole in the ground. They will need to jump into the hole, which is full of water, and swim through a narrow Gauntlet. This tunnel is rather long and will use all or almost all a player's oxygen. To survive, they will need to make sure they get a large enough breath prior to going underwater and starting to swim.

Though it seems the physics would not allow for this, the other best thing to do to avoid drowning is to take a torch into the gauntlet. The torch will still work underwater and will more easily show the player which direction to go so they are not wasting time and oxygen trying to navigate through the tunnel.

At the end of the tunnel, players will find an air pocket with a bit of grass growing and a large, four-leaf clover. Getting close to the clover will unlock the Coup De Grass mutation, which players can activate in the status menu. Players can only have three mutations active at a time and will need to decide which to have active and which to keep off.

This location will also register as a landmark for players that enjoy completing collections like landmarks in the game.
