Lord Garth, Formerly of Izar says:

Another No

Just Get Jamie Bamber or put Shatner in a time machine and set it to 1968

Drew says:

If Green Lantern is released the same day as Thor. Marvel is getting my money. DC is just trying to bully Marvel like they did earlier with all of their other movie release dates, I hope Marvel stands up to them and DC backs down again. Wouldnt that be great to see GL change dates again. Its almost as bad as Robert Rodriquez talking about Sin City 2 and when its going to be made. Until its in production, I just dont care to listen anymore.

Zipper Stevens says:

Isn’t that the neat thing about the Green Lantern mythos, that ALL of these guys could be in it? Just a thought…

KEL says:

Screw Thor. I’m sorry, but GL is waaaaaay better than fabio, I’ll be standing in queue in my junk hugging GL suit for GL on opening night/day. Besides, I’ve got the first draft for GL, and it is all kinds of awesome. Seeing Trek last night made me realize how cool GL is gonna be. It PISSES me off though that it won’t be out till 2011!!!! What the hell is up with that?

(that said I’ll probably see Thor as soon as GL is over)

Now onto Shawn….

I like this one. Granted, I’ve seen his acting in nothing and interviews with him in videos are scarcer than my grandad’s hair, but I like him. He’s the right age (Hal was 26 when he became GL), and from the pics I’ve googled of him he could definitely look the part. He has that Chris Pine vein to him, and that would be great for GL, exactly what GL needs. If his acting is good of course, I hope he gets the part. I’d prefer him to Cooper and some of the other names being thrown around.

Chris Pine was my first choice but Star Trek is gonna be huge and he’s gonna be the new face of Trek now, and the characters of Hal Jordan and Kirk are SO similar….I just can’t see it working.

BRING ON GL!!

Gary says:

I have never heard of Shawn Roberts.
But if he is a good actor I have no problem with it.

Andy S says:

Besides being a bit young, he DOES kinda look like the picture being used to compare the two. Same jawline with a similar facial structure. I don’t think he’d be a bad choice at all.

Josh R says:

I still want Brian Austin Green, and the fact that they’ve screentested him is good news.

The only thing I’ve seen this guy in is Diary of the Dead (and I guess X-Men, now that you point that out) and I thought he was just okay. But sometimes it’s good to go with an unknown, so I could probably get behind him as Hal.

Kenoboss says:

if theer loooking at 30 somthing actors take a 2nd look at David Berannez (Angel/Bones/ GL amamation -V)

Isn’t Thor coming out May 20th, 2011 and GL June 17, 2011? That gives Thor enough time.

greenknight333 says:

I heard every actor in Hollywood under the age of 35 is being considered for the role of Hal Jordan

Rob Keyes says:

@ Anonymous,

You’re right! Thanks for the heads up. I just grabbed the date from when Marvel delayed their movies back in March. Not long after, Thor got moved again, to a month earlier:

Strangely enough i find myself looking forward to this movie – it has great visual potential.

Phil says:

Yes, Green Lantern has always been the DC movie I’ve longed to see. Unlike Superman and Batman, it should be mostly set in space. So it’s a cross between a superhero film and Star Trek. Since Star Trek is doing so well and superhero films are still in vogue, this is nice timing.

However I don’t like Shawn Roberts in the role… he’s just too young-looking and pretty. Give me somebody with a bit more ruggedness for the role…

I think none of the earlier running candidates are going to get the role though. They’re taking such a long time to make a decision, it’s obvious to me they didn’t really have anybody in mind and they’re struggling to find the man to match whatever vision they had concerning the movie.

Julissa Bonilla says:

He doesn’t make a better Hal Jordan than Sam Witwer who should be the one given the role. This gyu looks more like a Kyle Rayner Green Lantern than a Hal Jordan Green Lantern. The perfect Green Lantern will be Sam Witwer from Smallville. I know you must be thinking that I am crazy but just look at him. He has the face and build for the role. He is in about his late 20s or early 30s which makes him even more perfect for the part. He has acting experience so its not like another Brandon Routh incident will reoccur. If not him then I guess Chris Pine is the best rumored choice, but he is not a better one than Sam Witwer. If Pine was given the role he would be paid a ridiculous amount of money and everyone will view him as Captain Kirk, not Green Lantern. Pine also looks nothing like the Green Lantern…
I have many more reasons why he should play the Green Lantern. I am so confident in this that I have even written a petition. Here’s the link, read it and sign before you leave, I’m sure you will agree with me:

Andy S says:

Sam Witmer looks NOTHING like Green Lantern and would be totally miscast in the role. I also think Chris Pine would be wrong for the role. Heck, Adrian Pasdar would be a better choice than those 2. Of course he’s probably considered too old for the project. But definitely NOT Witmer.

Ken J says:

Well, you guys can add Sam Worthington to the rumor list, but this time it’s straight from Worthington himself.

alli says:

Shawn ehhhhh not hot enough….Now Erik Fellows.. That’s HOTNESS http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1795464/

Linda says:

WHAT?! Shawn roberts not hot enough?! Are you nuts!? The man is pure muscle, chizzled Jawline, and totally droolworthy. Hes got a starring role alongside Mel Gibson coming out this year!

Ken J says:

And they call GUYS shallow… :-D
