Green Lantern = Wacky Comedy: Confirmed?

Jul 16, 2004 by

According to Ainitcool.com, Jack Black is said to have signed his name on the dotted line to play the man with that ring we all wish we had.

Apparently the film has been described as being comparable to Jim Carrey’s The Mask. DC is/was not happy with this, but I guess their agreement with Warner Brothers gives the mismanaged studio the last word.

See my previous article on Jack Black as Green Lantern for more background.

Anyone in the mood for a happy dance?

  1. All I can say is, I hope Jack loses a few pounds in preparation for his role. I don’t remember Green Lantern being so chunky. My gut feel is that we’re looking at a major stinker here.

  2. Well if they’re going to make it a comedy I guess “chunkiness” can only add to the effect. They didn’t exactly select him for his square-jawed profile…

  3. No, I suppose not. :-O

Unless GL is portrayed as a filthy-and-obnoxious-yet-lovable white trash, I don’t see how this concept will work.

  4. *Sigh*

Why? I mean I love Jack Black, I think he’s hilarious. But as Green Lantern? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

I’m looking at the cover of Green Lantern #100….it has an AWESOME picture of Ryne on it. Kinda get’s me down, heh.

Question…has anyone heard any news on who will be writing it?

    DarrOn

  5. Sorry, no. There’s been no info as to who the writer might be.

  6. Thanks Vic.

Damn, I CANNOT spell Rayner for the life of me. In Both GL posts, I screwed it up. Yeesh.
